Sustainability as a main criterion in buying behavior : case: children's clothes
The thesis focuses on the global environmental issues generated by fashion industry. The purpose of this study to investigate if sustainability is a main criterion in buying behavior of children’s clothes. The author aimed to test awareness of climate impact of fashion industry and raise awareness among consumers and influence them to become more responsible buyers.
Theoretical framework introduces the basic theory relating to consumer behavior and the decision-making process, which is assembled from numerous publications, e-books, articles and webpages. The theory part continues with impact of fashion industry to the environment, sustainability of fashion industry and discussion about circular economy, factors affecting buying decision and sustainability of consumer behavior.
Mixed method with questionnaire and interview is used to find out if consumers are aware of fashion industry’s huge impact on the environment, which factors affect consumer behavior, and if sustainability is the main factor affecting purchase decision.
Main findings of this research indicate that diverse factors affect purchase decision, such as quality, price, durability, comfortability. Even though consumers are aware of environmental issues, sustainability is not the main factor affecting their buying decision.
As sustainability is not the main criterion to affect buying decision, further study is needed to investigate different strategies which can influence consumers to change their behavior towards more sustainable consumption
Устойчивые соединения в разносистемных языках и их когнитивно-языковые особенности
The general theoretical issues of set phrases have yet to be studied at the level of the requirements of modern linguistics, the position of such language units has not been clearly defined, and their boundaries with other phrases remain uncertain. Issues such as the nature of set phrases, their formation, types, and attitude to other linguistic units, especially words and sentences, features of development, still need to be addressed in linguistics. The article's author explains that set phrases from the point of view of the language are the most exciting units that express the spirit of the people. The main features of stable combinations are their nominative and communicative functions. The author also discusses the differences between set phrases and complimentary combinations of words. Particular attention is paid to connecting complex term combinations to stable combinations.
Dialectological research in Norway
Since dialects have not been in the focus of linguists for a long time, systematic research in this field dates back only to the 19th century. Dialectology as a scientific field began to develop in the 1920s, following the German writer Jacob Grimm's justification of the need for a historical approach to language. At that time, the renowned dialectologist Johann Andreas Schmeller also published several dialectological works. Thus, historical dialectology studies the dialects existing in a specific area, their linguistic features, and is referred to as regional dialectology, dialect geography, or traditional dialectology. However, modern dialectological research is primarily focused on studying each dialect and individual language separately. Additionally, dialects have been studied in comparison with other dialects or in relation to literary language and specific historical contexts. Modern dialectology encompasses various linguistic methods and approaches that present language differences through the analysis of corpus data and the application of modern technologies in linguistics.Furthermore, the historical factors of the period influence dialectological studies, determining their characteristics. Research conducted in the field of Norwegian dialectology is no exception in this regard. Thus, it is reasonable to consider the main historical periods that have influenced the Norwegian language as the Middle Ages (VIII-XIV), the period of National Romanticism (1830-1867), and the period of independence (1905-). It was during these periods that the Norwegian language and dialects were formed, developed and preserved
Standard Language in Norway and Azerbaijan
A standard or common literary language is a cultural and historical event. This language's oral and written form is based on the artistic needs of society and created as a result of particular necessities. The norms of the language are put forward through a standard language, and a neat, grammatically and phonologically "perfect" form of speech emerges. Moreover, a particular order is created, which is applied to local authorities, the press, and education, and they are expected to follow these language rules. Also, a standard literary language is essential for second language learners. Without a standard spoken literary language, foreigners meet difficulties in language learning. For instance, second language learners study a different form of Norwegian in the classroom. Still, they meet Norwegians who use a dialect daily, which can cause misunderstandings for foreigners. There is no official standard language in Norway. However, some linguists do not agree with this statement and associate standard language with prestige and high social status. On the contrary, Azerbaijan has an official common literary language in both spoken and written form.Norway and Azerbaijan's official languages have undergone a series of complicated historical development stages. Norway has two official written languages, bokmål and Nynorsk. Azerbaijan has one official written language, Azerbaijani. Even though Norway has no officially accepted standard spoken language, people sometimes follow standard speaking rules. However, people tend to use dialects or fail to use the standard form of language in Azerbaijan. Therefore, the analysis of the language society in these two countries is of interest
Financial intermediation and economic growth
