In recent years, with the advance of liquid crystal display technology, the LCD monitors have been gradually replacing the traditional CRT monitors. From the display of desktop computers to the general home TV screen, the LCD screens become bigger and thinner. It is not only utilized in television and computers but also advertising billboards. It also helps the expansion of digital signage market. In response to the Chi Mei group\ue2s strategy to expand LCD panel development, Chi Lin Technology, a company with 40 years of experience in traditional plastic materials processing are transferring into the electronics manufacturer. Chi Lin Technology is constantly looking for the applicable areas of LCD technology and wants to bring the growth momentum for the company. They believe that the market of the digital signage in the convenience stores is white space. In order to seize this opportunity, Chi Lin Technology starts a series of internal innovation and integrates external resources to come out with a solution of the digital signage market development. This solution integrates the four major components, including hardware, software, services, and content. In addition, it consolidates subsidiary\ue2s advertising agency, content production, and channel management capabilities. This study is to analyze our strategy, which utilizes the existing core R&D strength to develop a complete digital signage solution. We will also research the advantages of Chi Lin Technology and the business model of advertising network operating system of digital signage

The stem cell E3-ligase Lin-41 promotes liver cancer progression through inhibition of microRNA-mediated gene silencing

Lin-41 is a stem cell-specific E3 ligase and a known target of the tumour suppressor microRNA (miRNA) let-7. Lin-41 was recently reported to mediate ubiquitylation and degradation of the miRNA pathway protein Ago2. We demonstrate that Lin-41 is over-expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Lin-41 over-expression correlates with high a-fetoprotein level, high tumour grade and high tumour stage and predicts early tumour recurrence. Lin-41 is a strong predictor of poor long-term survival for patients with HCC. Lin-41 knock-down by RNA interference in HCC cell lines Huh7 and Hep3B suppressed proliferation in vitro and reduced in vivo tumour growth in NOD/SCID mice. On the other hand, over-expression of Lin-41 in the HCC cell line SK-Hep1 enhanced tumourigenicity. Over-expression and knock-down of Lin-41 led to inverse changes in the levels of Ago1 and Ago2 proteins. Over-expression of Ago1 and Ago2 reduced in vivo tumour growth. Lin-41 over-expression suppressed let-7 activity in HCC cell lines and expression of Lin-41 enhanced the expression of let-7-regulated oncogenes c-Myc, Lin-28B, HMGA2 and type 1 insulin-like growth factor receptor (IGF1R). Expression of Lin-28B and c-Myc enhanced the expression of Lin-41. Chromatin immunoprecipitation and reporter assays revealed direct association of c-Myc with the Lin-41 promoter, resulting in transcriptional transactivation. Our results indicate that Lin-41 plays an important role in the growth of HCC by regulating RISC complex proteins Ago1 and Ago2 to inhibit miRNA-mediated gene silencing and promote the expression of oncogenic proteins. Lin-41 is also a strong prognostic factor for patients with HCC. Copyright (C) 2012 Pathological Society of Great Britain and Ireland. Published by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd

This collection includes audio recordings and transcripts of interviews with Asian Americans native to or living in Houston.Chi-mei Lin was born in Xindian, Taiwan and grew up in a military family with her three brothers. She attended First Taipei Girls High School and then studied English and education at National Taiwan University. To broaden her perspective of education to western approaches to education, she came to the United States to study administration at the University of Michigan. She worked various jobs as a YMCA after-school teacher, and an employee at Disaster Relief Coalition of America WorkWell doing vocational rehab, before being recruited to Chinese Community Center (CCC) as a school principal because of her background in human services and education. Today, as CEO of CCC, she has grown the center from its original origins as a language school to an agency that provides job training services and a senior center to all ethnicities. She has two sons and enjoys watching black-and-white movies
