Resistivity determination of railway track’s subgrade / Anas Ibrahim ... [et al.]
The conventional geotechnical investigation method using borehole drilling and sampling was usually performed for subsurface exploration. However, it is -time-consuming, invasive and requires the closing of railway lanes that disrupts the train service. To avoid this problem, a geophysical method is an alternative that can be proposed to assess the conditions of the soil subgrade under the railway track. Electrical resistivity is one of the geophysical methods that study the nature of the electricity flow in the soil by injecting the electric current into the soil and measuring the generated potential difference. The field investigation was conducted at two different locations using electrical resistivity methods to identify the properties of the soil. Two railway track site locations selected were Pinang Tunggal, Pulau Pinang (KM 23), and Alor Setar, Kedah (250 m from the station in the north direction). ABEM Terrameter LS was used in field work that applied two configurations of an array, the Wenner and Schlumberger arrays, to infer the subsurface soil layer. The results concluded that the apparent resistivity data need to be inverted into an actual resistivity data set using Resistivity 2D Inversion (RES2DINV) software. The analysis found that the soil properties are both classified as soft soil with electrical resistivity values ranging from 0 - 100 Ω-m
Power monitoring in integrated circuits

Power monitoring of integrated circuits (ICs) is also essential, as today ICs exist in most electrical and electronic systems, in a vast range of applications. Many ICs, including power ICs, have functional blocks across the chip that are used for different purposes. Measuring circuit block currents in both analog and digital ICs is important in a wide range of applications, including power management as well as IC testing and fault detection and analysis. For example, the presence of different kinds of faults in IC circuit blocks during IC fabrication causes the currents flowing through these circuit blocks to change from the expected values. There has been general interest in monitoring currents through different circuit blocks in an attempt to identify the location and type of the faults. Previous works on non intrusive load monitoring as well as on power-line communications (PLCs) provide motivation for the work presented here. The techniques are extended and used to develop a new method for power monitoring in ICs. Most solutions to the challenge of measuring currents in different circuit blocks of the IC involve adding circuitry that is both costly and power consuming. In this work, a new method is proposed to enable individual measurement of current consumed in each circuit block within an IC while adding negligible area and power overhead. This method works by encoding the individual current signatures in the main supply current of the IC, which can then be sensed and sampled off-chip, and then disaggregated through signal processing. A demonstration of this power monitoring scheme is given on a modular discrete platform that is implemented based on the UC3842 current-mode controller IC, which can also be used for educational purposes.by Anas Ibrahim Al Bastami.S.M

A study on the distribution of throughfall in relation to canopy cover was carried out in a Taman Tunku urban forest in Seberang Perai, Peninsular Malaysia. A plot of 12 m x 12 m was established to measure the distribution of gross rainfall, Pg and throughfall, Tf and to identify the correlation between throughfall and canopy cover in urban forest. Roving methods were used in this study to measure the spatial distribution of throughfall. Nine simple rainfall collectors with diameter of 22 cm were located at sub-grid within the plot and moved to other sub-grid after each rainfall event. One identical type of collector was located at open space within the study area to collect gross rainfall. This study was conducted during the month of March and April 2015 with 31 rainfall events. Hemispherical photography (HP) method using fisheye lens was utilized to capture canopy cover image and analysed using Gap Light Analyzer (GLA) software. The relationship between throughfall and gross rainfall for man-made urban forest shows a strong correlation with r2 values of 0.893. The range of throughfall distribution for this study is 17.4% to 33.3% of gross rainfall while the range of the canopy cover for this study is 53% to 70%. Pearson correlation coefficient was used to analyse the relationship between canopy covers and variation of throughfall. At different intensity of rainfall, the throughfall rate was significantly decreased with the increasing of percentage of canopy cover over the plot (n = - 0.717, p = 0.014 under moderate storm). Hence, the canopy cover was found to be influential in predicting throughfall distribution in urban forest

