THE ROLE OF LEADERSHIP IN TEACHERS’ SELF-EFFICACY
The self-efficacy of teachers is an important aspect that must be considered in evaluating educational systems. It is affected by several factors such as teachers’ professional development, motivation, and satisfaction. These factors are in turn, affected by leadership roles in the educational system. This paper aimed to determine the correlation between the role of leadership and teachers’ self-efficacy through these factors. A qualitative approach was used where secondary analysis of written articles was conducted. The demographic of the sample in each journal article studied included primary, secondary, and tertiary schoolteachers in Europe. Results show that the factors under study are affected by the leadership roles of principals, school administrators, and teachers. Leadership roles improve teachers’ professional development, boost motivation, and increase job satisfaction which as a result, affects the self-efficacy of teachers. Thus, the leadership roles of principals, school administrators, and teachers, particularly a transformational type of leadership in contrast with a transactional form of leadership, affect the self-efficacy of teachers positively and ultimately their performance in their classes.
Ways of Effective School Management: The Role of School Principals in Building of Quality and Effective School
Effective school management is an important responsibility for principals around the globe, for this purpose different organizations create workshops, responsibility divisions, and training programs to be able to maintain a well-organized environment. Among the many opinions regarding the role of school principals, few can argue that they are the driving force behind the most effective and academically rigorous schools in the country. School principals need to be financially responsible too, and in order to be successful in this area, it is critical to have the support of parents, students, and the community. School management productively becomes a support for creating a generation of high achievers and for the implementation of a school culture that adapts to society\u27s needs. Principals who understand the challenges associated with leadership are more likely to build excellent school culture. This paper aims to contribute experience and ideas of effective school management, not only for the principal but also for the school\u27s improvement and effectiveness. It will also explore the nature and essence of effective school management. This study will follow a quantitative research methodology; the literature review will discuss the factors affecting school management and the role of the principal in this regard. This study will help other researchers to understand the issues related to school management and the effectiveness of principals as leaders. This study further aims to examine whether the principals\u27 emotional intelligence makes them more effective transformational leaders (specifically, their ability to recognize emotional states in others), as demonstrated by how emotions are framed. For the research purpose, a total of 69 randomly selected primary school\u27s data were analyzed for their principals and teachers. The principals took part in a performance task that assesses their ability to identify and communicate emotions. Among the teachers\u27 samples, half reported on principal leadership behaviors. In contrast, others commented on teachers\u27 subjective perceptions of principals, as displaying leadership behaviors that reinforce teachers\u27 reframing of unfavorable emotions into more positive ones. Teachers\u27 emotional reframing, and principals\u27 ability to recognize emotions, were associated with principals\u27 transformational leadership behaviors [1]
Factors Affecting to Demotivation of Teachers and Their Work Productivity at Secondary Schools
Individual and organizational performance is crucially dependent on staff or members\u27 motivation. A very competent and well-trained team member can not work efficiently until they are motivated to do so. Research into teacher motivation is restricted both globally. Rises in student enrollment, attendance statistics, and delivery of noon meals do not reflect the accurate image of our country\u27s school system\u27s condition. High dropout rates from secondary to higher-level education, the blame for that lies with the educators, who are demotivated and disheartened due to lack of parental collaboration and administrative inequality. The study investigates the productivity deviations based on demotivating factors for teachers at secondary schools. Demotivational factors such as personal variables, parental collaboration, administration, infrastructure, student performance, and behavior impact teachers\u27 efficiency at secondary schools. To meet study objectives, secondary data (structured interviews, questionnaire, profile form) were collected from the literature review of both kinds, qualitative and quantitative, to evaluate the effects of such demotivational factors on teachers\u27 performance. Descriptive data from the case studies analyzed and its relatedness is being compared with the prominent motivational theories. It\u27s been concluded that parental collaboration, school administration, and infrastructure affect a lot more significant than the personal attributes and profile form. Studies elaborated that the primary cause of teachers\u27 demotivation is parents and administration. These demotivating variables reduce the average success of the instructor, which also influences the student scoring. It is advocated for parents and administrators to provide educators with a productive workforce in which they can deal with their challenges.
Factors Causing a Decrease in Teachers\u27 Productivity and Hindering to Retention
This paper will discuss different factors that cause the teachers to display low productivity. For that purpose, the study considered a mixed method that used both qualitative and quantitative research. The Researchers took views of forty principals through a survey that were serving elementary schools. This study collected their opinions regarding various factors affecting the teacher\u27s productivity. According to the results obtained, low teacher productivity was mainly related to veteran teachers who have gone through an external or internal shift in their careers. A second major factor was teachers going through a crisis in their own lives that affected their professional career performance and productivity. The following research will look into a proper theoretical framework related to the decrease in teacher\u27s productivity and will even try to suggest some solutions and remedies. This research\u27s second primary purpose is to look into different causes that hinder teachers\u27 retention and job satisfaction. Once more, for this study, the study applied a mix of qualitative and quantitative research methods. A total of 119 teachers participated in this survey who answered a questionnaire composed of different factors that negatively impacted a teacher\u27s motivation and will to stay in their profession
Qualities of Effective Teachers; Factors Affecting the Teachers Commitment
Teaching is a demanding and complex craft. It is impossible to discuss in a page or two the characteristics and input of an effective teacher. Effective teaching is the fundamental ingredient for the success of every student. Teachers are the central figure of the educational infrastructure of any country, and have a huge role to play in shaping the destiny of their nation. It is a noble and selfless profession. The following paper provides and introduction to the literature regarding Teacher effectiveness. This paper displays the input of the teacher in a society, what challenges they have to counter, and what recommendations can be implemented to improve the development and effectiveness of the teachers. In this study the impact and importance of effective teachers in being investigated through the feedback from both the teachers and the students. And a comparison and inter relationship between the both opinions is being developed.
On the other hand Lack of teacher commitment is one of the key factors that have the potential to cause the shortage of effective teachers all over the world. There are multiple factors that might cause teachers to leave their jobs. These can be low salaries, extravagant workload, poor working conditions, low quality of teacher preparation programs, inefficient leadership etc. In the following research work a qualitative and quantitative method was implied to study the working condition environment and teacher attrition patterns. It was seen that school with satisfactory and proper working conditions displayed a better commitment and lower attrition rates. This study also documented the patterns of teacher retention rates across multiple schools, which had different policies, and student demographics
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
