Full text linkPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendiskripsikan citra maskulinitas dari Luis Suarez yang terdapat dalam iklan Adidas versi “There Will Be Haters”. Objek dalam penelitian ini adalah iklan Adidas versi There Will Be Haters versi Luis Suarez yang di unggah Adidas di media sosial Instagram dan Twitter @adidasfootball pada tahun 2015. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan teknik analisis semiotika model Charles Sanders Pierce. Keabsahan data diuji dengan triangulasi sumber .Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa iklan Adidas versi There Will Be Haters bukan hanya menawarkan produknya tapi mengandung makna citra maskulin dari Luis Suarez. Citra Maskulin Luis Suarez ditampilkan pada diri Luis Suarez, latar belakang gambar iklan, serta caption yang terdapat pada unggahan di media sosial Adidas.

No full textOn June 24th 2014, under the watchful gaze of millions of World-Cup viewers, Luis Suarez bit Gorgio Chiellini on the Shoulder. This was the third time that Luis Suarez had resorted to behaviour that has been described as most commonly associated with Children. The present Research aimed to investigate what Psychological explanations can tell us about the motivations behind Luis Suarez biting an opponent. This Research utilised a Psychobiographical approach that incorporated Grounded Theory Analysis of Publically available Data, to identify a number of Themes within the Data that could be applied as an explanation to Luis Suarez's behaviour. The following themes were devised from the Researchers interpretation of the Data and were further discussed with reference to extracts from the Data Analysed: 1) Genetic Disposition, 2) Difficult Childhood and 3) Poor Self-Control.bsc_Psyunpub1991_ethesesunpu

What's Eating Luis Suarez? A Psychobiography
No full textAim: The aim of this psychobiography is to examine the descriptions that the authors provide on Luis Suarez's actions and how these reflect different forms of psychological theorising. Introduction: It is important to examine football players as they are regularly captured by the media, they act as role models for many individuals and sport generally has a huge impact on society. Luis Suarez is a professional footballer, notorious for his talented football skills and his bad behaviour on-pitch, particularly his tendency to bite other players. Psychobiography is useful in that it allows for the exploration and description of the life of a particular individual. Method: Data collected on Suarez's life were drawn from fifty secondary sources and the various viewpoints were analysed using grounded theory. Results: Five themes emerged from the data as dominant to Suarez's biting behaviour. These themes were: (1) a lack of impulse-control, (2) emotions influenced his thoughts and behaviour, (3) his behaviour stemmed from his childhood, (4) it is explained by a primal or instinctive act, and (5) his behaviour occurred due to context, which is split into two sub-sections: pressures from external sources and name-calling from opposing players. Discussion: The most viable explanation of Suarez's biting behaviour is his lack of impulse-control. The most compelling evidence of this explanation is that the punishment and public embarrassment continued to show no impact on his repeated biting behaviour. However, his behaviour may also be better explained by a combination of factors discussed, most likely a lack of impulse-control and intense emotions or pressures from external sources.bsc_Psyunpub1979_ethesesunpu

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
