El divorcio como nudo biográfico. Una revisión de la literatura reciente desde la perspectiva de la vulnerabilidad post-divorcio
No full textIn this article it is proposed a new theoretical approach for the study of post-divorce that finds its conceptual basis in the context of vulnerability and its empirical basis on a review of the recent literature on the impact of divorce on its economic, health and general welfare aspects. The process of divorce is understood as a biographic knot that marks the entrance to a risky context in which the actors are forced to rethink their life project. Within the post-divorce vulnerability approach there are a certain number of factors that affects theprocess of adjusting to that situation. On one hand, there are some activating factors, which are read as signs of vulnerability and, on the other, the mediating factors that enhance or diminish the responsiveness of individuals who have experienced the breakup. The understanding of post-divorce as a process that generates vulnerability should be con-sidered as a new development and a necessary input to advance on its scientific knowledge from the socio-demographic point of view

No full textLe Departament de Geografia de l'Universiat Autònoma de Barcelona, en collaboration avec l'Institut de la Femme, a organisé le seminaire «Agriculture, Genre et Espace». Le seminaire a réuni un groupe de spécialistes intéressés par la problématique de la structure du genre dans la société. La participation des proffesseurs M. Berlan, Janet Momsen, Janice Monk, spécialistes et pionnitres dans ces etudes, avec les membres du Département T. Tulla, M. Solsona, M.D. Garcia Ramon et G. Canoves, a permis de constater et analyser des problématiques semblables autour de l'insuffisance des statistiques officielles, la pluri-activité en rapport avec le travail des femmes et le besoin d'une plus grande qualification de la femme dans l'agriculture. Le seminaire est une première étape ayant l'objectif de diffuser la thématique du genre dans les analyses géographiques.The Departament de Geografia of the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, in collaboration with the Institute for Women (Instituto de la Mujer), organized a conference on «Agriculture, Gender and Space» on the 10th and 11th of December 1987. The conference brought together investigators from Geography and from other branches of the Social Sciences who are interested in the problem of gender structure in society. The participants included M. Berlan, J. Monk and J. Momsen, specialists and pioneers in such subjects, together with several members of the Department, namely G. Canoves, M.D. Garcia-Ramon, M. Solsona and A.F. Tulla. Certain problems, common to the different investigators, were identified and analysed, such as the insufficiency of official statistics, the multiactivity of female labour, and the necessity for an improvement in the qualifications of women employed in agriculture. The Conference is a step towards the objective of diffusing and integrating the gender approach in geographical analysis.El Departament de Geografia de la Universitat Autbnoma de Barcelona, en colaboración con el Instituto de la Mujer, celebró los días 10-11 de diciembre de 1987 el seminario «Agricultura Género y Espacio». El seminario reunió a un grupo de estudiosos de diferentes campos de las ciencias sociales, interesados por la problemàtica de la estructura del género en la sociedad. Howaccurately do Solsona and European Association of Urology risk groups predict forrisk of lymph node metastases in patients with squamous cell carcinoma of thepenis?
No full textOBJECTIVES: To compare the prognostic accuracy of the Solsona and European
Association of Urology (EAU) risk groups in the identification of lymph node
involvement in a cohort of patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the penis.
METHODS: The clinical and pathologic data of 175 patients who had undergone
surgery for squamous cell carcinoma of the penis from 1980 to 2002 at 11 urologic
centers of northeastern Italy were retrospectively collected.
RESULTS: According to the EAU risk group, 25 patients were categorized as at low
(15.1%), 23 (13.9%) as intermediate, and 118 (71.1%) as high risk of lymph node
metastasis. Similarly, using the criteria of the Solsona risk group
stratification, 25 (15.1%), 55 (33.1%), and 86 patients (51.8%) were categorized
as at low, intermediate, and high risk. At the median follow-up of 26 months,
lymph node involvement was observed in 71 (40.6%) of 175 patients. Receiver
operating characteristic curve analysis showed that both the EAU risk group (area
under the curve = 0.632) and Solsona risk group (area under the curve = 0.697)
had a low accuracy for predicting lymph node involvement. Both risk groups were
independent predictors of lymph node involvement, as well as the clinical stage
of lymph node involvement and the presence of vascular and/or lymphatic
embolization.
CONCLUSIONS: The Solsona and EAU risk groups were both independent predictors of
lymph node involvement, although the receiver operating characteristic curve
analysis showed that both risk groups had low predictive accuracy
