No full textThis thesis project makes a comparative analysis between the way discipleship was performed by the first century Christians with the way it is accomplished by the Haitian-American churches today. Extant studies in this field demonstrate that there is a lack of participation in missionary work and discipleship among Haitian-American Christians. They are failing to fulfill the command of Jesus Christ in Matthews to “Go and make disciples” (28:19-20). This project surveyed Christians in twenty-five Haitian American churches in order to evaluate their understanding of the Great Commission. The author also consulted religious and historical documents with the goal of conducting a comprehensive study on this important issue. The ultimate aim of this research is to encourage Haitian-American Christians to become more involved in missions

No full textThe novel Sepotong Senja Untuk Pacarku by Seno Gumira Ajidarma includes 16 short story compositions regarding dusk that bind together reflection stories about life which are written in an absurd and unique style by the author. Based on this, this novel has its own charm to be studied further by implementing a literary psychology approach based on Abraham Maslow's humanistic theory because it is closely related to reality which includes the depth of human nature, conscience, changes in attitudes and changes in mindset. The formulation of the problem in this study is how the concept of the hierarchy of needs and the form of its fulfillment for the Sukab character in the novel Sepotong Senja Untuk Pacarku is based on the humanistic psychology aspect of Abraham Maslow and how the Sukab character self-actualizes based on the study of Abraham Maslow's humanistic psychology. This type of research uses a qualitative descriptive method. Descriptive is stated because in this study the researcher describes the data to be analyzed in the form of the psychological aspect of the character Sukab in the novel Sepotong Senja Untuk Pacarku by Seno Gumira Ajidarma based on the study of humanistic psychology of Abraham Maslow. Data collection techniques used in this research are literature study techniques and note-taking techniques. Based on the results of the research, in the novel Sepotong Senja Untuk Pacarku, it is found that several aspects of multilevel needs include physiological needs, security needs, love and belonging needs, self-esteem needs and self-actualization.

Berdasarkan hal tersebut, novel ini memiliki daya tarik tersendiri untuk dikulik lebih lanjut dengan mengimplementasi pendekatan psikologi sastra berdasarkan teori humanistik Abraham Maslow karena berhubungan dekat dengan realita yang meliputi kedalaman sifat manusia, hati nurani, perubahan sikap dan perubahan pola pikir. Permasalahan yang diajukan dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimanakah konsep hierarki kebutuhan dan bentuk pemenuhannya terhadap tokoh Sukab dalam novel Sepotong Senja Untuk Pacarku menurut aspek psikologi humanistik Abraham maslow serta bagaimanakah tokoh Sukab mengaktualisasi diri berdasarkan kajian psikologi humanistik Abraham Maslow. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan naratif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu teknik studi pustaka dan teknik catat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, novel Sepotong Senja Untuk Pacarku ditemukan beberapa aspek kebutuhan bertingkat yang meliputi kebutuhan fisiologis, kebutuhan rasa aman, kebutuhan rasa cinta dan memiliki, kebutuhan rasa harga diri dan aktualisasi diri.

No full textInternational audienceMoult écrivains, intellectuels et poètes dont ceux de la Négritude s’accordent à dire que la poésie de Léon-Gontran Damas est une “poésie jazz ou “tam tam” inventive au langage symbolique fortement marquée par le rythme et la musicalité et qui marronne les codes de la versification traditionnelle. Le jazz, musique noir américaine du début du XXème siècle, est un traité sur l’enharmonie dans lequel la musique tout comme la vie n’est pas une partition réglée d’avance mais bien une manière de considérer d’autres possibles. Ce présent travail consiste à trouver dans Pigments (1937), ouvrage fort symbolique, des points de jonction entre le style poétique de la Négritude de Damas et les pratiques musicales marronnes comme le jazz et le free-jazz. Ces éléments nous permettront de mettre en parallèle des arts qui participent de la prise de conscience d’une poétique de l’hétérogénéité, de l’imprédictible comme l’aimait à affirmer E. Glissant
