Cucurbita moschata or pumpkin can be used as an alternative food mainly due to its carbohydrate content, and it is very easy to grow in many different habitats. The objective of this research was to evaluate the biochemical contents of C. moschata based on the altitudes and also to examine whether any relationship between the environmental conditions and protein, carbohydrate and lipid contents. Proximate analysis was used for statistical consideration of the results obtained. Chemical analysis was conducted by using mesocarp of pumpkin after cleaning, peeling and removing seeds from the center of fruits. Kjedahl and soxhlet methods were used to look at the content of protein and lipid respectively. Meanwhile, the method of difference was employed to measure the percentage of carbohydrates. Although there was no significant relationship between the biochemical contents and the environmental conditions, it was recorded that plants grown at higher altitudes with high soil pH and air temperature tended to have higher protein, carbohydrate and lipid contents, compared to that of higher soil moisture. This results showed that the highest biochemical contents of protein, carbohydrate and lipid of two varieties C. moschata were evident at the lowest altitude

Apple is a fruit with numerous nutrient content alongised high levels of harvest and consumption. The Manalagi is one of the varieties grown in Indonesia, characterized by a yellowish green coloration, sweet taste, as well as easy rot and damage potentials. Hence, many people have encouraged the need to process raw samples into processed juice products. This practice raises the sale value and prolongs the shelflife. However, the apple juice have a major challenge of easy browning and turbidity, resulting from the pectin content. Furthermore, removal is harder due to turbity, exceptthrough enzymatic depectination, with the pectinase enzymes, particularly pectinesterase (PE) and polygalacturonase (PG). The presence of these materials in the juice mixture leads to inherent pectin degradation into smaller fractions and consequently ensures clarity. In addition, the research involved Completely Randomized Factorial Design (CRFD) with two factors, including enzyme concentration (0.5% and 1%) and PG:PE ratio (1: 5, 1: 2, 1: 1, 2: 1; 5 : 1). Therefore, the data obtained were analyzed using two way ANOVA with 5% significance level. The variance analysis result showed the effect of concentration on pH and transmittance value, while the ratio influences Total Soluble Solid (TSS) and transmittance value. In addition, both variables collectively affect pH and viscosity values. The best treatment for manalagi apple juice clarification was obtained with 0.5% concentration samples and PG: PE ratio 5:1

BONE DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN 12-26 MONTHS OF AGE AFTER SEVERAL TIME OF INTERVENTION LEFT BEHINDS.Background: In 1998 a study on the effect of three-month high calcium supplementation on bone growth and motor development of children 7-12 months of age had been carried out by the author. The result of the 1998 study showed that bone growth of the supplemented children was 1.5 times better than that of the children who did not receive high calcium supplementation. Objective: To elaborate whether the family whom participated in 1998 study adoptad the intervention scheme (e.g. consumed high calcium supplementation for their children) during economic crisis in Indonesia.Method: A number of 80 out of 100 families who participated in 1998 were able to contacted and were asked participated in 1999 study. The families comprised 41 families comes from treated group and 39 families comes from control group. Child's consumption both qualitative as well as quantitative were collected by interviewed the mother. Qualitative consumption was collected by using 24-hour recall method. Weight and height of the child were measured. Hand and wrist photo X-ray of the child were taken by using portable X-Ray photo HP-300 model to learn the bone growth. The old of the child in the beginning in this study were between 19 and 33 months. Results: The study revealed that bone development in children whom treated high calcium supplemented developed better (1.3 times) than that of children whom were not supplemented. There were changed feeding habit of mother in variation of kinds food especially high calcium food.Recommendations: The age of supplementation program should be given for six months to show a better impact.Key Words: bone-development, cronological age, bone-age, food supplementatio

Man in his native noblesse? : chivalry and the politics of the nobility in the tragedies of George Chapman

In this thesis I argue that the three plays under consideration - Bussy D'Anbois, The Conspiracy and Tragedy of Charles Duke of Byron, and The Revenge of Bussy D'Ambois - illustrate Chapman's concern with the role of chivalry in England following the debacle of the Essex Rebel lion in 1601. My contention is that, for Chapman, the Essex Rebellion exposed the fragility and the inconsistencies of Elizabethan chivalry and the political threat represented by its preoccupation with martial values. I suggest that in his plays, Chapman sets out to deconstruct the myth of chivalry by exposing it as a romantic concept which is used by the martial nobility as a means of Emphasizing their political rights. The values of chivalry - prowess, honour, loyalty, generosity, courtesy and independence - are shown, by the plays, to be incompatible with the political ambitions of the nobility. By associating themselves with this mythical concept of chivalry, political figures cane to identify their factions with the values of chivalry. Chapman, I argue, shows haw the myth is established and then exposes it for what it is, by portraying his characters as unable to live up to their expected mythical ideals. Chivalry is stripped of its mythical trappings and exposed as militaristic, aggressive and politically motivated. The thesis is divided into five chapters. In the first, I consider Chapman alongside the Tacitean historians who were connected with the Essex circle in the 1590s and show how, in The Conspiracy and Tragedy of Charles Duke of Byron, the dramatist transformed the providentialist narrative of his source into a play with Tacitean connotations, emphasizing the relationship between chivalry and constitutional political theory. In the second chapter I consider Chapman's interest in chivalry and discuss generally the romantic concept of Elizabethan chivalry and its relationship with the political concerns of the nobility. In Chapters Three to Five I discuss Chapman's portrayal of chivalry and its political impliications
