The Kott patent teaches a devise for measuring atmospheric relative humidity which includes the use of a moisture absorbant cellulosic material impregnated with glycerine. The Richards\u27 patent (174) teaches an electrical sensing element for measuring the moisture condition of soil which com­prises a porous ceramic cup containing a granular porous medium in which two electrodes are buried. It is taught that the water in the medium is in hydraulic adjustment through the wall of the porous ceramic cup with the water in the exterior surrounding soil while the electrodes are positioned, one within the other, for measuring electrical capacitance and resistance of the stan­dard medium within the cup while being free of influence by the electrical properties of the external surrounding media. in Richards\u27 179, an apparatus is disclosed for measuring the matrix suction of soil which is not influenced by the adverse affects due to changes in the salinity and temperature of the soil by employing two water-sensitive resistors, one of which has a relatively coarse pore size and the other a relatively fine pore size. Lastly, Ohsato teaches a device which can function as a humidity-sensitive sensor specifically adapted to use on the window of an automobile.     Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
