    Unlocking the Therapeutic Essence of Hingwadi Agada: An Ayurvedic Heritage In Healing Practices

    Agadatantra is an essential part of Ashtanga Ayurveda, dealing with the clinical aspects of poisoning, including its identification and therapeutic interventions. Vrischika visha is one of the critical clinical conditions requiring emergency care. Various antidotal formulations in Ayurveda known as Agada Yoga’s (anti-toxic formulations) are useful in Vrischika Visha Chikitsa. Hingwadi Agada is one of the Agada Yoga’s mentioned by Acharya Vagbhatta in Ashtanga Hridaya. Aim and objectives: Based on the function of Hingwadi Agada ingredients are described in various classical texts, this review and debate will focus on Vrischika Visha Damsha. Materials and Method: Several classical texts were referred, namely Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, Ashtanga Hridaya, Ashtanga Sangraha, various Nigantus and textbooks like the Dravyaguna Vigyana and Peer Review articles. Observations and Results: According to Acharya Vagbhatta, Hingwadi Agada includes two main ingredients along with a single processing medium all of which possess properties such as Deepana (appetite-stimulating), Pachana (digestive enhancing), Shulahara (analgesic). Sothahara (anti-inflammatory), Sonithsthapana (blood stabilizing), Vatanuloma (regulating the Vata Dosha etc. Conclusion: According to Acharya Vagbhatta\u27s Vrischika Damsha Chikitsa, Hingwadi Agada holds potential as an effective antidote and deserves to be explored through clinical and experimental trials for treating Vrischika Visha

    An Ayurvedic Approach in the Management of Female Infertility Caused due to Uterine Factor

    Infertility due to multiple factors is one of the predominant health issues faced by married couples nowadays. It is common in 10-15% of couples. Both male and female factors contribute to the infertility. Ayurvedic approach is helpful in these steps to improve the overall health of the women. Shodhana therapy like Virechana and Basti work as the Garbha Adhana Shodhana procedure in the female and brings the Doshas in the Sama Avastha which will eventually help in conception. Materials and Methods: The case presented in the study is of a married couple who have been anxious to conceive for 9 years. She was started on Ayurvedic Shamana therapy to regularize her menstrual cycles last year. Later, she was admitted to the IPD for the Virechana and Yoga Basti procedure. Results: During the treatment, the patient regained regular menstrual cycles. She also has initiation of regular ovulation and has improvement in endometrial proliferation and layering. Conclusion: It is a case of infertility that includes multiple female factors such as uterine fibroids, uterine synechiae, irregular menstrual cycles, anovulation, and low AMH levels. Based on the parameters of Ayurvedic science this case was diagnosed as Vandhyatwa (infertility) The treatment included Shamana therapy to suppress the vitiated Vata and Kapha Dosha, and Shodhana to improve the Stroto Shuddhi for ovulation indication and adequate formation of endometrial layering. Hence, Ayurveda treatment can be used in patients with infertility with better outcomes

    Madhukadi Agada in Lutha Visha Cikitsa

    Agadatantra is a specialised branch of Ayurveda that deals with study of poisons, their effects on human body and their management. The principles of Agadatantra provide a framework for understanding and managing venomous bites in general. In Ayurveda, Visha is classified as Sthavara and Jangama visha. Lutha visha is one among the Jangama Visha. Identification and treatment of Lutha visha is an important task as improper handling of the cases may worsen the condition. Madhukadi Agada is a formulation mentioned in the context of Lutha visha, explained in Caraka Samhitha, Visha Cikitsa Adhyaya. The formulation comprises eight ingredients and can be administered as Panam (internal administration) with honey. This paper attempts to review the formulation Madhukadi Agada and to analyse its usefulness in similar conditions

