No full textTurnén "Måste jag välja?" genomfördes under v. 44 2016 i samarbete med Norrbottensmusiken. Man besökte högstadium/gymnasium i Kiruna och Arjeplog samt hade offentliga konserter i Arvidsjaur och Arjeplog.Det var en föreställning med temat indentitet och att leva med flera kulturer i sitt liv, den samiska och den svenska. The empirical data have consisted of twenty-one articles from the main national newspapers Dagens Nyheter and Svenska Dagbladet. The study had a qualitative disposition and the selection was made strategically to make sure the empirical data would be relevant to the study’s issues. The theoretical starting point was extracted from social constructivism and from Foucault’s theory about power and his discourse concept. The analysis was done with help of Foucault’s discursive analytic methods with focus on power, entities positioning, what was implicit in the articles and whom was given the space to be heard. It was found that the descriptions of social welfare receivers were often negative and contained assumptions that were seldom expressly explained. The rhetoric constructions may contribute to the legitimation of the marginalisation of social welfare receivers in Sweden through the focus on political, financial and work-related aspects. The result showed that social welfare receivers were considered to be uneducated and incapable in most of the articles. An fMRi investigation of mental effort in a complex working memory task
No full text A fundamental component of attention and working memory is the ability to allocate sufficient amount of mental resources to ongoing activity. Despite the fact that ’effort’ is a key ingredient to current theories about attention and memory, little is known about the brain’s regulation of cognitive effort. In this fMRI study, we employed the momentous Daneman reading span task (Daneman & Carpenter, 1980) to induce cognitive effort. We have previously used complex working memory tasks to study deficits with respect to effortful processing in patients with sleep disorders (Engström, et al., 2009). We have noted profound involvement of the anterior cingulate cortex in relation to cognitive effort. We now wish to corroborate this finding in a larger group of healthy participants. </p
