    Sri Dattarama's Ajirna Manjari – A Discrete Reference Book on Indigestion

    Objectives: Ajirna manjari is a discrete reference book on indigestion authored by Sri Dattarama on multitudinous facets of indigestion. This Samskrita language based text authored in earlier part of nineteenth century. As it is a short reference book it contains only 105 verses and there are no chapter divisions. To review the important concepts and advancement of Ajirna manjari; To perform literary analysis on Ajirna manjari and Ajirnamrita manjari text books. Data Source: All printed version of Ajirna manjari and Ajirnamrita manjari with Hindi and English translations were procured for this literature study. Review Methods: Initially literary search has been done verse by verse to find out the basic structure, details of author, time of inscription, language usage and important concepts narrated in Ajirna manjari. Further advancement of Ajirna manjari is explored by considering six such similar works. As it has close connection with Ajirnamrita manjari, their relationship is tried to establish by clearing dubieties. Results: Crux of the text is, single drug and varied number of counter food articles and 35 formulations for the treatment of indigestion. Rigorous quest disclosed more than 35 genre of Ajirna manjari and related manuscripts are found across India and overseas. Current text underwent six adaptations in due course of time. Among these, Ajirna manjari is having close connection Ajirnamrita manjari. Conclusion: Ajirna manjari is an exceptional and exclusive reference book on indigestion available in Ayurveda. Six fold adaptations of Ajirna manjari suggests that it is a updated version of Ajirnamrita manjari text

    Review on Rasa Manjari - A Text of Indian Alchemy

    Ayurveda is a multidimensional science using a set of complex pharmaceutical combinations in treatment. Rasashastra, pharmaceutical science mainly deals with the processing and therapeutic utilization of mercury, metals and minerals. Rasa Manjari is one of the important ancient texts on ancient Indian alchemy written by Shri Shalinatha in Approx. 15th century AD. Two commentaries are available on this text. Subject matter of the text contains total 862 verses which are divided into 10 chapters. There is description of Dhatuvada (conversion of lower metals into higher metals) and Dehavada (therapeutic usage of metals and minerals) of Mercury (Parada). The present paper will highlight the review of Rasa Manjari, providing information about the author, text and contributions.</jats:p

    Chikitsa Manjari a Palm leaf manuscript of Odisha preserved in Odisha state museum Bhubaneswar has got the national importance by Govt. of India as National Heritage which bears a great importance of its kind &amp; nature. There are thousands of palm leaf manuscripts in India both in Govt. / Private repositories along with personal domain also.A survey has been made by National manuscript mission, Govt. of India to identify the important Palm leave manuscripts of India available. Out of which “Chikitsa Manjari “ a Palm leaf manuscript of Odisha having 13 copies are found preserved in Odisha state museum, Bhubaneswar with different Individual conditions. Out of them Sl. No Ayurveda/82 as per the accession register of museum has been identified as the only manuscript which has been authorized as “The Manuscript treasure of India“. This paper deals with the detail workout of all the manuscripts available in the museum in the name of Chikitsa Manjari. The documentation of the same is essential in different languages of India for understanding its importance in future as an important manuscript of India &amp; Ayurveda.

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
