    At Capo Mannu, in the northern part of the Sinis Peninsula (western Sardinia), a stratigraphic succession think more than 80 m, overlying with a possible erosion unconformity the Middle Miocene-Messinian sequence, attests a regressive phase evolving from marine-littoral to continental dunar deposits, which are intercalated by locally fossiliferous palaeosoils. Fossil vertebrates have been retrieved from a small cliff cropping out next to the sea shore at Mandriola and from the main Capo Mannu cliff. The following mammals have been collected in this locality (Capo Mannu D1): Erinaceidae indet., Talpidae indet., Parasorex sp., Soricidae indet., Rhinolophus sp., Vespertilionidae indet., Tyrrhenoglis aff.     Partendo da un esame delle testimonianze contemporanee su Teodolinda e analizzando i temi e le indicazioni che emergono dalle fonti del regno longobardo che parlano di lei – in particolare Paolo Diacono – si ricavano alcuni elementi culturali che vanno al di là del caso singolo ed eccezionale ed aiutano a comprendere qualcosa del ruolo affidato alle regine e più in generale della considerazione verso la donna nelle leggi e nella società del regno.Starting from an examination of the contemporary testimonies on Teodolinda and analyzing the themes and indications that emerge from the sources of the Lombard kingdom that speak of her - in particular Paolo Diacono - we derive some cultural elements that go beyond the single and exceptional case and help to understand something of the role entrusted to the queens and more generally of the consideration towards the woman in the laws and in the society of the kingdom

    Nowadays social networks can be considered as psycho-technological environments (De Kerckove, 1999) [1] with a high identity-making value. Pedagogy cannot ignore these new places, with the aim of making formal training increasingly more ‘connected’ to informal training through Social networks, as Facebook, Twitter, Flickr. This paper aims to present an action-research that is based on new and innovative ways to incorporate technology and social media into teaching methodology (Joosten, 2012) [2], as forms of distance and online education programs. While until now most popular researches try to study the social network influence on young people and on their academic performances (Helou & Rahim, 2012) [3], to analyse the content of user profiles, and try to diversify users and nonusers, our action-research explores the pedagogical relevances of Facebook in interactive laboratorial experiences, carried out with graduating students in the academic year 2012/2013 at the University of Naples "Federico II". We tried to implement frontal lessons with social networks technologies creating a closed group on Facebook and adopting a questionnaire (created ad hoc and tested with a pilot study) to evaluate students’ beliefs on educational scopes of Facebook and its usefulness for teaching learning. Through the exploratory experience of the Facebook groups, students have also realized that externalization/construction of meaning and knowledge is not an individual but a social community act. The appearance, therefore, more interesting is the ability for students to turn knowledge from tacit to explicit. Using metaphors, analogies, and especially through reflections on experiences in common, students are able to explain and to share knowledge, which is difficult to express through purely frontal teaching methods. Teachers, as “digital immigrants”, do not always seem to grasp the potentiality of social networks, which are the preferential medium of exchange and self-representation of their students, considered as “native digitals” (Prensky, 2001) [4]. Native digitals require a rethinking of the traditional didactic structure, employing e-learning usability. The surprising results of our research demonstrate that according to students, Facebook should be useful for educational practices, first as a platform and as an open virtual space for instructional materials and sharing narratives, second as a virtual community of research, where it’s possible to coconstruct knowledge and reflexion upon contents and upon themselves (Strollo, 2012) [5]

    Impact of COVID-19 on digital transformation: an empirical analysis of manufacturing companies

    Purpose of the paper: This study explores whether and how the restrictions resulting from COVID-19 crisis have affected digital transformation (DT) measured by the adoption of data-driven decision-making (DDD) and structured management (SM) practices. Methodology: On the basis of an original survey of 102 manufacturing firms located in Lombardy, we explore the DDD and SM practices before and during the lockdown, which began on 8 March 2020. The factors explaining heterogeneous responses to the crisis, namely, institutional logic, firm size, technological sectors, and family business, are also considered. Findings: We find that during the lockdown, firms suffered a setback in the use of DDD and SM. However, there is a significant heterogeneity in the response across firms. The factors considered in our study poorly explain this heterogeneity in DDD. Meanwhile, all factors, except institutional logic, effectively explain the differences in SM. Research limits: This study provides a preliminary and descriptive analysis. Further analysis is needed to better identify causality and co-factors. Practical implications: DT could be particularly sensitive to crisis, and crisis response varies across different dimensions of DT (i.e. DDD and SM) and types of firms. This implies that a variety of firms may benefit from DT but that DT requires specific managerial attention. Originality of the study: This study employs an original dataset that sheds new light on how the pandemic has affected DT. It focuses on one of the largest European manufacturing regions which was severely hit by the first wave of the pandemic
