Author, publisher and bookseller : a tripartite synergy in Nigerian book industry

    No full text
This work is about the roles of Author, Publisher and Bookseller in Book development in Nigeria. The paper started by delving into the history of Book Publishing in Nigeria after which it proceeded by defining who an author, a publisher, and a bookseller is and expatiated on the indispensable roles of these key actors in Nigerian Book Industry and in the emerging Information Society. Furthermore, the various constraints to book development were identified while the paper advised on how the Book Industry can be further promoted in Nigeria. However, the paper concluded and made recommendations on how the Book sector can help in enhancing scholarship in the country

Towards the chiral limit with dynamical blocked Wilson fermions

Barbour I, Laermann E, Lippert T, Schilling K. Towards the chiral limit with dynamical blocked Wilson fermions. Physical Review D. 1992;46(8):3618-3629.The approach to the chiral limit in full QCD is investigated with a blocked Wilson fermionic action. Finite size effects prohibit taking the chiral limit on small lattices. We find that various observables expected to be influenced by chiral and finite temperature properties of the theory reveal patterns which suggest a transition to chiral-symmetry restoration and deconfinement to be the origin of the observed phenomena

Set-up of a THz Time Domain Spectrometer at INRIM

    No full text
The European Metrology Research Program Project NEW-07 “Microwave and Terahertz metrology for homeland security” is aimed to develop metrological traceability of sources and detectors in sub-mm and THz frequency bands as a pre-requisite for the traceability of more complex THz measurement systems, such as spectrometers, body scanners and imaging systems. In this framework, a Time Domain Spectrometer working up to about 3THz has been set-up at Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica, Italy. Its characteristics are here described. First characterization measurements have been done and are here reported in terms of stability and bandwidth and signal to noise ratio achievable with different kind of emitters

UNICORE - From Project Results to Production Grids

    No full text
The UNICORE Grid-technology provides a seamless, secure and intuitive access to distributed Grid resources. In this paper we present the recent evolution from project results to production Grids. At the beginning UNICORE was developed as a prototype software in two projects funded by the German research ministry (BMBF). Over the following years, in various European-funded projects, UNICORE evolved to a full-grown and well-tested Grid middleware system, which today is used in daily production at many supercomputing centers worldwide. Beyond this production usage, the UNICORE technology serves as a solid basis in many European and International research projects, which use existing UNICORE components to implement advanced features, high level services, and support for applications from a growing range of domains. In order to foster these ongoing developments, UNICORE is available as open source under BSD licence at Source Forge, where new releases are published on a regular basis. This paper is a review of the UNICORE achievements so far and gives a glimpse on the UNICORE roadmap

Dissipative Range Scaling of Higher Order Structure Functions for Velocity and Passive Scalars

    No full text
Differently to Kolmogorov's second similarity hypothesis, we find that the 2n-th order velocity and scalar structure functions scale with n-th order moment of the energy dissipation and the scalar dissipation, respectively. The origins of this scaling are analyzed by the transport equations of the fourth order velocity and scalar increment moments and by direct numerical simulations

Also By The Same Author: AKTiveAuthor, a Citation Graph Approach to Name Disambiguation

    No full text
The desire for definitive data and the semantic web drive for inference over heterogeneous data sources requires co-reference resolution to be performed on those data. In particular, name disambiguation is required to allow accurate publication lists, citation counts and impact measures to be determined. This paper describes a graph-based approach to author disambiguation on large-scale citation networks. Using self-citation, co-authorship and document source analyses, AKTiveAuthor clusters papers, achieving precision of 0.997 and recall of 0.818 over a test group of eight surname clusters