    Ayurvedic Management of Psoriasis

    Psoriasis is a common chronic, immune-mediated dermatological condition characterized by the rapid proliferation of keratinocytes, leading to the formation of erythematous thick, scaly indurated plaques. It is affecting approximately 2-3% of the global population, it possesses significant physical and psychological burdens. The aetiology of psoriasis is multifactorial, involving genetic predisposition, environmental triggers, behavioural changes and immune system dysregulation. This disease commonly manifests on the skin over elbows, knees, scalp, chest, lumbo-sacral areas, and intergluteal clefts. At present, there is no permanent cure, and modern medical science focuses on providing symptomatic relief. However, skin disorders often respond better to Ayurvedic treatment. A 37-year-old male, presented to the OPD with complaints of itching all over his body, along with thickened silvery scaling, especially over the scalp, with an erythematous base and red patches all over his body for 10 years. He was exhausted and depressed after finding no relief on trying various systems of medicine. After examination of the patient, an Ayurvedic treatment protocol was designed, including external and internal medication. Significant improvement was noticed in all symptoms. Assessment was done using PASI score which reduced from 24.8 to 6. The duration of treatment was 45 days, follow-up after a month

    Ayurvedic Management of Endometriosis

    Endometriosis is a painful and chronic condition that affects women of reproductive age, marked by the growth of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterine cavity. It is accompanied by debilitating pelvic pain, infertility, and potentially malignant transformations, significantly impacting quality of life. Endometriosis affects an estimated 1 in 10 women of reproductive age worldwide. The ovaries and pelvic peritoneum are the most common sites for developing endometriotic lesions. This is the case report of a 24year old unmarried female, who presented with irregular menstrual cycles with heavy menstrual bleeding and severe dysmenorrhea associated with giddiness, vomiting. On USG she was diagnosed with right ovarian endometriotic cyst. Based on the clinical features presented by the patient, medications possessing Amapachana, Agnideepana, Kaphapittasamana, Vataanulomana, Granthihara and Lekhana properties were administered. After seven months of internal medications symptoms reduced considerably and there was no ovarian endometriotic cysts in USG

    Tantrayukthi is defined as the methodology and technique which enable one to compare and interpret scientific treatises correctly and intelligently. Only through the study and contextual application of these techniques, one can comprehend Ayurvedic principles completely. Ashtanga Sangraha of Acharya Vagbhata is an ancient authoritative text on Ayurveda, studied since many centuries by students, scholars and practitioners of Indian medicine. Because of its archaic style of composition and terse language, certain amount of difficulty is being experienced. Since all the Tantrayukthis cannot be done as a single work, this study is an attempt to find out the application of Adhikarana and Yoga Tantrayukthi in Asthanga Sangraha Sutrasthana based on Neelamegha’s definition

    Awareness of Garbhopaghatakara Bhavas: A Step Towards Prevention of Teratologic Abnormalities During Pregnancy

    Ayurveda is a holistic science which incorporates not only the treatment but also centred for root cause of developmental abnormalities from birth. In present science the presence of teratological abnormalities is a burning issue which inner rates is around 3–5% of live births each year. Garbhopaghatakara Bhavas disrupts the foetus\u27s normal growth and development, includes changes in the mother\u27s food, habits, behaviours, and exposures throughout the perinatal period. Among pregnancy\u27s most devastating outcomes are deformed living foetuses. Anything known to result in foetal abnormalities that a person consumes or is exposed to during pregnancy is referred to as a teratogen. Teratogens include things like chemicals, medications, drugs, some illnesses, and poisonous substances. Additionally, teratogens can raise the chance of stillbirth, premature labour, or miscarriage. Occasionally, the birthing parents have unmanaged health issues. This is an attempt to examine the Garbhopaghatakara Bhavas and teratogenicity during pregnancy of the mother and children. These Garbhopaghatakara bhavas are described under three modes which is dietetics mode of life i.e., Ati Ushana (excessive use of hot), Ati Madhura (excessive use of sweet), Atyalap Bhojana (less quantity of food), Madayapana (using wine daily) etc., physical mode of life i.e., Utakata aasana (squatting or sitting in abnormal position), Vyavaaya (coitus), Vayayaam (improper and excessive exercise), Vegavidharana suppression of natural urges) and mental or psychological mode of life i.e., Bhaya (psychologically constantly fear), Shauka (always distressed or grieved), Karodha (anger), Apriyavlokana sharavanaad (listening to unpleasant words)

    Interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) encompass a diverse group of disorders that affect the lung parenchyma or interstitium, leading to inflammation and progressive scarring of lung tissue. This process results in thickening and stiffening of the lung tissue, impairing the lungs\u27 ability to expand and fill with air. As occupational disorders rise in society, particularly conditions like ILD, there is an increasing need for preventive healthcare approaches. While current invasive diagnostic methods and therapeutic interventions offer certain benefits, they often come with drawbacks such as side effects and high costs. Ayurvedic medicine, with its holistic focus on prevention and individualized treatment, offers a promising alternative. By addressing underlying imbalances and promoting overall wellness, Ayurvedic remedies could provide a feasible and effective solution for managing symptoms of ILD and preventing its progression, aligning with modern healthcare\u27s push towards more natural and sustainable care practices

    Effect of Chavyadi Masthu and Selected Yoga Techniques in Obesity

    Obesity is a complex multi-factorial disease and a major risk factor for many non-communicable diseases which invites several pathological complications. Obesity is defined as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that may impair health. The prevalence of obesity is now rapidly increasing worldwide due to increased sedentary lifestyles, physical inactivity, and unhealthy diets. Eating more calories than one burn in daily activity on a long-term basis causes the extra calories to add up and cause obesity. By proper Ayurvedic management which includes lifestyle modification in the form of a healthy diet and regular exercises like Yoga, the burden of obesity can be reduced. In this study, an Ayurvedic dietary formulation, Chavyadi Masthu and practice of selected Yogasanas were taken as interventions. 31 obese participants between the age group of 25 and 50 were selected and administered Chavyadi Masthu preparation with regular practice of selected Yoga techniques for 3 months. BMI, waist circumference, hip circumference, waist hip ratio and skin-fold thickness were assessed on 0th, 31st, 61st, 91st days along with lipid profile and FBS on 0th and 91st day. Analysis of data revealed that the interventions were effective in reducing body mass index, waist-hip ratio, waist circumference, hip circumference, skin-fold thickness, total cholesterol, serum triglyceride, LDL and VLDL and FBS levels and improvement in HDL with a significant level p<0.05

    Ayurvedic Management of Artava Kshaya

    Gynecological problems are rising quickly in today\u27s fast-paced and competitive world due to sedentary lifestyles, poor eating habits etc. The menstrual cycle is significantly impacted by changes in both physical and mental health. Menstrual disorders are becoming more common in gynecological practices, which is a sign of infertility and other issues. One prevalent menstruation disorder is Artava kshaya (oligomenorrhoea). As, Artava is Updhatu of Rasa dhatu and modification in Ahara leads to Dushti of Rasa lead to Artava dushti leading to Artava kshaya. Case Report: A female patient of 20 years of age came to OPD of SDACH, Chandigarh, on 25th November 2023 with chief complaint of delayed menstruation with scanty flow since 6 months. Methodology: Detailed history with all necessary clinical, physical examination and laboratory investigations were carried out. No gross physical and chemical abnormality was found. All the laboratory investigations (including USG and hormonal analysis) were found to be normal. So, the treatment was planned according to the symptoms. Diagnosis was made on the of presenting complaints which was Artava kshaya (oligomenorrhoea). Patient was treated with Nasthapushpanthak Rasa and Krishana Tila Kwath along with diet and lifestyle modification for 3 consecutive cycles. Patient was kept on follow up for 3 cycles after cessation of all medications. Result: Patient had got her menstruation regularly with normal duration while taking medicine. Also, the amount of flow was also improved and intensity of pain was reduced effectively from moderate to mild. Even after cessation of medicine she got her menstruation in 32 days with normal amount of flow
