A pale celadon jade carving of Li Po and Li Yang-ping on the Yangtze. Li Po (also known as Li Bai, Li Bo or Li Tai-Po) was a celebrated poet (701-762 AD) who led a life of wandering. He formed a group of companions called The Eight Immortals of the Winecup, which alarmed the Court due to his previous association with conspiracy, and he was banished. Li Po then sought refuge with a kinsman, Li Yang-ping. According to various accounts, he (1) fell from his boat, while under the influence of wine, reaching for the reflection of the moon, and drowned, or (2) he died from cirrhosis of the liver or from mercury poisoning due to Taoist longevity elixirs. * “Sacred Taoist Mountains and the Poet Li Po,” Ania Holub. Gender on the agenda: the story of Hang Li Po revisited

    No full text
Reading with "gender on the agenda" is a critical part of the reading and studying of literature and cultural representations. It encourages us to become discerning readers and recognize aspects of the texts and the contexts of their creation and reception which we might not otherwise notice. This paper exemplifies the way in which I interpret the story of Hang Li Po with a gender perspective. Using the version of the story in Sejarah Melayu, I compare Rahmah Bujang\u27s revision of the Chinese princess in her drama Puteri Li Po. In Sejarah Me/ayu, Hang Li Po is representative of the type of silent women which pervades the telling of the history of Malay kings. By making her mute, the court scribe conceals her significance in the story. I argue, however, that her story is evidence of the weight Malays place on women as the cementers of alliance. Despite her silence and seeming lack of agency, Hang Li Po is absolutely central to the story because her presence and connection to China alter Melaka\u27s condition from political insecurity to political authority. I view Rahmah Bujang\u27s revision of the story of Hang Li Po as a challenge to and appropriation of the patriarchal Malay literary canon. Her imaginative construction of the well-known episode involves fundamental shifts in perspective. Thus, the silent Hang Li Po is now imbued with a voice and feelings. By exposing the other side of the female and male experiences, Rahmah questions the stereotypes perpetuated in the Malay court narrative traditions, making modern readers aware that indeed, gender perspective is on the agenda

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    Get PDF
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Desain Dan Implementasi Baterai Charger Li-Po Menggunakan Konverter Buck Dengan Metode Constant Current Constant Voltage

============================================================================================================================== Battery is a device that can store electrical energy. After being used as an energy source, energy capacity of the battery would be reduced, so that it can return to its maximum capacity, the battery needs to be charged. The method that is commonly used to charge li-po batteries is a constant current constant voltage, which is to keep a constant current first and to continue a constant voltage under certain conditions. To get the desired voltage, the li-po battery can be arranged in series. Arranged of batteries in series can make time to charge each cell of the battery to be not the same because after being used then each cell will have a different voltage. In this final project, a li-po battery charger will be proposed which can charge each cell on the battery individually so that it does not cause overcharging on the battery cell. This li-po charger uses a buck converter with constant current constant voltage method. On the implementation of buck converter, PI controller can make a constant current constant voltage in resistor as load, if in battery it will produce ripple of current 10% in constant current mode. The charging test for the battery until full shows different times for each cell, cell 1 for 84 minutes, cell 2 for 92 minutes and cell 3 for 76 minutes. They have average efficiency of 88.3% for converter 1, converter 2 is 89, 4% and converter 3 is 89.3%
