Optical properties and crystallization behavior of 45GeS(2)center dot 30Ga(2)S(3)center dot 25Sb(2)S(3) chalcogenide glass
Glass-ceramics containing Ga2S3 nano-crystals were reproducibly fabricated from the 45GeS(2)center dot 30Ga(2)S(3)center dot 25Sb(2)S(3) chalcogenide glass by heat treatment at 335 degrees C (T-g + 30 degrees C) for different durations. The obtained glass-ceramics are still transparent in the IR region and show improved thermal stability. Crystallization mechanism was investigated using the non-isothermal method. The results show that the crystallization rate constant K at 335 degrees C for the Ga2S3 phase is about 2 orders of magnitude larger than that of the second crystallization peak in the DSC curve. So it is easy to control the crystallization process with only Ga2S3 crystallites precipitated. With the above advantages, it has a great potential for drawing infrared transmitting glass-ceramic fibers with improved mechanical properties and enhanced luminescence for application in optical amplifiers. BackgroundReverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR) and real time RT-PCR (rRT-PCR) have been indispensable methods for influenza surveillance, especially for determination of avian influenza. The movement of testing beyond reference lab introduced the need of quality control, including the implementation of an evaluation system for validating personal training and sample proficiency testing.MethodsWe developed a panel with lysates of seasonal influenza virus (H1N1, H3N2 and B), serials of diluted H5N1 virus lysates, and in-vitro transcribed H5 hemaglutinin (HA) and an artificial gene RNAs for RT-PCR and rRT-PCR quality control assessment. The validations of stability and reproducibility were performed on the panel. Additionally, the panel was implemented to assess the detection capability of Chinese human avian influenza networks.ResultsThe panel has relatively high stability and good reproducibility demonstrated by kappa's tests. In the implementation of panel on Chinese human avian influenza networks, the results suggested that there were a relatively low number of discrepancies for both concise and reproducibility in Chinese avian influenza virus net works.ConclusionsA quality control panel of RT-PCR and real-time RT-PCR for avian influenza A (H5N1) surveillance network was developed. An availably statistical data, which are used to assess the detection capability of networks on avian influenza virus (H5N1), can be obtained relatively easily through implementation of the panel on networks
Formation and properties of chalcogenide glasses based on GeS2-Sb2S3-AgI system
International audienceNovel glasses in GeS2-Sb2S3-AgI system have been prepd. by melt-quenching method. A large glass-forming region was found in this novel system, in which almost 60 mol% AgI has been incorporated. The basic physiochem. properties of glass samples were investigated. With the addn. of AgI, red shift of short-wavelength absorption edge and distinct drop of the glass transition temp. (Tg) were obsd. In addn., a high Ag+ ion cond. of 6.37×10-4 S/cm at room temp. was obtained in 55(0.6GeS2-0.4Sb2S3)-45AgI sample, indicating that these glasses have potential application as amorphous solid electrolytes

The decrease in serum urate may play a crucial role in this process. Therefore, we aim to explore the relationship between decrease in serum urate and the risk of gout flares during ULT initiation.Patients and Methods: A 12-week prospective cohort study of Chinese male gout patients was conducted at Shandong Provincial Clinical Research Center for Immune Diseases and Gout in China. Patients were grouped by baseline serum urate (7– 7.9 mg/dL, 8– 8.9 mg/dL and ≥ 9 mg/dL). All patients received febuxostat 20 mg daily during weeks 0– 4, then escalated to 40mg during weeks 4– 12 if serum urate > 6mg/dL. The main outcomes were the number of gout flares and the decrease in serum urate. Poisson regression was performed. Results: A total of 282 participants were enrolled, of whom 260 completed (84, 87 and 89 in each group) from March 2021 to December 2021. A 44.2% of all participants experienced at least one gout flare. In the multivariate Poisson regression 1, Δ serum urate 0– 12 weeks (IRR 1.184, 95% CI, 1.062– 1.320; P=0.002), the number of gout flares before treatment 1 year (1.017, 1.010– 1.024; P< 0.001) and tophus (1.580, 1.023– 2.440; P=0.039) were independently associated with the number of gout flares. While in the multivariate Poisson regression 2, baseline serum urate (1.256, 1.050– 1.503; P=0.013) and the number of gout flares before treatment 1 year (1.014, 1.007– 1.022; P< 0.001) were independently associated with the number of gout flares, Δ serum urate 0– 12 weeks (1.055, 0.923– 1.207; P=0.433) was no longer a risk factor. Conclusion: ULT-induced gout flares depend on the degree of decrease in serum urate, which is affected by baseline serum urate. Higher baseline serum urate and greater decrease in serum urate lead to higher risk of gout flares. Keywords: baseline serum urate, decrease in serum urate, gout flares, febuxosta
Existence of analytic solutions to analytic nonlinear q-difference equations
AbstractIn this paper, some analytic approaches are formulated for the existence of analytic solutions of analytic nonlinear difference equations. From the point of view of dynamical systems, analytic solutions of such kinds of equations can be generally expressed by formal power series of exponential variables, so we are interested in considering a difference equation as a q-difference equation via a suitable coordinate transformation. After stating analytic results for formal series solutions of nonlinear q-difference equations, we also derive some results for the existence of analytic solutions to autonomous rational difference equations
A 2m-Range 711uW Body Channel Communication Transceiver Featuring Dynamically-Sampling Bias-Free Interface Front End
Body Channel Communication (BCC) offers a low-loss signal transmission medium for ultra-low-power wearable devices on human body [1]. However, the effective communication range on human body is limited to less than 1m in the state-of-the-art BCC transceivers [2], where the signal loss at the interface of body surface and BCC receiver remains to be one of the main bottlenecks. The limited communication range has blocked the popularization in many WBAN applications, such as signal transmission from to an intelligent insole to smart watch [3]. Relative to the high impedance of human body [4], the lower input impedance of BCC receiver induces significant signal loss. To reduce the interface loss, conventional interface front end (IFE) of BCC receivers was designed to be with a high input impedance [5], but the DC voltage bias decreased both the input impedance and signal gain of IFE.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository 'You share, we take care!' - Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Electronic Instrumentatio
