MARIDA: A benchmark for Marine Debris detection from Sentinel-2 remote sensing data
Currently, a significant amount of research is focused on detecting Marine Debris and assessing its spectral behaviour via remote sensing, ultimately aiming at new operational monitoring solutions. Here, we introduce a Marine Debris Archive (MARIDA), as a benchmark dataset for developing and evaluating Machine Learning (ML) algorithms capable of detecting Marine Debris. MARIDA is the first dataset based on the multispectral Sentinel-2 (S2) satellite data, which distinguishes Marine Debris from various marine features that coexist, including Sargassum macroalgae, Ships, Natural Organic Material, Waves, Wakes, Foam, dissimilar water types (i.e., Clear, Turbid Water, Sediment-Laden Water, Shallow Water), and Clouds. We provide annotations (georeferenced polygons/ pixels) from verified plastic debris events in several geographical regions globally, during different seasons, years and sea state conditions. A detailed spectral and statistical analysis of the MARIDA dataset is presented along with well-established ML baselines for weakly supervised semantic segmentation and multi-label classification tasks. MARIDA is an open-access dataset which enables the research community to explore the spectral behaviour of certain floating materials, sea state features and water types, to develop and evaluate Marine Debris detection solutions based on artificial intelligence and deep learning architectures, as well as satellite pre-processing pipelines. © 2022 Kikaki et al. A' la Recherche de l'autorité
The essay “A' la recherche de l'autorité” examines the relationship between Le Corbusier and political Authority, the sole power that in his opinion could permit the technician to realise urban plans and architectural works of notable importance. During the early 1930s, while searching for important clients, Le Corbusier looked to Stalin’s Soviet Union, as well as the reformist mayor of Algiers Charles Brunel and the president of the young Catalan Republic, Francesc Maciá. Only Rome and Mussolini were missing.
The essay reconstructs the climate and hopes of Le Corbusier while in Rome in June 1934, invited by the Directors of the magazine Quadrante Pietro Maria Bardi and Massimo Bontempelli to hold two lectures and present a small exhibition. Using the architect’s personal notebook, discovered in the archives of the Fondation Le Corbusier, the author speaks of Le Corbusier’s Roman encounters with architects and authors tied to the Regime – including Tommaso Marinetti and Marcello Piacentini – and with the group of young Rationalist architects who welcomed the Master and accompanied him on his visit to the Palatine Hill or to the new cities of the Pontine Marshes. The essay is accompanied by unpublished sketches from Le Corbusier’s notebook, including a drawing of a building in front other Basilica of Maxentius, conceived for the competition to design the so-called Palazzo del Littorio [Headquarters of the Fascist Party] that concluded only a few days later
«Abbiamo lasciato il campo cantando»
Jewish cabaret in the concentration camps during 1939-1945. The author, while only concentrate on life in two elds (Westerbork and Theresienstadt), is able to provide the tragic dimension of the annhilament of European Jews, their extreme resistance nds the highest expression into the comical, the cabaret. The author does not always nd an answer to the dramatic questions, that come to light from the book, but it is an appropriate starting point for future insights

This publication, edited by Marida Talamona, brings together various texts dedicated to Le Corbusier and his relationship with the italian culture and the italian architects during his life. Marida Talamona is the author of the Introduction (pp. 15-17) and of the essay “A' la recherche de l'Autorité”( pp.174-187), in which she examines the relationship between Le Corbusier and political Authority, the sole power that in his opinion could permit the technician to realise urban plans and architectural works of notable importance. Pengaruh Pendidikan Kesehatan terhadap Peningkatan Konsumsi Makanan Bergizi pada Anak Remaja di SMP Santo Ignasius Johor Medan
Nutrition is a contribution to a person's health and development. Good nutrition can build a strong immune system, prevent disease, and improve health. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of health education on increasing the consumption of nutritious food. This type of research is research quasi-experimental using the pretest-posttest design method, namely by providing a pretest (initial observation) before the intervention is carried out, after the intervention is given, then a posttest (final observation) is carried out. Health education in the form of balanced nutrition animation videos, balanced nutrition PPTs and food models. The statistical test used was Paired test T-Test. The results of the analysis of the pair t-test pre-test and post- test knowledge obtained a p value = 0.000, so it can be concluded that there is an effect of health education on increasing knowledge of nutritious food consumption. The results of the analysis of the pair t-test pre-test and post- test attitude obtained a p value = 0.000, which means is an effect of health education on increasing attitudes of nutritious food consumption. The results of the analysis of the pair t-test pre-test and post- test Action obtained a p value = 0.159, which means so it can be concluded that there is no effect of health education on increasing actions to consume nutritious food. This study is that there is an influence of health education on increasing knowledge and attitudes towards consuming nutritious food at SMP Santo Ignasius Johor. Video media can be recommended as an effective communication media because it can contain a lot of information about educational material
Bloodstream infections due to multi-drug resistant bacteria in the emergency department: prevalence, risk factors and outcomes—a retrospective observational study
peer reviewedMultidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) are prevalent in patients admitted to the Emergency Department (ED) and increase the risk of inappropriate empirical antibiotic therapy. Risk stratification for MDRO infection is essential to early identify patients requiring empirical broad-spectrum antibiotic therapy, but it remains challenging for emergency physicians. This study aimed to evaluate prevalence, risk factors, and outcomes of patients admitted to the ED with a bloodstream infection (BSI) caused by MDROs. A retrospective observational study enrolling all consecutive adult patients admitted with a BSI to the ED of Niguarda Hospital, Italy, from January 2019 to December 2021 was performed. 757 patients were enrolled, 14.1% with septic shock. 156 (20%) patients had a BSI caused by MDRO: extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) producing Enterobacterales were the most prevalent followed by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Risk factors for BSI due to MDRO and specifically for ESBL were chronic renal failure (OR 2.2; 95%CI 1.4–3.6), nursing home residency (OR 4.4; 95%CI 1.9–10.2) and antibiotic therapy in the last 90–days (OR 2.6; 95%CI 1.7–4), whereas for MRSA were dialysis (OR 12.3; 95%CI 1.8–83), antibiotic therapy and/or hospital admission in the past 90-days (OR 3.6; 95%CI 1.2–10.6) and ureteral stent or nephrostomy (OR 7.8; 95%CI 1.5–40.9). Patients with BSI due to MDRO had a higher rate of inappropriate empirical antibiotic therapy (50%) and longer length of stay, but no higher in-hospital mortality. Among patients admitted to the ED with a BSI, MDROs are frequent and often associated with inappropriate empirical antibiotic therapy. Specific updated risk factors for MDRO may help clinicians to better identify patients requiring a broader antibiotic therapy in the ED, while awaiting microbiological results. © The Author(s) 2024
