THE BRASILIAN RURAL EDUCATION ANALYZED BY LOURENÇO FILHO IN THE EARLY 1960S
Abstract Lourenço Filho was one of the most important intellectuals to influence the direction of Brazilian education in the 20th century. In the 1950s and 1960s, working in international organizations such as the Organization of American States (OAS), he analyzed the trajectory of rural education in the Americas. In 1962, Lourenço Filho wrote a study for the OAS on rural education, which was not published in Brazil. It is the purpose of the present work to present what this intellectual approached Brazilian rural education in this text sent to the OAS. The methodology used was the documentary analysis on the text of Lourenço Filho. The objective is to present the unpublished contribution in Brazilian publications of this author when dealing with rural education in the early 1960s.</p
Abstract : In the book ?O Segredo da Pirâmide: para uma teoria marxista do jornalismo" [?The Secret of the Pyramid: for a Marxist theory of journalism"], Adelmo Genro Filho stated that journalism is a form of knowledge that is crystallized in the singular. This statement has mobilized journalists, researchers and professors over the last 27 years for the institution and legitimacy of theories of journalism in Brazil. With the theoretical and philosophical framework of Critical Ontology of Marx and Lukács, this study exposes the mediations present in the production and reception of the theory and the philosophical concepts that ground the Genro Filho's statement. The work is divided into two interdependent parts. At first, the text brings the main issues that were necessary to the Brazilian journalism in the 1980s (with emphasis on the academic, journalistic writing and the hierarchy of professionals), the author's biography and how the book was received by professors and researchers on journalism in Brazil. The second part reconstitutes the philosophical bases of the book, recovering the ontological understanding of the author towards journalism and how those fundamentals optimize the understanding of journalism as a form of knowledge proposed by the author. The objective was to demonstrate how the author's theoretical choices have close connection with his biography and how he understood the issues of his time. Simultaneously, through the analysis about the book's reception, it was possible to establish a cartography of the Brazilian production based on 411 texts mentioning "The Secret of the Pyramid", evidencing that the process of institutionalization for the defense of journalism as a profession, specialized graduation and with specific theories coincides with that map. Paradoxically, it is demonstrated that the book's reception process is accompanied by a denial of peculiar Marxist basis underlying it, which motivates the detailed study of the categories used by Genro Filho

In 1963, Manoel Bergström Lourenço Filho (1897-1970) published his work entitled Organization and School Administration, which defined him as one of the pioneer authors in the systematization of the theory of school administration in Brazil. Thus this article aims to analyze the contribution of Lourenço Filho to the development and dissemination of precepts on this subject, by identifying the principles proposed by the author to make the actions of the organizers and administrators of school services more efficient.

The father-son relationship with Down syndrome in O filho eterno and Mallko y papá
abstract Literature, as noted by the father character in the novel, O filho eterno by Cristóvão Tezza, did not bring to the literary scene protagonists with Down syndrome. In light of this, the present article discusses two contemporary literary works: O filho eterno, by the Brazilian author Cristóvão Tezza (2007) and Mallko y papá, by the Argentine author Gusti Rosemffet (2016). Both works portray the daily lives of parents who have children with Down syndrome. The article underscores how the relationship between fathers and sons with Down syndrome emblematizes the social process of accepting difference. The theoretical references will be Bakhtin (1979; 2003), who will be used to reflect on the time and space of enunciation; Perrone-Moisés (2016), whose work will be employed to understand the implications of the auto-fictional genre; and Gilbert (2017), whose text will assist us in thinking about the representation of Down syndrome in cultural productions.</p

Within this group, the new species is most similar to M. agaricicola Kensley, 1984, from Belize, in the general shape of the body and in having the posterior margin of pleonite 5 broadly trilobate. However, the new species can be differentiated from M. agaricicola by the following characters (characters of M. agaricicola in parentheses): male antenna 1 with callynophore (vs lacking callynophore), female antenna 2 reaching pereonite 4 (vs peronite 2); endopod of uropod with a medial U-shaped excavation ending in an acute process on outer margin (vs lacking excavation); pleotelson distally convex (vs triangular). Additionally, Müller (1991) pointed out that M. agaricicola has few denticles on the posterior margins of female pereonites 4–7 and pleonites 1–5, which were missed on the original description. These denticles are absent in M. helenae sp. nov.

Metacirolana helenae sp. nov. can also be easily differentiated from M. riobaldoi, also known from Brazilian waters, in lacking denticles on the posterodorsal margin of the pereion and pleon segments. A comparison of morphological characters among the Metacirolana serrata group recorded from the Atlantic Ocean is given in Table 2.
Published as part of Paiva, Ricardo J. D. Sinhá e o filho padre
ABSTRACT
Mother and Son; a Brasilian Tale. v. 8, n. 1, p. 83-86, jan./jun. 1980
Article published in O Estado de São Paulo May 29 th, 1965. The effect that some books may cause in terms of acception, exceeds sometimes their own limits. This D. Sinhá e o filho padre by Gilberto Freyre is a fiction work. In this book the main element of dispersion is in the figure of the Author firmly wrapped up in a field which is strange to the fiction. The story reports the figure of a seminarist, and his relation with an exfellow of school, showing the problem of homosexualism, the distortions which were brought due to a badly oriented education, a catholic formation a little caricatural one, in an atmosphere supposed to be opportune to the aggravation of such problems.

Gift Young Engineers: An Extra-Curricular Initiative for Updating Computer and Electrical Engineering Courses
The curricula of engineering courses are well defined by the central government for all Brazilian universities. Indeed, there are some mandatory determinations that must be fulfilled prior to the accreditation of any engineering course in Brazil. Modifications must be submitted for evaluation beforehand, resulting in a process that sometimes takes years to be approved. That is a secure way to guarantee that the fundamentals of each engineering program will be part of the students’ carrier all over the country, and at the same time a problem when you need to introduce new technological subjects. That poses a problem when you have new demands for technological curricular components that could express the actual state of the art of modern subjects. Trying to solve these issues some professors from the Federal University of Amazonas developed a flexible extra-curricular program for electrical and computer engineering courses, named Gift Young Engineers. This paper describes the philosophy of these extra-curricular programs. Some examples of successful particular partnerships are also discussed. Indeed the proposed training programs for Digital TV Systems (hardware and software) will be presented and analyzed in details. The obtained results will also be discussed in order to contribute to similar experiences worldwide
