La prepotenza della natura provoca disorientamento e alterazione nelle abitudini percettive e l’io è da ciò indotto a un’attivazione di sé che non è accrescimento di potenza, ma decentramento e dilatazione. Questo movimento è, per Rilke, contemporaneo alleggerimento dell’io fino a fare di questo un’anonimità. No full textIl grandioso polittico di Carlo Crivelli (1430?-1494?), dipinto per la chiesa di San Francesco a Montefiore dell’Aso (AP), fu purtroppo smembrato e alcune tavole confluirono in diverse istituzioni museali nel mondo. Le sei tavole oggi conservate presso il museo della città rimangono a testimonianza di quella che fu sicuramente una delle opere più imponenti dipinte dal maestro veneziano.
Il volume scritto da Daphne De Luca, con prefazione del celebre Storico dell’arte Claudio Strinati, delinea la storia dei numerosi smembramenti della maggior parte delle opere che Crivelli aveva dipinto nelle Marche, lasciando emergere un interessante spaccato di storia d’Italia dal punto di vista della tutela e valorizzazione dei beni storico-artistici. L’autrice ripercorre le numerose offese subite dal polittico di San Francesco, dal brutale smembramento attuato dai francescani nell’Ottocento fino all’ultimo estenuante tentativo di vendita da parte del Comune delle sei tavole rimanenti, definitivamente respinto dalla Pubblica Istruzione il 13 febbraio del 1908.
Ma il libro è soprattutto un viaggio nella materia, dedicato alla scoperta delle tecniche pittoriche di Crivelli svelate dalle indagini scientifiche. I suoi polittici non sono solo dipinti di straordinaria bellezza ma anche manufatti artigianali di grandissima qualità. Crivelli era infatti un eccellente pittore dotato di grande abilità tecnica. Concepiva le sue opere come rutilanti gioielli di oreficeria nei quali l’oro e l’argento finemente cesellati e impiegati per impreziosire sontuosi broccati in velluto veneziano, sono i protagonisti assoluti

MeSH term explosion and author rank improve expert recommendations
No full textInformation overload is an often-cited phenomenon that reduces the productivity, efficiency and efficacy of scientists. One challenge for scientists is to find appropriate collaborators in their research. The literature describes various solutions to the problem of expertise location, but most current approaches do not appear to be very suitable for expert recommendations in biomedical research. In this study, we present the development and initial evaluation of a vector space model-based algorithm to calculate researcher similarity using four inputs: 1) MeSH terms of publications; 2) MeSH terms and author rank; 3) exploded MeSH terms; and 4) exploded MeSH terms and author rank. We developed and evaluated the algorithm using a data set of 17,525 authors and their 22,542 papers. On average, our algorithms correctly predicted 2.5 of the top 5/10 coauthors of individual scientists. Exploded MeSH and author rank outperformed all other algorithms in accuracy, followed closely by MeSH and author rank. Our results show that the accuracy of MeSH term-based matching can be enhanced with other metadata such as author rank
