THE ROLES OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IN THE IMPROVEMENT OF ENGLISH COURSE TEACHING QUALITY (A Qualitative Study at Lembaga Bahasa dan Pendidikan Profesional (LBPP) LIA Surakarta). Thesis. English Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty. Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta. 2009. This research investigates the human resource management of English Course and its roles to the teaching quality improvement in the form of qualitative study. The underlying reason of doing this research is regarding the phenomenon that there are not many English courses, which exist and meet the criteria of the good courses. Thus, the objective of this research is to describe the human resource management roles of an English Course and the teachers’ teaching quality toward it. The problems of the research are (1) How does the Human Resource Management (HRM) in Lembaga Bahasa dan Pendidikan Profesional (LBPP) LIA Surakarta treat its teachers and (2) How and to what extend does the HRM of LBPP LIA Surakarta make the improvement of teaching quality of teachers. The research was carried out at LBPP LIA Surakarta on March until May 2009. The sources of the data are (1) events, (2) informants, and (3) written documents. The data were collected through (1) observation, (2) in-depth interview, and (4) document analysis. In analyzing the data, the writer used interactive model analysis including reducing the data, presenting the data, and drawing conclusion. The result of the research shows that: (1) LBPP LIA treats its teachers by providing many services and facilities to its teachers in order to support, develop and improve the teaching ability of the teachers. From the treatment given by HRD, it found that: (a) Teachers assumed that the tight teacher recruitment process and work discipline applied in LBPP LIA are be able to motivate them to show their best work performance, (b) the salary, incentive and bonus received by the teachers are reasonable and be able to improve teaching quality of the teachers through high motivation of work, (c) The training programs held by LBPP LIA every year is beneficial and helpful for the development of teaching quality of the teachers, (d) The facilities provided for the teachers are sufficient and helpful for teachers’ work, (e) The insurances and pension fund gave the guarantee for full-time teachers in their work continuance, (f) the work environment in LBPP LIA is very comfortable, (g) The students of LBPP LIA stated that the teachers’ teaching method are interesting and be able to make the students to be more active in the class, (h) According to LBPP LIA students, the teachers are smart, kind, and friendly. (2) The HRM in LBPP LIA provides good services and enough facilities to its teachers. It is proved by the teachers’ perception that they are treated well and satisfied with the treatments. Based on the research findings, the theory constructed is that Human Resource Management (HRM) roles in LBPP LIA which are carried out by HRD gave improvement to teachers’ teaching quality, in the case of salary, incentive, bonus, insurance, facilities, training program, and work environment. In general, this research shows that to maintain its existence, an English course should have good management inside, in this case is good human resource management. It is because the good HRM will create good quality of employees

    Visually Enhanced Python Functions for Clinical Equality of Measurement Assessment

    No full text
    Equivalence testing requires specific procedures usually provided by specialized statistical software. The proposed package includes customized methods to assess biomedical equivalence and focuses on translating the outcomes into visual reports. The functions are coded in an object-oriented framework, contain improved plots or novel graphs to facilitate interpretation of the results, and are accompanied by console textual outputs to support users with additional explanations. Special attention has been devoted to verifying the preliminary assumptions of the statistical tests with automatic routines. The current module covers four aspects of biomedical statistics (equivalence, Bland--Altman and ROC analyses, effect size, and confidence intervals interpretation), offering these methodologies to the biomedical community as accessible stand-alone functions. The manuscript defines software's functions and innovations with examples and theoretical explanations.@inproceedings{FedCSIS202232, author={Mauro Nascimben and Lia Rimondini}, pages={241–249}, title={Visually Enhanced Python Functions for Clinical Equality of Measurement Assessment}, booktitle={Communication Papers of the 17th Conference on Computer Science and Intelligence Systems}, year={2022}, editor={Maria Ganzha and Leszek Maciaszek and Marcin Paprzycki and Dominik Ślęzak}, publisher={PTI}, doi={10.15439/2022F32}, url={http://dx.doi.org/10.15439/2022F32}, volume={32}, series={Annals of Computer Science and Information Systems}

    Functional diversity of L-type calcium channels in rat cerebellar neurons

    No full text
    Single-channel recordings show that functionally different L-type Ca2+ channels coexist in rat cerebellar granules. Besides two different dihydropyridine (DHP)sensitive gating patterns with properties similar to those of cardiac L-type channels, cerebellar granules contain a third DHP-sensitive gating pattern with unusual voltage-dependent properties and slightly different conductance. This ''anomalous gating'' is characterized, on one hand, by rare, short openings with very low open probability even at high positive voltages and, on the other hand, by long openings with high open probability at negative voltages after a predepolarization. L-type channels with anomalous gating appear suited to generate a surge of Ca2+ influx following strong neuronal activity. The anomalous gating can be explained by a model in which voltage controls the equilibrium between two gating modes

    Dal cantiere dei Ss. Quattro Coronati a Roma Note di storia e restauro per Giovanni Carbonara

    l volume raccoglie alcuni saggi nati nell'ambito del Programma di restauro del chiostro del complesso monumentale dei Ss. Quattro Coronati a Roma, portato avanti dal 1999 con la supervisione scientifica di Giovanni Carbonara e la direzione scientifica di Lia Barelli. L'occasione della pubblicazione è il settantesimo compleanno di Giovanni Carbonara, per tutti gli autori guida insostituibile e sprone all'attività di ricerca. L'aspetto interdisciplinare del Programma e la natura stessa del monumento, che raccoglie in sé testimonianze dall'antichità romana ai giorni nostri, spiegano la differente e specialistica natura dei saggi che spaziano dalla storia dell'architettura e dell'arte al restauro, dall'archeologia alla paleobotanica, all'archeozoologia e alla ceramologia. Obiettivo comune è, però, una ricostruzione della storia complessiva e complessa che il monumento sia documenta in sé sia sottende attraverso le fonti materiali in esso sedimentate. E questo non solo per una acquisizione di conoscenza da parte della coscienza collettiva, che impone dunque la conservazione, ma anche come imprescindibile base per un'azione corretta di restauro