Financial depth does not fully reflect how well the financial intermediaries serve to economic agents in stimulating economic growth. Additional aspects of financial system such as access, efficiency and stability should be taken into account in order to shed light into the relationship between finance and economic growth. In our paper we capture the four aspects of finance – depth, access, efficiency and stability – to investigate the impact of financial development and economic growth. Our results suggest that the impact of four parameters of financial development differs depending on the level of financial development and has an inverted S-shape function.http://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/132992/1/wp1091.pd
Determinants of depositors’ behaviour: Heterogeneous panel estimates
This paper empirically evaluates determinants of depositors’ behaviour in Azerbaijan. The response of depositors to macroeconomic, alternative investment and bank specific shocks is analysed by implementing recently developed panel time series methods that are robust to regional heterogeneity and inter-dependencies. We consider that macroeconomic and alternative investment factors are initially exogenous to the banking system and hit all banks simultaneously. Using a monthly panel dataset of Azerbaijan from January 2009 to June 2015, the paper provides new evidence regarding the importance of relationship between deposits and macroeconomic factors, specifically currency risk. The paper highlights the role of currency risk, as a determinant of depositors’ behaviour and conclude that its role overshadow the importance of alternative investment and bank specific factors in Azerbaijan. Despite of wide variation in response of depositors to macroeconomic, alternative investment and bank specific shocks, overall, depositors seem more responsive to risks than previous literature have recognized
Fat Mass Is a Better Predictor of Cardiovascular Disease Risk than Biochemical Parameters in a Type 2 Diabetes Population
Endothelial dysfunction, leading to vascular complication, is a major concern in a type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and obese population. Arterial stiffness is an established predictor of endothelial health and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. Arterial stiffness is commonly measured by two tonometry based tests: pulse wave velocity (PWV) and pulse wave analysis (PWA), which provide the values of Augmentation index-75 (AI-75) and Augmentation Pressure (AP). Serum biochemistries are also used to monitor disease progression. In this cross-sectional study, we wanted to determine which biochemical or biophysical measure is the best overall predictor of arterial stiffness. The measures investigated were: C-Reactive Protein (CRP), IL-6, TNF-alpha, Leptin, Adiponectin, Insulin, Glucose, LDL, Non-HDL Cholesterol, BMI, Total Fat Mass, Fat Free Mass, % fat, % body water, waist circumference, hip circumference, and waist/hip ratio with PWV, AI-75, and AP.
Data from 16 subjects with Diabetes Mellitus ≤ 8 years, age 40-70 years, with HbA1c 6.0 – 9.0, and a BMI of 25 – 39.9 were analyzed.
Looking at the Pearson correlation between individual biochemical and biophysical measures, and the individual measures of Arterial Stiffness (PWV, AI-75, AP), the results show that CRP is very strongly correlated to PWV (p=0.6), and moderately correlated to AP and AI-75 (p=0.44, 0.30). Leptin is found to be relatively equally well correlated to PWV, AI-75, and AP (p=0.30, 0.34, 0.30). However, when looking at a composite AS score (from standardized versions of PWV, AI-75, and AP) versus the biophysical and biochemical measures, the only measures of significance were CRP, Fat Mass, and Hip measurements. When these values were placed in a multivariate model, the only independent predictors of AS were Fat Mass (p=.018), and Hip measurements (p=0.016). When taking the numerous measures of AS into account, it is found that Fat Mass and Hip measurements were the single best predictors of arterial stiffness, even better than any of the serum biochemistry parameters. In conclusion, if we want to determine a single factor which has a the most bearing on a type 2 diabetes subjects arterial stiffness, then degree of fat mass seems to be the best predictor even better than any of the biochemical parameters. Therefore, in our study, fat mass appears to be an important indicator of CVD risk
Development of digital twin ecosystem and ontology in medicine
Summary: Providing citizens with high-quality and safe medical services, providing information support for medical research and continuous medical education, making both doctor’s decisions and management decisions necessitated the provision of tools to ensure complex digitization of healthcare. To achieve these goals, a wide range of modern technologies have emerged. One such technology is digital twin technology.
Modern medicine, being formed in the environment of Health 4.0, includes not only the treatment of patients, but also the management of healthcare, the prevention of diseases and the processes of health restoration. With the increasing popularity of information communication technologies, people’s demand for health services is shifting from offline service to new online models. Currently, the field of online medicine is not developed enough to serve the elderly, chronically ill people and the people with infectious diseases. Using the advantages of digital twins in solving these problems can give positive results.
The article describes the nature, capabilities and applications of digital twin technology. The principles of the formation of the medical digital twin ecosystem are developed to ensure citizens’ accessibility to medical services and to make both medical and managerial decisions. The architecture and structural components of the digital twin ecosystem providing the connection between physical medical objects (patient, hospital, doctor, etc.) and their virtual images are shown. An ontological model for the staged construction and functionalization of the general DT of healthcare is proposed and its hierarchical architecture is establishe
