Abstract Postcolonial fiction has tendency to give the resistance of post colonized people, but it does not have to be trusted at all because sometimes the author of postcolonial fiction fails to offer the alternative space for the post colonized. Therefore, it should be rethought that author of postcolonial fiction is not only offering the resistance but also the continuity of colonial project. With the theory of spatial politics which includes the place, space, chaos, overwrite, and post-space, this suspicion can be made true. One of the novels that can be studied is Aravind Adiga’s The White Tiger. From this can describe the resistance of post colonized Indian and how post colonialism described as spatial politics in Aravind Adiga’s The White Tiger. Therefore, the spatial politics can be truly uncovered. Keywords: Postcolonial fiction, Resistance, and Spatial politics

An Ecocritical Reading of Aravind Adiga's The White Tiger

Why choose this novel for ecocritical investigation? Connections, that's where an ecocritic begins. Thematically the novel investigates how representations, from the Vedas to 'Sting', connect with, and influence actions in the material world. Extratextually (outside the novel) Aravind Adiga, the author of The White Tiger (2008), was born in Madras, in 1974. And as the target readers for this essay are students situated in Chennai, this novel seems likely to stimulate students' interest because of its author's place connections. On a practical note, a book by an Indiar, author of international fame (the novel won The Man Booker Prize in 2008) is likely to be available in Chennai. In keeping with accessibility for the students, and with the. novel's mischievous use of technology and web connections (see http:// www.whitetiger-technologydrivers.com/) this essay will include: source information from the internet. In addition, Adiga has Australian citizenship, which is where I come in. Connections. Interrelationships. Interdependencies. Ecocriticism, then, encourages connections between regions, histories, cultures, languages and so on, but always, it examines the way in which 'nature' is represented

Although the blockchain technology has been used to address various challenges, to our knowledge none of the previous work focused on using Blockchain to develop a secure and immutable scientific data provenance management framework that automatically verifies the provenance records. In this work, we leverage Blockchain as a platform to facilitate trustworthy data provenance collection, verification, and management. The developed system utilizes smart contracts and open provenance model (OPM) to record immutable data trails. We show that our proposed framework can securely capture and validate provenance data that prevents any malicious modification to the captured data as long as the majority of the participants are honest. ©2018 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). The aim of this dissertation is to analyse and attempt to accurately define the notion of cultureme, with a particular emphasis on how it is used in literature. I will attempt to answer some key questions, such as: what is a cultureme? What differentiates culturemes from other linguistic notions? How do translators bridge the gap that culturemes create in literature? What are some recurrent strategies? Moreover, this dissertation will analyse how translators solve the possible issues they face when translating culturemes in literature. In order to achieve that, a prospective, comparative analysis of the novel The White Tiger, by Indian author Aravind Adiga, and its translation in Spanish (El Tigre Blanco) by Santiago del Rey, will be carried out, examining how cultural references, culturemes and other structures have been translated.

Aqueduct: Task-based entry points in Android apps

Modern smartphones offer voice assistants to ease a variety of tasks. However, the actions that can be performed by current voice assistants are limited – a predefined set of built in actions like checking the weather, and a few hooks that can be built into third-party applications. To extend assistant actions to third-party applications, the onus is on the application developers to manually add support for voice assistant integration. To improve the link between voice assistants and third-party apps, we built Aqueduct, a data driven task-based app search and task entry point discovery system for Android. We search over app UI data augmented with semantic annotations to find applications and screens within those applications that can accomplish a given task. Furthermore, Aqueduct can leverage the package name and the activity name of the discovered screen to automatically navigate users to that screen. A user study was conducted to compile a set of common smartphone tasks and evaluate the effectiveness of Aqueduct, which showed that it is effective at finding task-based entry points for a wide range of tasks. Aqueduct is also useful for augmenting search in application repositories, finding starting points for execution for task-automation systems, and even generating deep link suggestions for applications.Submission published under a 24 month embargo labeled 'U of I Access', the embargo will last until 2021-08-01The student, Aravind Sagar, accepted the attached license on 2019-07-15 at 12:17.The student, Aravind Sagar, submitted this Thesis for approval on 2019-07-15 at 12:24.This Thesis was approved for publication on 2019-07-15 at 14:11.DSpace SAF Submission Ingestion Package generated from Vireo submission #14321 on 2019-11-26 at 13:05:54Made available in DSpace on 2019-11-26T20:49:30Z (GMT). ARAVIND ADIGA’S “THE WHITE TIGER” IS ABOUT POSTCOLONIAL SOCIO-CULTURAL LINGUISTICS

    No full text
Linguistics is the pivot of literature determining its importance in the contemporary society. The merit of a literary text largely depends on the language as it reflects the politics evaluated by the author in an impressive way. In the research paper entitled “Postcolonial Socio-Cultural Linguistics in Aravind Adiga’s The White Tiger” explores the matter and manner in the linguistic narration. The discourse travels from postcolonial hybridity and marginality to postmodern co-existence. Various literary tools used by Adiga and the liberty taken by him to discuss the drastic change over in the attitude of the contemporary socio-cultural scenario are evaluated. The author has attempted to subvert the elitist historiography and to create a common platform for the co-existence of the elite and subaltern narratives. He has made use of the postcolonial discourse to erase the bordering perceptions and paved way for mutual coexistence where both the centre and periphery can overlap and take the other side with strenuous effort.   &nbsp

High-efficiency biomass gasifier SOFC systems with direct internal tar reforming

    No full text
Removing biosyngas contaminants is crucial for the efficient and safe operation of biomass gasifier solid oxide fuel cells systems. Among the contaminants, tar might be considered an additional fuel if converted into H2 and CO in a reformer or directly in the SOFC. However, no sufficient information is available on direct internal tar reforming. The knowledge gained during the 4-years project FlexiFuel-SOFC is presented. The aim of these studies was to determine the possibility to directly reform tar in the SOFC, and to assess the influence that other biosyngas contaminants (i.e., H2S and HCl) can have on the process. Benzene can be regarded as fuel, while naphthalene as a contaminant. Also toluene can be reformed inside the SOFC, but HCl seems to affect the process. Acetic acid is completely converted inside SOFCs and its conversion appears not affected by H2S. However, it causes carbon deposition, mainly in the inlet pipelines.Accepted Author ManuscriptEnergy Technolog
