The object of this is the vulgarization of Andrea da Grosseto (1268) of the Moral treaties of Albertano da Brescia, of which a critical edition essay is offered.
The first part of the thesis, dedicated to the reception of the work of Albertano, inserts the translation of Andrea into the context of the Italian circulation of the Treaties. The vulgarisations made in the Peninsula between the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries are described, updating the research on the manuscript tradition of the texts and on the different areas of origin and diffusion.
We focus in particular on the manuscripts that pass on the vulgarization of Andrea da Grosseto: Florence, Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale, Conv. Soppr. F.4.776 (end of the 13th century), the oldest complete witness; Florence, Laurentian Library, Gad. Rel. 143 (end of XIII or beginning of 14th century) And the less known Genève, Bibliothèque de Genève, Comites Latentes 112 (14th century, second half). Ample space is dedicated to the description of the manuscripts and their linguistic analysis. The introductory study concludes with a chapter that reconstructs the textual relationship between the witnesses, to proceed with the edition of the vulgarization.
The second section of the thesis is occupied by the proposal for a critical edition of the Treaties. The commentary notes following the text offer a comparison between Andrea's translation and the Latin text, with frequent references to contemporary Italian vulgarisations
The author analyzes the labour consequences of the succession between entrepreneurs, starting from a recognition of the various types of outsourcing with the related needs and main critical issues.
The survey focuses primarily on the transfer of businesses, examining European legislation and case-law and then moving on to internal legislation, trade union procedures and a specific focus on the transfer of companies in crisis.
The author then dwells on the contract, taking into account in particular the indications of authenticity, the criteria of distinction from the illicit administration of labour and the protection of workers in the event of turnover between companies.
Finally, the research deepens the "social clauses", both first and second generation, assessing their compatibility with European law and with the constitution and reflecting on possible remedies in case of their violation
A Low Power IoT Sensor Node Architecture for Waste Management Within Smart Cities Context
This paper focuses on the realization of an Internet of Things (IoT) architecture to optimize waste management in the context of Smart Cities. In particular, a novel typology of sensor node based on the use of low cost and low power components is described. This node is provided with a single-chip microcontroller, a sensor able to measure the filling level of trash bins using ultrasounds and a data transmission module based on the LoRa LPWAN (Low Power Wide Area Network) technology. Together with the node, a minimal network architecture was designed, based on a LoRa gateway, with the purpose of testing the IoT node performances. Especially, the paper analyzes in detail the node architecture, focusing on the energy saving technologies and policies, with the purpose of extending the batteries lifetime by reducing power consumption, through hardware and software optimization. Tests on sensor and radio module effectiveness are also presented
Ultra Low Carbon Vehicles: New Parameters for Automotive Design
As the influence of vehicle emissions on our environment has become better understood, the UK government has recently placed urgent emphasis on the implementation of low carbon
technologies in the automotive industry through: the UK Low Carbon Industrial Strategy. The overall objective is to offer big incentives to consumers and support for the development of infrastructure and engineering solutions. This scheme however does not consider how the development of functional and experiential user value might drive consumer demand, contributing to the adoption of low carbon vehicles (LCVs) in the mass market.
With the emergence of the North East of England as the UK’s first specialised region for the development of ultra-low carbon vehicles (ULCVs), ONE North East, as a development agency for the region's economic and business development, and Northumbria University Ideas-lab have supported a project to facilitate innovation through the collaboration of technology, research and development (R&D) and business. The High Value Low Carbon (HVLC) project aims to envisage
new user value made possible by the integration of low carbon vehicle platforms with new process and network technologies. The HVLC consortium represents vehicle manufacturers and their suppliers as well as technology based companies and through an ongoing process of design concept generation the project offers a hub for innovation led enterprise.
Whilst new technological developments in areas such as power generation, nano materials, hydrogen fuel cells, printed electronics and networked communications will all impact on future automotive design, the mass adoption of low carbon technologies represents a paradigm shift for the motorist. This paper aims to describe how the mapping of new parameters will lead to new transport scenarios that will create the space for new collaborative research on user experiences supported by innovative technologies and related services

Matteo Maria Boiardo – contemporary of Sir Thomas Malory and forerunner of Shakespeare, Spenser, Milton, Cervantes, Tolkien, and C.S. Lewis – is best known as the author of the Orlando Innamorato [Orlando in Love], a poem in ottava rima organically merging Carolingian epic and Arthurian romance. He was also a lyric and pastoral poet, playwright, and translator of classical texts into the Italian vernacular. Matteo was active in Italy during the years of 1463 throughout 1494, the year of his death
Uno sguardo all'Est.
The contribution of the author starts by examining fundamental labour rights recognised by the Constitutions of the Countries of the Community of Independent States. Then the author focuses upon Russian Labour Law, going through the history of the main branches of the discipline: the individual relationship, industrial relations, the labour market. The article finds a surprising continuity in the essential lines of Russian Labour Law, in spite of the completely different socio-economic systems that were experimented in Russia during the twentieth century. The author concludes that Russian Labour Law clearly belongs to the European matrix of the discipline
Il Canzoniere per Ginevra Luti di Bernardo Ilicino. Edizione critica e commento.