Muhammed B. Ebi'-lfeth El-Ba'li'nin'şerhu Elfiyyeti İbn-i Malik Babu't-Tasrif' adlı eserinin tahkik ve tahlili
Bu tez, allame ve fakih vasfının yanı sıra bir nahiv ve dil bilgini olan İmam Şemseddin Muhammed bin Ebi-l Feth el-Ba’lî el-Hanbelî‘nin “Şerh-u Elfiyeti İbni Malik” isimli kitabının sarf bölümünün tahkik ve incelemesinden ibarettir. Kitap “Elfiyetü İbni Malik”in en önemli şerhlerinden birisidir. Zira el-Ba’lî, İbni Malik’in seçkin talebelerinden biridir ve bu şerh el yazması olarak kütüphane raflarında kalmıştır.Tez iki bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde metin tahkik edilmiş, ikinci bölümde ise inceleme ve analiz yapılmıştır.Birinci bölümde eserin el yazması yazıya döküldükten sonra gerekli harekeleme ve numaralandırmalar yapılmıştır. Bu hususta modern imla kurallarına uyulmuş ve gerek el-Ba’lî’nin belirttiği nakiller gerekse metinde yer alan deliller kaynaklarına atfedilmiştir. Kur’an ayetlerinin sure ve ayet numaralarını belirtilmiş, Hadis-i şerifler de tahriç edilmiştir. Şiirlerin sahipleri tespit edilmiş ve meşhur olmayan bilginlerin biyografisine değinilmiştir.İkinci bölümün ilk faslında müellif ve şarihin hayatı ele alınmıştır. Biyografi kitaplarından faydalanılarak müellifin hayatı hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. İkinci fasılda ise; eserin özellikleri, müellifine olan nispeti, önemi ve tahkikinde uygulanan yöntem gibi konulara yer verilmiştir. Üçüncü fasılda el-Ba’lî’nin şerh yöntemi, üslubu, özellikleri ve kaynakları ele alındıktan sonra bu şerh ile İbni Nazım’ın şerhi arasında karşılaştırma yapılmıştır. Buna bağlı olarak el-Ba’lî’nin kendisinden önce gelenlerden ne derece etkilendiği, onlara neler kattığı ve hangi hususlarda onlardan ayrıştığın ve kendisinden sonra gelenler üzerindeki etkisi irdelenmeye çalışılmıştır.This study aims to manuscript verification the conjugation section from the book (Alfiat Ibn Malik) by Imam Shams al-Din, Muhammad ibn Abi al-Fath al-Baali al-Hanbali, the scholar al-Faqih al-Mufti and the grammatical-linguistic modernist, and this book is one of the most crucial commentaries on Ibn Malik’s millennium because al-Baali is one of Ibn Malik’s special students, when It was still manuscript .The study consists of two parts: the first one is a manuscript verification and the second one is an analytical.The first part, it included manuscript, interviewed it, set the necessary diacritics, and the punctuation, in accordance with modern orthography, and documented the quotes made by Al-Baali, and documented the evidence mentioned in the text. The Quranic verses were attributed, the hadiths of the Prophet were brought out, the poetic verses were attributed to those who said them, and the biographies of unpopular Scholar were investigated.The second part, was inclined studying about the life of the author and commentator in the first chapter. By using scholars’ books about investigation of biographies of flags as a reference, then in the second chapter I studied the manuscript terms of its description and documentation of its attribution to its author and the statement of its importance and value and the methodology used in its manuscripts verfication. Third chapter it was analyzed the Anointion method of Al-Baali describing its style, the most important feature of it, and the sources that He relied on it in saying it, the scholars who were quoted from it, and the most important issues that al-Baali tracked down on Ibn Malik, and a comparison was made between his anointion and that of Ibn al-Nazim, and through it the influence of al-Baali was explained by those who preceded him, and what al-Baali added and was distinguished by it, and its influence on the scholars and commentators who came after hi
