Improving scenario discovery by bagging random boxes
AbstractScenario discovery is a model-based approach to scenario development under deep uncertainty. Scenario discovery relies on the use of statistical machine learning algorithms. The most frequently used algorithm is the Patient Rule Induction Method (PRIM). This algorithm identifies regions in an uncertain model input space that are highly predictive of model outcomes that are of interest. To identify these regions, PRIM uses a hill-climbing optimization procedure. This suggests that PRIM can suffer from the usual defects of hill climbing optimization algorithms, including local optima, plateaus, and ridges and valleys. In case of PRIM, these problems are even more pronounced when dealing with heterogeneously typed data. Drawing inspiration from machine learning research on random forests, we present an improved version of PRIM. This improved version is based on the idea of performing multiple PRIM analyses based on randomly selected features and combining these results using a bagging technique. The efficacy of the approach is demonstrated using three cases. Each of the cases has been published before and used PRIM. We compare the results found using PRIM with the results found using the improved version of PRIM. We find that the improved version is more robust to new data, can better cope with heterogeneously typed data, and is less prone to overfitting
Carbono prim?rio: Quem ? voc?, afinal?
O livro did?tico ? o principal material did?tico usado no processo de escolariza??o. Entretanto,
A an?lise ? de extrema import?ncia, pois permite a
Wdr68 is required for craniofacial development between the 17 somites and prim-5 stages.
A) Ventral view of 5dpf alcian blue stained cartilages in wild type zebrafish. M: Meckel’s PQ: Palatoquadrate. B) Mild mutant phenotype resulting from rearing of embryos at 24°C, characterized by joint fusions (arrowhead) between M and PQ. C) Severe mutant phenotype resulting from rearing of embryos at 32°C, characterized by the loss of M and PQ. D) Immunohistochemistry readily detects maternal Wdr68 protein up to the 17 somites stage in wdr68hi3812/hi3812 mutants raised at the permissive 24°C temperature (blue line). Maternal Wdr68 is lost by the 17 somites stage in wdr68hi3812/hi3812 mutants raised at the non-permissive 32°C temperature (red line). E) wdr68-MO injected non-transgenic (Non-Tg) animals display jaw defects regardless of heat shock. wdr68-MO injected Tg(hsp70l:GFP-Wdr68)csu9 animals that are heat shocked by the prim-5 stage show rescue from jaw defects. Error bars indicate standard deviation. Additional abbreviations: Shield (Sh), 15 somites (15s), 17 somites (17s), 20 somites (20s), 25 somites (25s), prim-5 (p5), prim-25 (p25), no heat shock (-HS).</p
THE GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF M. CEBOTARI`S REPERTOIRE AND PERFORMING STYLE
The article contains information about the repertoire of M. Cebotari, a brilliant representative of the Moldovan and German vocal schools in the first half of the 20th century. The author analyzes her performance style and the total combination of methods and technique. In her stage career of 18 years, she performed with equal success coloratura, lyric, dramatic soprano as well as mezzo-soprano parts. A distinctive feature of the diva`s art was a unique fusion of a wide linguistic and stylistic range: which includes the music from the 18th – 20th centures of Italian, German, French and Russian composers. M. Cebotari was also one of the first „universal” singers in the world, combining on the stage a commitment in achieving perfection of vocal technique together with exceptional acting and her spectacular appearance
Ebola virus (EBOV) replication kinetics in different M. condylurus cells.
Viral genome copy numbers/ml of infected cell cultures from M. condylurus (MoTra Prim, MoSp Prim, MoHe Prim and MoKi) were determined by qRT-PCR. Different levels of EBOV replication: low virus replication in MoTra Prim (orange) and MoSp Prim cells (green), moderate virus replication in MoHe Prim cells (red), high virus replication in MoKi cells (blue).</p