My thesis is focused on the philological, historical and cultural significance of Bernardo Ilicino’s fifteenth-century Canzoniere, dedicated to Ginevra Luti, of which I provide a critical and annotated edition.
Bernardo Ilicino, a doctor by profession, as well a diplomat, poet, narrator, commentator, was a multifaceted personality in the Italian Renaissance. He came into contact with several culture circles: Siena, where he followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming lecturer of medicine in the Studio and similarly taking an interest in philology, philosophy and literature, and where his lyrical works earned a reputation for contributing to develop the local production of vernacular poetry; Rome, where he performed diplomatic tasks; Ferrara, where he was called by Duke Borso d'Este to teach medicine in the academic year 1468-69. In the same city he worked on the exposition of Francesco Petrarca’s Trionfi, dedicated to Borso d’Este.
In the first part of my thesis I examine the fortuna of Bernardo Ilicino’s lyrics among his contemporaries, and the relationships existing between his Canzoniere for Ginevra Luti and the main Canzonieri of the second half of the fifteenth Century. In particular, I focused on the lyrical production modelled on Petrarch’s poems, that was produced in the two geographical areas of Siena and Ferrara over the period 1460-1480. The reason for this choice is twofold: firstly, during that time Ferrara and Siena saw a noticeable increment in the production of Petrarchan Canzonieri. Secondly, while we have scanty information about Bernardo’s life and movements, it is certain his origin by Siena and that he taught in Ferrara. With an eye to the chronology of their lives and works, the poets that offer themselves for suitable comparison are: in Siena, Benedetto da Cingoli, who wrote his Canzoniere in the same years of Bernardo and was his friend and estimator, and Nicolò Angeli; in Ferrara, Ludovico Sandeo and Filippo Nuvoloni, who belonged to the entourage of Alberto d’Este; Matteo Maria Boiardo; and Agostino Staccoli. The comparative study has been primarily conducted on unpublished material preserved in Siena (Biblioteca Comunale) and in Rome (Biblioteca Vaticana).
In the second part of my thesis I provide a critical and annotated edition of Ilicino’s Canzoniere with commentary. The copy-test of my edition is that transmitted by manuscript S (Siena, Biblioteca Comunale, MS I XI 24). The apparatus includes the variants attested by manuscript R (Roma, Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, MS Chigi M.V.102). My study also includes detailed analysis – presented in the ‘‘Nota al testo’’ – of the varia lectio offered by copious emendations to Ilicino’s text, introduced in S by an early-sixteenth-century hand (S1). The analysis in the commentary is developed along the lines of three main direction: 1. Metatextual elements (sources, inter and intratextuality); 2. Textual elements (motifs, themes, images, allegorical figurations); 3. Macrotextual elements (narrative cycles, series, ligaments between different texts).
Corpo, spazio, architettura. Fenomenologia dell’esperienza spaziale Matteo Vegetti, Fabrizia Bandi (eds.), Editrice Morcelliana, Brescia 2024
The author reviews "Corpo, spazio, architettura: Fenomenologia dell’esperienza spaziale," edited by Matteo Vegetti and Fabrizia Bandi. The book examines the philosophical underpinnings of spatial experience through a phenomenological lens, engaging with both traditional and contemporary notions of how space, body, and architecture interconnect. The author highlights the text\u27s exploration of how architects and designers might integrate phenomenological insights into their work, transforming space from mere physical dimensions into lived, experienced reality. The review appreciates the book’s thematic organization, which starts with foundational theories from Merleau-Ponty and expands through discussions on virtual spaces and the future of architecture in the digital age. Through this anthology, readers gain a comprehensive view of the architectural implications of phenomenological thought, making it a critical resource for anyone involved in the conceptualization and design of space
St. George and the Dragon or the town planner as a story-teller. In conversation with Bernardo Secchi about Il racconto urbanistico / Der heilige Georg und der Drache, oder: Der Stadtplaner als Geschichtenerzähler. Ein Gespräch mit Bernardo Secchi über Il racconto urbanistico
At the end of the second edition of his Storia dell’architettura italiana, Manfredo Tafuri declares that “one book assumes a crucial relevance”1 in finding a way out of the endemic crisis of modern architecture in the 1980s: Il racconto urbanistico. The publication of this work by the Italian urban planner 2 Bernardo Secchi in 1984 constitutes a unique event in recent European architecture—an event that still has not been appropriately described or analyzed. Matteo D’Ambros and Roberto Zancan met with the author to discuss the circumstances of the book’s publication. In a world of short memory, revisiting the possible contribution of literary studies to architecture and urban planning promises to shed light on the contemporary understanding of the disciplines.
