Examining the Global Environmental Impact of Regional Consumption Activities - Part 2: Review of input-output models for the assessment of environmental impacts embodied in trade.

    No full text
This paper offers a detailed review of recently described single- and multi-region input–output models used to assess environmental impacts of internationally traded goods and services. It is the second part of a two-part contribution. In Part 1 [Turner, K., Lenzen, M., Wiedmann, T. and Barrett, J. in press. Examining the Global Environmental Impact of Regional Consumption Activities — Part 1: A Technical Note on Combining Input–Output and Ecological Footprint Analysis; Ecological Economics.] we describe how to enumerate the resource and pollution content of inter-regional and inter-national trade flows with the aim to illustrate an ideal accounting and modelling framework for the estimation of Ecological Footprints. A large number of such environment-economic models have been described but only in the last few years models have emerged that use a more sophisticated multi-region, multi-sector input–output framework. This has been made possible through improvements in data availability and quality as well as computability. We identify six major models that employ multi-sector, multi-region input–output analysis in order to calculate environmental impacts embodied in international trade. Results from the reviewed studies demonstrate that it is important to explicitly consider the production recipe, land and energy use as well as emissions in a multi-region, multi-sector and multi-directional trade model with global coverage and detailed sector disaggregation. Only then reliable figures for indicators of impacts embodied in trade, such as the Ecological Footprint, can be derived

International demand for food and services drives environmental footprints of pesticide use

    No full text
This is a dataset for data generated in Tang et al. (2022). This dataset includes three Supplementary Data files, five source data files, and the georeferenced global maps of pesticide hazard loads for 175 crops. The pesticide hazard loads are defined as the total body weight (bw) of non-target organisms required to absorb pesticides accumulated in the environment at an annual intake that will not result in observable adverse effects. The pesticide hazard load maps have a unit of kg-bw. The maps and analyses refer to the pesticide use as of 2015. Details of the methods used to produce these maps and analyses can be found in Tang et al. (2022).  Tang F.H.M, Malik A., Li M., Lenzen M., and Maggi F. (2022).

Den Band beschließt eine unter der Herausgeberschaft von Kurt Pawlik und Bernhard Dahme erstellte Dokumentation der institutionellen und Personalentwicklung der akademischen Psychologie an der Universität Hamburg seit 1950.period of time that encompasses the two World Wars, a Cold War and the transformation from the Empire through the "Third Reich" to democracy, the department has not only remained in Hamburg, but has also differentiated and developed considerably. On the occasion of this jubilee, the Department of Psychology documents in this volume some of the developmental stages of academic psychology in Hamburg. The contributions by Kurt Pawlik, Bernhard Dahme, Manfred Amelang, Frank Rösler, Martin Spieß and Tania Lincoln tell the story of academic psychology in Hamburg from very different, subjective perspectives. Paul Probst\u27s contributions to the beginnings of academic psychology in Hamburg with Ernst Meumann and William Stern are an exception. The volume has been published by Kurt Pawlik and Bernhard Dahme as editors of a documentary on institutional and personnel development in academic psychology at the University of Hamburg since 1950
