ABSTRACT Partnership is a business strategy carried out by two or more parties within a certain period of time to achieve mutual benefit with the principle of mutual need and mutual enlargement of business in achieving common goals. This business activity is so popular that it has grown rapidly and includes various types of business fields. The Eyang Uti Shop Company located in West Pringsewu is one of the partners of D'Master Fried Chiken as a fairly well-known big businessman. The formulation of the problem in this study is how is the practice of partnership in the culinary business at Eyang Uti Shop and how is the review of Sharia Economic law regarding the practice of partnership in the culinary business at Eyang Uti Shop. This research is a field research and the research is qualitative, the data source comes from the results of field research. The data collection technique is carried out by means of documentation and interviews. Based on the results of field research conducted by the author to ask people involved in carrying out partnership practices in culinary businesses, with them carrying out the partnership practices. Based on the research, the partnership practices carried out by D'Master Fried Chicken and Kedai Eyang Uti use a partnership system. Partnership activities in their form that are widely found today are a new business phenomenon. This system has been used in Indonesia although there is no agency that accommodates or follows the development of this field. Also, partnerships and partnership systems are still very limited in understanding. Partnership practices in culinary businesses carried out by D'Master Fried Chicken with Kedai Eyang Uti are categorized as Syirkah Inan. In the partnership business of Kedai Eyang Uti, the author found irregularities including in establishing partnership relationships, there was a unilateral termination of the partnership by the big businessman for unclear reasons, namely by not providing raw materials to the small businessman in this case, Kedai Eyang Uti. Dependence on raw materials from large entrepreneurs causes losses for small entrepreneurs. Ideally, the initial agreement should include the termination of the partnership by the large entrepreneur because it has been agreed that small entrepreneurs are required to buy materials from large entrepreneurs. According to Sharia Economic Law, the implementation of partnership practices in the culinary business carried out by D'Master Fried Chicken is not in accordance with the pillars and conditions of partnership in Sharia Economic Law because there are parties who are harmed in the partnership. So the law on partnership practices in the culinary business is invalid or not permitted. Keywords: Partnership, Culinary Business, Business

Role of Retromer Complex in Neurodegenerative Diseases

    No full text
Retromer is a protein complex that plays a central role in endosomal trafficking, and retromer dysfunction has been linked to a growing number of neurological disorders. The process of intracellular trafficking and recycling is crucial for maintaining normal intracellular homeostasis, which is partly achieved through retromer complex. The retromer complex plays a primary role in sorting out the cargoes from endosomes back to the cell surface for reuse, to the trans-Golgi network (TGN) or alternatively to specialized endomembrane compartments away from lysosomal-mediated degradation. In most cases, the retromer acts as a core that interacts with associated proteins such as sorting nexin family member 27 (SNX27), the members of the vacuolar protein sorting 10 (VPS10) receptor family, the major endosomal actin polymerization-promoting complex known as wiskott-aldrich syndrome protein and scar homologue (WASH) or other proteins together in sorting the cargoes through various pathways, and some of these cargoes are risk factors for neurodegenerative diseases. Normally, there is a coordinated relationship between these pathways, however, when there is a defect such as haplo-insufficiency or mutation in itself or one or several units of retromer; it will lead to various pathologies. Here, we will summarize the molecular architecture of retromer complex and the roles of this system in intracellular trafficking signaling on pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases

Advantages of Diffuse Light for Horticultural Production and Perspectives for Further Research

    No full text
Plants use diffuse light more efficiently than direct light, which is well established due to diffuse light penetrates deeper into the canopy and photosynthetic rate of a single leaf shows a curvilinear response to the light flux density. Diffuse light also results in a more even horizontal and temporal light distribution in the canopy, which plays substantial role for crop photosynthesis enhancement as well as production improvement under diffuse light. Here we cover some of the recent findings about the effect of diffuse light on light distribution over the canopy and its direct and indirect effects on crop photosynthesis and plant growth, and suggest some perspectives for further research which could strengthen the scientific understanding of diffuse light modulate plant processes and its application in horticultural production

Unconscious processing of negative animals and objects: role of the amygdala revealed by fMRI

    No full text
Previous studies have shown that emotional stimuli can be processed through the amygdala without conscious awareness. The amygdala is also involved in processing animate and social information. However, it is unclear whether different categories of pictures (e.g., animals, objects) elicit different activity in the amygdale and other regions without conscious awareness. The objective of this study was to explore whether the factors of category, emotion and picture context modulate brain activation for unconscious processing. Pictures denoting different nonhuman animals and objects in negative and neutral emotional valences were presented using a sandwich-masking paradigm. Half of them were presented with human-related information in the contexts, and half were not. Our results showed significant interaction among category, emotion and context in the amygdala and subcortical regions. Specifically, negative animals elicited stronger activation in these regions than negative objects, especially with human contexts. In addition, there were different correlation patterns between the amygdala and cortical regions according to whether they included human context. There were limited activations in cortical category-related networks. These results suggest that the amygdala and subcortical regions dominantly process negative animals, and contextual information modulates their activities, making threatening stimuli that are most relevant to human survival preferentially processed without conscious awareness

