Infrastructure for Peace: The African Experience
Get PDFThe study investigated experiences of infrastructures for peace mainly in Kenya and Ghana. It also explored experiences in other parts of Africa, and proceeded to argue a case for their creation in other climes in Africa. Standing peace structures have potentials to help promote peaceful business clime and other conditions necessary for human and societal development. Over the years, unhealthy competitions for limited resources in man’s environment and election triggered violence among others have been consistently increasing threats to peace and security as well as various business- related economic activities in many communities in Africa. There are attempts by Government at various levels to curtail the alarming rate of threats to through governments’ security apparatus, yet threats to peace remains. This informed the need to explore alternative approach. As a cutting-edge approach for violent prevention, conflict intervention and transformation, infrastructure for peace has been found rewarding in addressing conflicts and violent menace. This paper focused on two main examples of infrastructure for peace, which are cabinet-level Ministry of Peace and National or Local Peace Committee/Council. IMPERATIVE OF INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA
Get PDFWhile some countries have attained industrial development and working hard to maintain their status, several others are striving to attain the same feat. Nigeria ranks among countries working towards the attainment of industrial development. The issue of industrial development in Nigeria has attracted a large volume of quantitative examination. However, limited studies are focusing on a qualitative investigation of industrial development in Nigeria. The lack of qualitative studies on Nigerian industrial development constitutes a gap. Hence, this study became necessary, so, as to address the gap. The study’s adopted methodology was an exploratory approach, whereby secondary sources constituted the prime retrieval avenue. Findings from the qualitative investigation indicated that the benefits associated with industrial development are enormous which includes a structural shift in the economy in favour of the industry. The study concludes that industrial development is a necessity. The recommendations that arose from the investigation include a concentric revisit of the industrial development policy in Nigeria. More so, a close monitoring of the proper implementation of industrial policy will serve a concrete purpose. In addition, improving the ease of doing business, enhancing security, and promoting innovation and research can contribute to the growth and competitiveness of Nigerian industries. Businesses must conduct feasibility studies to assess the suitability of potential sites. The optimal location should align with the industry\u27s specific needs, objectives, and growth strategies while considering the broader economic, social, and regulatory context accordingly. If the suggestions provided above are implemented articulately, industrial development is imminent.  
ROLES OF STAKEHOLDERS IN ENTREPRENEURIAL CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND ORGANIZATIONAL SUSTAINABLE PERFORMANCE: AN EXPLORATORY INSIGHT FROM FAST CREDIT
Get PDFThis study critically examines the intricate roles of stakeholders in entrepreneurial corporate governance and their influence on organizational sustainable performance within Nigeria’s evolving financial sector, using Fast Credit Limited (FCL) as a case study. Despite regulatory emphasis on sound governance for financial institutions amid digital transformation, challenges persist in effective stakeholder engagement. Employing an exploratory case study design, the research leveraged secondary data from Fast Credit’s reports, regulatory institutions (CBN, SEC), and scholarly articles. Findings revealed that Fast Credit's made significant achievements in stakeholder integration (40%) through inclusive products like "Kiddies Swag" and digital banking, and robust corporate governance structures (35%) via technologies like Temenos T24 and regulatory compliance. The study concludes that effective stakeholder engagement, is indispensable for value creation and resilience. This study recommends improvement in transparency, fostering collaborative regulatory frameworks, prioritizing ethics, and deepening social inclusion
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
