Interorganizational Link
The article presents information on employees who act as an interorganizational link between their company and their customers. This role is usually one held by an outside salesman and the author notes that this job done more productively and with greater satisfaction when the salesman has a greater amount of power, authority and a more equal status relationship with clients. The author suggests that a proper balance of these three components makes this individual the most effective which, in turn, increases the organization's effectiveness.Marketin
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
On the importance of using appropriate link-to-system interfaces for the study of link adaptation
Link Adaptation is an adaptive radio link technique that selects a transport mode, from a set of predefined modes of varying robustness, depending on the channel quality conditions and dynamics. It is therefore very important, when analysing the performance and operation of Link Adaptation, to properly capture such conditions and dynamics. In this context, this paper investigates the effect that different link-to-system level interfaces have on the study of Link Adaptation, in particular on its throughput performance and associated signalling cost
Editorial LINK PRAXIS Journal V.3 I.1 2025
This third issue of LINK PRAXIS Journal of Practice-Oriented Research marks a significant step in our ongoing commitment to documenting and analysing design-led and artistic research from within the Global South. It brings together a selection of authors who presented at the sixth edition of the LINK Conference, held in Valparaíso, Chile, and São Paulo, Brazil, from 3 to 7 December 2024. This edition reflects the diverse range of practice-oriented inquiries, each grounded in a commitment to design as a form of scholarly, reflective, and transformative practice.
The editorial and curatorial rationale of this issue follows the conceptual and epistemological orientation that informs both the conference and the journal. LINK PRAXIS is committed to supporting and disseminating creative research that arises from situated knowledge practices, emerging methodologies, and pluralistic worldviews, particularly those developed through and in relation to the Global South. The journal's foundational focus on practice-oriented research includes work that is both led by and embedded in artistic, design, and visual practices.
This volume features thirteen contributions, each of which exemplifies a strong engagement with practice as a mode of inquiry. These contributions encompass doctoral research, postgraduate investigations, and ongoing academic-practice collaborations. They offer evidence-based reflection on methodological experimentation, epistemic plurality, and the social, cultural, and material dimensions of creative practice.
A proposta editorial e curatorial desta edição segue a orientação conceitual e epistemológica que informa tanto o simpósio quanto o periódico.
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Performance and configuration of link adaptation algorithms with mobile speed
Link Adaptation is an adaptive radio link technique that selects a transport mode, from a set of predefined modes of varying robustness, depending on the channel quality conditions and dynamics. Previous work has shown the need to adapt the configuration of the Link Adaptation algorithm to certain operating conditions such as the system load. Since the channel quality dynamics are also influenced by the user speed, this paper investigates the impact of the mobile speed on the performance and configuration of Link Adaptation algorithm
