Instant messaging an effective way of communication in workplace

communication among co-workers. Instant messaging is the multi-tasking tools of choice
most people chatting over IM do other things at the same time. The use of IM in workplace is
less intrusive than the use of phone, more immediate than email and has added advantage due
to the ability to detect presence. In order for institution to maximize increased business
productivity using instant messaging it’s imperative that organizations define and publish
ICT policies, guidelines and regulations.
Overall IM boosts business performance by making operations faster, more agile, and more
efficient with very little additional cost thus Organizations that deploy IM would reap
significant Return on Investment. Institutions should adopt IM meetings which are be more
efficient and less prone to straying off topic, because of the relative effort of typing versus

An Audit of ICT Funding on Effective Integration of ICT’s In Selected TVET Institution in Kiambu and Murang’a County, Kenya
No full textDeveloping countries like Kenya has begun to realize the significant role TVET has to play in the development of a competitive workforce and an equally discouraging realization has arose that governments can no longer be expected to fund TVET to the heights required to meet the needs of the modern world thus Underfunding is an operational problem in the TVET sector. The study was an audit of ICT Funding on Effective Integration of ICTs in TVET institution in Kenya with specific reference to Michuki and Thika Technical Training Institute in Murang’a and Kiambu County respectively. The research adopted quantitative research approach and use probability sampling which is commonly associated with Survey-based research. The study’s main data collection tool was a structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistics was used and simple regression equations were developed to test the strength of association between ICT Funding and integration of ICTs in Kenya TVET sector. The study revealed that Effective Integration is positively correlated with ICT Funding but their relationship is relatively low. The government is the main source of funding ICT projects and is not adequate to finance the ICT projects in the institution since the budget allocated is still relatively low compared to needs and priorities required to effectively implement the ICT integration. The government should and has 80 the primary obligation for TVET institution and should be committed to apportion substantial financial resources to the TVET sector as well as marshalling resources from its partners. The TVET institutions should address the funding challenges they face through generation of other financial resources
A Review of Convergence in Information and Communication Technology

Convergence has arisen as a result of the evolution and popularization of the internet as well as the activities, products and services that have emerged in the digital media space. Convergence plays an important role in society from the economic, social, and development perspective. It can influence the way in which governments develop appropriate policy while looking for social welfare; enterprises compete in the market; and individuals communicate with each other and benefit from efficient and lower-cost, innovative and new value-added products and services. Technological convergence has raised a number of issues of adjustment to the new environment by telecom operators, service providers, policymakers, regulators, and users. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. to invest in frequency spectrum license or in wireless network infrastructure and without having to build up competence in
wireless technologies. The regulators have applauded the new players because they want to enhance competition for the benefit
of the customers. MNOs use underutilized spectrum in various service provisions bringing in specialization in areas such as
data and mobile money. Business competition makes the consumers enjoy benefits from low fees in mobile money, text and
voice services. Kenya lack of legal provision for infrastructure sharing, leaving the operators to consent to autonomous

The sector act as vehicle for low-income people to escape poverty through market-driven productive activities for growth of the economy. Consequently, their role and consequence of economic development have become a major research area in developing countries like Kenya.
Studies have been conducted highlighting the limitations on the growth of micro-enterprises with a view to bringing to the solutions without success. Most enterprises' growth stagnates and eventually flop after some time due to lack of management abilities by most entrepreneurs/ managers. As a result, there was a need to review the
production management procedures that affect the growth of Jua Kali enterprises. The objective of this study was to Evaluate the Production Management Procedureson the Growth ofJua Kali Enterprises in Kenya. The study adopted a cross-sectional research design. The target population was 210 entrepreneurs/ managers of microenterprises registered under Jua Kali association. The primary data was collected using a structured questionnaire.
The data was analysed using both descriptive and inferential statistics with the help of the SPSS 20. Linear
regression analysis was employed to determine the degree of relationship between the Production Management
Procedures and enterprise growth. The result showed that Production Management Procedures had a strong
positive relationship on the growth of Jua Kali enterprises with a Pearson correlations coefficient (r) of 0.656 at 95
percent significance level (p=0.007). The study concluded that Production Management Procedures has influences
on the growth of microenterprise, hence the need for entrepreneurs/ managers to embrace appropriate
management practices to grow businesses that spur the economy of the countr
