No full textConversas Desalinhadas é uma publicação que reflete sobre os 5 anos de atividade do Grupo de Estudo Leituras Feministas. Composta por: ensaios escritos e/ou visuais de participantes do grupo de estudo em conversa com textos, atividades e pessoas que deram vida às sessões do grupo; um diagrama da primeira Caminhada das Corpas; um caderno de documentação fotográfica do grupo; e entrevistas às responsáveis pelos espaços alternativos que acolheram as várias atividades.
A publicação revisita os textos discutidos e as atividades realizadas a partir da ideia de conversa. Assim, lançamos o convite à nossa rede para que dialogassem com um desses textos e/ou momentos vividos no Leituras Feministas, num formato à sua escolha (artigo, poesia, ensaio visual, carta, etc.). Conversas Desalinhadas é assim o resultado destas conversas e que esperamos que seja simultaneamente um apanhado
do espírito vivido no grupo nestes 5 anos, mas também um apelo à ação e à reflexão em torno de epistemologias e metodologias interseccionais feministas e decoloniais.

No full textIn this interview, Carla Trujillo discusses her roots, which include being born in New Mexico and growing up in Northern California. Carla received her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Educational Psychology from UW-Madison and became an established author. It will help determine which audio file(s) to download & listen to.Carla Trujillo was born to a working class family in New Mexico and grew up in Northern California. Her extended family and roots are New Mexican (Chicana). She received her B.S. degree in Human Development from UC Davis, and her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Educational Psychology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Her dissertation focused on assessing differential treatment of underrepresented students in college classrooms. She is the editor of Living Chicana Theory and Chicana Lesbians: The Girls Our Mothers Warned Us About (Third Woman Press), winner of a Lambda Book Award and the Out/Write Vanguard Award. Her first novel, What Night Brings (Curbstone Press 2003), won the Miguel Marmol prize focusing on human rights. What Night Brings also won the Paterson Fiction Prize, the Latino Literary Foundation Latino Book Award, Bronze Medal from Foreword Magazine, Honorable Mention for the Gustavus Meyers Books Award, and was a LAMBDA Book Award finalist. Carla has also written various articles on identity and higher education. Her latest novel, Faith and Fat Chances, was a finalist for the 2012 PEN Bellwether Prize for socially engaged fiction and is forthcoming from Curbstone/Northwestern University Press. Carla works as the Assistant Dean for Graduate Diversity Program at U.C. Berkeley and has focused some of her recent activities on improving the work and classroom climate using Interactive Theater. She has lectured in Ethnic Studies at U.C. Berkeley and Mills College, and in Women’s Studies at S.F. State University. She has also taught fiction for the Sandra Cisneros Macondo Writers Program and the Lambda Literary Foundation’s Emerging Writers Program

Marques Fund: endowing orphans girls of the Portuguese Nação of London since 1675
No full textUIDB/04666/2020 UIDP/04666/2020On the 10th of November of 1675, Diogo Rodrigues Marques (alias Abraham Rodrigues Marques) signed his last will. This Jewish merchant from Torre de Moncorvo who lived his last years in London and made fortune in the Indian diamond trade, bequeathed £ 1.000 to the Sephardic congregation of London. According to Marques’ will, it should be extracted £ 50 from the annual interest income of this value and applied to endow a poor orphan girl from the Jewish community every year. The donation of this amount, extracted every year from the so-called “Marques Fund”, was still taking place in the 20th century. In this article, I present a translation of Diogo Rodrigues Marques’ testament. In addition, I transcribe an extract of the Ascamot (bye-laws) of the Spanish and Portuguese Jews’ Congregation of London published in 1754 concerning the regulation of the Marques fund. A 10 de Novembro de 1675, Diogo Rodrigues Marques (alias Abraham Rodrigues Marques) assinava as suas últimas vontades na cidade de Londres. Este mercador judeu natural de Torre de Moncorvo, que construiu fortuna sobretudo através do comércio de diamantes, deixou à congregação sefardita de Londres um legado no valor de 1.000 libras esterlinas, de cujos rendimentos 50 libras seriam destinadas anualmente para dotar uma órfã pobre da comunidade. A doação deste valor, extraído todos os anos do chamado “Fundo Marques”, ainda vigorava no século XX. Estudo e adaptação do simulador de condução autónoma CARLA para o ATLASCAR2
No full textWithin the scope of the ATLASCAR2 project, this dissertation is based on
studying and integrating the already existing autonomous driving assistance
simulator named CARLA that implements an interface based on ROS to
replicate the ATLASCAR2 setup in the simulation. The idea of using an
autonomous driving simulator was proposed as a way to simplify the data
aquisition process for the ATLASCAR2 since this process keeps on getting
more and more difficult due to factors such as the complexity in the setup
and the calibration processes of the installed sensors on the ATLASCAR2,
as well as other factors such as the hardware interface and the time that is
required to perform a single data aquisition using the ATLASCAR2. This
tool can produce realistic scenarios and can be used for testing out the algorithms
that are going to be implemented in the ATLASCAR2 in controlled
environments, offering a degree of ground truth for these algorithms that
can be used to evaluate the performance in these environments before implementing
them in the real platform. The replication of the ATLASCAR2
setup process as well as the algorithms involved in CARLA will be discussed
in further detail during this dissertation which include sections talking about
the replication process and the algorithms involved, showing the results of
the ATLASCAR2 setup implementation in CARLA as well as some other
results produced from experiments with CARLA simulated data which include
the use of computer vision algorithms as well as other algorithms that
are currently being used in the ATLASCAR2.No âmbito do projecto do ATLASCAR2, esta dissertação baseia-se no estudo
e integração do simulador já existente para assistência à condução
autónoma CARLA, que implementa uma interface baseada em ROS para
replicar o setup do ATLASCAR2 dentro da simulação. A ideia do uso de
um simulador de condução autónoma como CARLA foi proposta a _m de
simplificar a tarefa de aquisição de dados para o ATLASCAR2 visto que
esta é uma tarefa que se vai tornando cada vez mais difícil devido a factores
como a complexidade ao nível do setup e a calibração dos sensores
instalados no ATLASCAR2, assim como outros factores como a interface de
hardware e o tempo que é necessário para fazer uma aquisição de dados usando
o ATLASCAR2. Esta ferramenta consegue produzir cenários próximos
da realidade e pode ser usada para testar os algoritmos que vão ser usados
no ATLASCAR2 em ambientes controlados oferencendo um método de
validação que pode ser usado para avaliar o desempenho destes algoritmos
nesses ambientes antes de os testar na plataforma real. O processo de
replicação do setup do ATLASCAR2 e os algoritmos envolvidos no CARLA
serão descritos com mais detalhe durante a dissertação que inclui secções
onde é feita a descrição do processo de replicação do setup e dos algoritmos,
a demonstração de resultados produzidos através da implementação
do setup do ATLASCAR2 no CARLA, assim como alguns resultados produzidos
de algumas experiências com dados simulados pelo CARLA que
inclui a utilização de algoritmos de visão e outros algoritmos que estão a
