In the experimental alimentary ovine alkalosis, at the end of treatment, the protein elevtrophoresis shows decreasing albumins and increasing alphaglobulins and gammaglobulins. In the serum and in the blood the alkali reserve and the pH were increasing dangerously. Stopping the oxalic poisoning and a giving an acid-forming diet the blood protein picture came back to normal level and in the blood the alkalosis disappeared

Aminoacid content in the edible part of some snails. In two tables the amino acid content found out in the edible of 10 Helix vermiculata and 10 Helix aspersa is reported. Aspartic and gluthamic acids are the most copious; lysine, methionine, leucine, isoleucine and arginine are in a good level

Seasonal gonadal activity in rams from Sardinia. All over a year in eight rams the testicular diameter and the plasma testosterone level were determined. The least testicular diameter was found out in march, then it increased with peak in august. After that month the testicular diameter regressed a little in september-november, dramatically in december and again a little till march. The plasma level changes of testosterone appeared to be correlated with the testicular diameter but it increased to a maximum in july. A possible interrelationship between the light and the seasonal cycle is discussed

The influence of a diet containing olive cake on the level of fatty acids in sheep's milk. The authors have not observed significant variations in the study of the concentration of fatty avids in sheep's milk (determined gas-cromatographically)before and after the sheep had been fed on a diet containing olive cake

The digestibility of an olive cake feed was evaluated by feeding it to four rams. Then, a group of 25 sheep were fed on a diet containing olive cake for one year. No difference was observed in ferility, in pregnancy and the lactations were normal

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
