Sodalis's Lyrics on Tadeusz Różewicz's Poetic Juveniles

    No full text
The work analyzes a group of poems written by an eminent poet, Tadeusz Różewicz (b. 1921), and published in the monthly of Marian Sodality entitled "Under the Sign of Mary" in the years of 1938-39. The poems are important not so much due to their artistic value as to their importance for the manner of understanding and expressing religious problems in its later lyrics. In this work the author dealt, among other things, with imaging poems, their semantics, and the attitude of the subject towards the sacred sphere, pointing at the elements exposed in the poems, i.e. loneliness of the temple, man and God and the turning of the reader's attention rather towards the external, visual and artistic (painting, sculptor's and architectonic elements) aspect of the depicted reality. Juvenile poems of Różewicz announced the coming crisis of the hero's faith, confirmed in the poem Burden of 1940, as well as the later divergence between that poetry and the metaphysical sources. In these works one could perceive also some characteristics of poetic technic, characteristic of the later lyrics of the author of Niepokój (Anxiety)

Facepoeia: The Author Becoming a Photographic Subject. The Example of Tadeusz Różewicz

This paper reflects on the visual practices involving the circulation of portraits of authors in their publications, and in public sphere. The photographic portrait of the author interjects the belief that the presence of the author through and in the image familiarizes and intensifies its subject’s presence and declares the author’s identity. As a visual paratext, a portrait becomes an autobiographical space of self-invention and self-construction. I wish to illustrate these processes by focusing on Tadeusz Różewicz’s 1921–2014 complex ways of accessing visibility and manners of “fixing” his identity in the collaborative work he produced with the photographer Adam Hawałej under the title Rubbish Dump 2015.This paper reflects on the visual practices involving the circulation of portraits of authors in their publications, and in public sphere. No full text
Te article describes the life of rev. Tadeusz Szetela (1925-2008) priest of Przemyśl and Rzeszów dioceses. His older brothers, Jan Bolesław and Stanisław Kazimierz who devoted themselves to God had an unquestionable impact on life path choice by young Tadeusz. Te author presents also difcult reality during T. Szetela’s seminary years, as well as work as a priest and catechist when he had to deal with laicization and antichurch tendencies among Polish society. Moreover, Tadeusz Szetela during his life participated in many national and patriotic events, as well as ministry activities (e.g. he worked as a prison pastor). Humble and priesthood devoted, rev. Tadeusz Szetela was awarded by Church authorities, e.g. he was promoted to a Chaplain of His Holiness rank in 1998

The collection of the Princes Lubomirski Museum includes an unknown drawing portrait of Tadeusz Solski, a famous bibliophile and long-time Ossolineum employee. The searches for the author of the drawing led to interesting conclusions: the portrait was created in 1914 in Vienna and was created by an amateur artist Hans Allmayer, the father of Josefine Allmayer, a well-known Austrian silhouette artist. The article aims to describe the circumstances in which a drawing was created and to present its author

    Tadeusz Miciński on the Internet

In the paper, the author considers how Tadeusz Miciński’s figure is presented on the Internet. According to him, Miciński on the Internet is primarily seen as a ‘mustread author.’ This is hardly surprising, considering the exceptional literary legacy of Miciński. In the age of visual information, an Internet user can also see a multitude of images related to Miciński. By choosing the ‚Images’ tab on the Google search page, one can immediately access a wide range of photos, pictures, and book covers. They are mostly his portraits, photos (including the famous photo with a lynx), but also scanned book pages with his poems. One can not only read but also listen to Miciński’s works on the Internet. The prevailing audio form in which his works reach the Internet audience is through the lyrics of musical pieces. For example, on the LP recorded by Marek Grechuta and the Anawa band in 1970, there is a song titled Twoja postać [Your figure]. Józef Czechowicz and Tadeusz Miciński are named as the authors of the song’s lyrics. Grechuta combined lines written by the two poets to create original lyrics. An interpretation of this song by Grzegorz Turnau was released in his 2006 album Historia pewnej podróży [The Story of a Certain Journey]. However, Miciński’s poems are mostly used by heavy metal performers.MAREK KURKIEWICZ – dr hab., prof. Music in Tadeusz Miciński’s drama

    No full text
The article presents a wealth of musical phenomena in Tadeusz Miciński’s dramas. It attempts to characterize and systematize them on basis of such pieces as Kniaź Patiomkin, Noc rabinowa, W mrokach złotego pałacu, czyli Bazilissa Teofanu or Termopile polskie. Tadeusz Miciński predicted a significant share of the musical element in his dramas. He often precisely indicated, what kind of music should appear in them. The issue of music citations and references given by the Young Poland’s author directly or hidden, requiring identification is the main subject of discussion. Equally important seems to be the question of the function and importance of music in Miciński’s dramas as well as the problem of musical fascination and inspiration in the poet’s writing.Publikacja dofinansowana przez Wydział Filologiczny U

Tadeusz Kantor : in search of Tintagiles

    No full text
The article focuses on how childhood influenced and inspired Tadeusz Kantor's work. A clear exemple of this would be the character of Tintagiles, created by Belgian author Maurice Maeterlinck and used by Kantor twice (in 1938 and 1987). Paintings by Polish artist Witold Wojtkiewicz provided an additional source of inspiration to the creation of this protagonist
