Indonesian Islamic Academic Libraries Amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic A Social Media Observation
From a historical perspective, Islamic libraries have a unique role, starting from
being a center for learning, research and translation up to being a hub of
technological innovations. As technology develops, they are transformed into modern
libraries that are adaptive to technology. Since the pandemic hit Indonesia, Islamic
libraries, especially in the academic realm, have also been adapting to provide
extensive library services to their patrons. This study aims to describe the role of
Islamic academic libraries in Indonesia amid the pandemic. These observations were
focused on the social media owned by the library, specifically their Instagram (IG)
accounts. Three IG accounts of Islamic academic libraries in Indonesia were observed
in this study: UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library, UII Library, and UMY Library. The three
libraries were considered to represent the characteristics of Islamic academic
libraries in Indonesia. This study will be observing the volume and variant of the
libraries’ posting materials during the last three months (September-November 2020)
in Instagram. Aside from this, user engagement will be measured using analisa.io
analytics. In addition, this study will describe the role of Islamic academic libraries
in Indonesia in socializing and disseminating the dangers and prevention of COVID-
19 which can serve as a model for evaluation for other libraries against the pandemic
How's Our Library E-Service? Measuring User Satisfaction in the Virtual Environment
Objective. This study aims to determine the satisfaction with the virtual reference service of library users of Nazarbayev University Library during the Spring 2021 to Spring 2022 semesters. Methods. This study employed a descriptive approached to determine the satisfaction of users with the virtual service of Nazarbayev University Library during the Spring 2021 to Spring 2022 semesters. Using the data gathered from LibAnswers’ Quality of Service (QoS), this study examines various metrics in answering the queries received both in synchronous (chat service) or asynchronous (email service) virtual service. Statistical data from were tabulated and analyzed and the feedback from patrons will be interpreted using Voyant Tools, a web-based data visualization software. Results. The study describe how patrons were satisfied with the virtual library service of NU Library as perceived through their feedback and their overall experience of the service. In addition, the study pointed out that the Library considers all virtual transactions urgent and put the satisfaction of their patrons on top priority based on the metrics. Conclusions. The study revealed that patrons were satisfied with the virtual service rendered by NU Library both in synchronous and asynchronous format. With the help of the metrics generated from LibAnswers Quality of Service (QoS) feature, the NU Library was able to provide an excellent service despite the limitations brought by the pandemic. The feedback from patrons was indeed a proof of their satisfaction. As service quality and user satisfaction will always go together, the library, as a service-oriented information arm of any institution, should always put their patrons as their top priority

BRINGING MIL INTO THE MARGINS: INTRODUCING MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY AT THE OUTSKIRTS
With the vast amount of information readily available online, not to mention the gaining popularity and use of social media platforms and the rampant proliferation of alternative facts and news fabrication that affects decision-making, it is indeed empirical for everyone to be media and information literate. More true in it sense, people living in areas with limited or no internet access at all should be more critical and analytical about every information they encounter as this may affect their perspectives on things and life in general. This paper documents how media and information literacy was promoted and introduced to selected Senior High School (SHS) students and teachers of Loyola College of Culion (LCC) in Isla Culion, Palawan, Philippines. Theeffectiveness of the seminar-workshops conducted among the participants was also determined as well as their working knowledge on MIL through some tests and group activities. This case study also revealed that the participants’ working knowledge has increased after being exposed to the lectures and activities. Furthermore, the participants highlighted how they found MIL valuable in critically evaluating sources of information and how to use social media responsibly. In addition, the participants found the seminar-workshop engaging and recommended to have more sessions like this in improved in the future

WE’RE GETTING ENGAGED! FOSTERING STUDENT ENGAGEMENT IN A VIRTUAL LIBRARY INSTRUCTION
Keeping students engaged can be considered one of the most challenging tasks in a one-shot library instruction. Given the limited time for these kinds of sessions (usually 50 mins to an hour), it became even more apparent when librarians were forced to teach these sessions in a virtual setup as the pandemic substantially changed the mode of instruction. Fostering student engagement through the introduction of various tools and applications as well as implementing some teaching strategies during the session is now the name of the game and librarians are now expanding their horizons to incorporate these new strategies into their sessions. This presentation documents how students were kept engaged in an online library session conducted at Nazarbayev University (NU) Library. The use of various tools and applications such as Padlet, Quizziz, and Slido were implemented to ensure student engagement. In addition, the experiences of Subject Librarians including the challenges encountered and the ideas for improvement in teaching the sessions were also shared in this presentation

CATALOGUING PRACTICES IN KAZAKHSTAN AMIDST PANDEMIC: THE NAZARBAYEV UNIVERSITY LIBRARY EXPERIENCE
The COVID-19 pandemic has indeed brought a
drastic change both in industries and educational
institutions around the globe. This crisis has forced
many governments to close many institutions, even
cultural centers such as libraries, to minimize
physical and social interactions with the hope of
“flattening the curve.” The same is true in
Kazakhstan. Libraries are forced to close their doors
physically but still expected to respond to the
informational needs of their clients remotely. As
many schools and universities are now shifting into
the online mode of learning, libraries are putting
their best efforts to providing synchronous and
asynchronous services to their clients during the
pandemic..
