Get PDFThe thesis is a critical edition and an analysis of four unpublished correspondences, from Literature to Art, between the writer and art reviewer Giuseppe Raimondi and other interlocutors: Emilio Cecchi, Leonardo Castellani, Alberto Sughi and Nino Pedretti. The correspondences contain purely intellectual implications, but also connections to the origins and the social identity of belonging to the same land. The analysis of these intellectual speeches and therefore the comparison with four extremely dissimilar personalities, have led to the highlight of multiple interesting faces of Giuseppe Raimondi as an Artist and as a Man. The retracing of Raimondi’s literary activity, the reconstruction of his relationships and the recalling of his lively personality contained in the letters definitively confirm his central role in the Italian cultural landscape of the twentieth century

The aim is to explore whether Guido Crepax Valentina character was a "living doll" filling male fantasies of her creator or she was a woman empowered by her author struggling for many of the values of the women's culture that feminists today are trying to introduce into the mainstream. It also addresses research questions that focus on comic books and gender and empowerment at the decade of sexual liberation.Through Valentina case study the present paper is going to study an approach on the concept of woman in comics, and touch the border of female empowerment issue in contemporary world taking in consideration that her revolutionary strong and independent figure was born in a society where women have been frequently viewed as passive and represented as inferior to men and where questions of sexuality were considered taboo. No full textThe issue of knowledge sharing has permeated the field of distributed AI and in particular, its successor, multiagent systems. Through the years, many research and engineering efforts have tackled the problem of encoding and sharing knowledge without the need for a single, centralized knowledge base. However, the emergence of modern computing paradigms such as distributed, open systems have highlighted the importance of sharing distributed and heterogeneous knowledge at a larger scale—possibly at the scale of the Internet. The very characteristics that define the Semantic Web—that is, dynamic, distributed, incomplete, and uncertain knowledge—suggest the need for autonomy in distributed software systems. Semantic Web research promises more than mere management of ontologies and data through the definition of machine-understandable languages. The openness and decentralization introduced by multiagent systems and service-oriented architectures give rise to new knowledge management models, for which we can’t make a priori assumptions about the type of interaction an agent or a service may be engaged in, and likewise about the message protocols and vocabulary used. We therefore discuss the problem of knowledge management for open multi-agent systems, and highlight a number of challenges relating to the exchange and evolution of knowledge in open environments, which pertinent to both the Semantic Web and Multi Agent System communities alike
Association of candidate genes with FeNO in asthma: preliminary results from the Gene Environment Interactions in Respiratory Diseases (GEIRD) study
No full textThe present candidate gene analysis is aimed at identifying the genetic polymorphisms associated with FeNO in adult subjects with asthma. We evaluated 227 subjects with asthma (age: 20-66 years; female: 49.3%; current smoking: 23.3%; past smoking: 31.7%; atopy: 76.6%), who had been identified from the general population in Verona (Italy) in the clinical stage (2008-2010) of a multi-centre (multi)case-control study (GEIRD). All subjects in our sample had not used controller drugs in the previous 3 months. A panel of 210 tag-SNPs, which are representative of 50 candidate genes with a previous indication of a possible association with asthma/COPD/rhinitis, was genotyped by a custom GoldenGate Genotyping Assay. The association with log-transformed FeNO (at an expiratory flow rate of 50 mL/s) was tested separately for each SNP (classified according to the additive, dominant or recessive genetic model) by a linear regression model with robust standard errors, adjusting for sex and smoking habits. The Simes multiple-test procedure was used for controlling the false discovery rate (FDR). SNP rs1610696 in Human Leukocyte Antigen-G (HLA-G) and SNP rs174579 in Fatty Acid Desaturase 2 (FADS2) gene regions were significantly associated with FeNO. These preliminary results suggest that HLA-G and FADS2, or genes in linkage disequilibrium, play a role in inflammation among adult asthmatics
The Association Between Intolerance of Uncertainty, Emotion Dysregulation, and Anxiety in Italian Non-Clinical Pre-Adolescents and Adolescents
Get PDFBackground: Anxiety symptoms are rather frequent in adolescence and associated with long-term negative consequences. Therefore, expanding knowledge on the factors that may underlie anxiety symptomatology is extremely relevant; to this end, intolerance of uncertainty and emotion dysregulation are of key interest. This study aimed to deepen the relation between intolerance of uncertainty and emotion regulation difficulties and to explore the role of these constructs in explaining anxiety levels in adolescence.
Methods: Three hundred and fifty Italian non-clinical pre-adolescents and adolescents (age range: 11-17, 53.4% boys) entered the study between November 2021 and March 2022. We administered an online survey containing the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale, Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale-Revised, Self-Administered Psychiatric Scales for Children and Adolescents-Anxiety scale, and Depression Anxiety Stress Scales-21. Pearson’s correlations were calculated to examine the relation between intolerance of uncertainty, emotion dysregulation dimensions, and different anxiety symptoms. A hierarchical linear regression was performed to test the predictive role of intolerance of uncertainty and specific emotion regulation strategies on generalized anxiety symptoms.
Results: All emotion dysregulation dimensions, except Awareness, were significantly correlated with intolerance of uncertainty and the different anxiety manifestations. Intolerance of uncertainty was associated with all anxiety symptoms, but to a greater extent with generalized and school-related anxiety. Finally, both intolerance of uncertainty and specific emotion dysregulation dimensions (i.e., Goals and Strategies) predicted generalized anxiety symptoms; however, the emotion dysregulation block led to a higher increase in explained variance than intolerance of uncertainty did.
Conclusion: Intolerance of uncertainty, emotion dysregulation, and anxiety symptoms emerged to be strictly associated. Moreover, the contribution of both intolerance of uncertainty and specific emotion regulation difficulties to the putative development of generalized anxiety in adolescence has been tentatively supported. Particularly, emotion dysregulation seems to play a more relevant role in generalized anxiety compared to intolerance of uncertainty