Sphingosine 1-phosphate-induced ICAM-1 expression via NADPH oxidase/ROS-dependent NF-kappaB cascade on human pulmonary alveolar epithelial cells

    No full text
The intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) expression is frequently correlated with the lung inflammation. A bioactive sphingolipid metabolite, sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P), was involved in inflammation through the adhesion molecules induction, and then caused lung injury. However, the transduction mechanisms of the S1P stimulation to induce ICAM-1 expression in human pulmonary alveolar epithelial cells (HPAEpiCs) remain unclear. Here, we demonstrated that exposure of HPAEpiCs to S1P significantly induces ICAM-1 expression leading to increase monocyte adhesion on the surface of HPAEpiCs. These phenomena were effectively attenuated by pretreatments with series of inhibitors such as Rottlerin (PKCdelta), PF431396 (PYK2), diphenyleneiodonium chloride (DPI), apocynin (NADPH oxidase), Edaravone (ROS), and Bay11-7082 (NF-kappaB). Consistently, knockdown with siRNA transfection of PKCdelta, PYK2, p47phox, and p65 exhibited the same results. Pretreatment with both Gq-coupled receptor antagonist (GPA2A) and Gi/o-coupled receptor antagonist (GPA2) also blocked S1P-induced ICAM-1 protein and mRNA expression. We observed that S1P induced PYK2 activation via a Gq-coupled receptor/PKCdelta-dependent pathway. In addition, S1P induced NADPH oxidase activation and intracellular ROS generation, which were also reduced by Rottlerin or PF431396. We demonstrated that S1P induced NF-kappaB p65 phosphorylation and translocation from the cytosol to the nucleus in HPAEpiCs, which was inhibited by Rottlerin, PF431396, APO, DPI, or Edaravone. In the in vitro study, we established that S1P induced monocyte adhesion via an ICAM-1-dependent pathway. In the in vivo study, we found that S1P induced ICAM-1 protein and mRNA levels in the lung fractions, pulmonary hematoma, and leukocyte (mainly eosinophils and neutrophils) count in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid in mice via a PKCdelta/PYK2/NADPH oxidase/ROS/NF-kappaB signaling pathway. We concluded that S1P may induce lung inflammation via ICAM-1 induction associated with leukocyte recruitment

Urea transporter physiology studied in knockout mice

    No full text
In mammals, there are two types of urea transporters (UTs), UT-A and UT-B. The UT-A transporter is mainly expressed in kidney epithelial cells; while UT-B demonstrates a broader distribution in kidney, heart, brain, testis, urinary tract and other tissues. Over the past few years, multiple UT knockout mouse models have been generated enabling us to explore the physiological roles of the different UTs. In the kidney, deletion of UTA1/A3 results in polyuria and a severe urine concentrating defect, indicating that intrarenal recycling of urea plays a crucial role in the overall capacity to concentrate urine. Since UT-B has a wide distribution, multiple phenotypic abnormalities were found in UT-B null mice, such as defective urine concentration, heart block with aging, depression-like behavior and earlier male sexual maturation. This review summarizes the new insights of urea transporter functions in different organs from UT knockout mice. Finally, we take a glance at the pharmacological prospect of UTs

Improving Light Distribution by Zoom Lens for Electricity Savings in a Plant Factory with Light-emitting Diodes

    No full text
The high-energy consumption of plant factory is the biggest issue for its rapidly expanding, especially for the lighting electricity, which have been solved to a large extent by light-emitting diodes (LED). However, remarkable potentiality in energy saving remains to be further investigated. In this study, an optical system applied just below LED was designed. The effects of the system on growth and photosynthesis of butterhead lettuce (Lactuca sativa var. capitata) were examined, and the performances of the optical improvement on energy saving were evaluated by comparison with the traditional LED illumination mode. The irradiation patterns used were LED with zoom lenses (Z-LED) and conventional non-lenses LED (C-LED). Seedlings in both treatments were exposed to the same light environment during the entire growth period. The improvement saved over half of the light source electricity, while lower the temperature of Z-LED prominently. Influenced by this, the photosynthesis sharply decreased and further caused reduction in plant yield and nitrate content, while exhibited no negative effects on morphological parameters and photosynthetic pigment contents. Nevertheless, the much higher light use efficiency of Z-LED made this system a better approach of illumination in a plant factory with artificial lightings
