ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence (ECoE) is a new, autonomous, and self-sustained Centre of Excellence, that has been established through the ‘EXCELSIOR’, H2020 Widespread Teaming Phase 2 project, funded by the European Commission. The vision of the ECoE is to become a world-class Digital Innovation Hub for Earth Observation, space technology and Geospatial Information and to be the reference Centre in the Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East, and North Africa (EMMENA). During the stakeholders’ event, ECoE aspires to connect with esteemed stakeholders and scientists in the field of Earth Observation (EO) and explore pathways for future synergies that will contribute to a sustainable future in the EMMENA region. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. ECoE’s focus lies in contributing to the following SDG’s: #3 – Good Health and Well-being #6 – Clean Water and Sanitation #7 – Affordable and Clean Energy #8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth #11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities #13 – Climate Action #14 – Life below Water #15 – Life on Land #17 – Partnerships for the Goals Each participant of the event was given the opportunity to briefly present (approx. 15 minutes) themselves and their organization along with the research and technical activities and their connection to the UN SDG’s. The presentations were followed by an open discussion to explore possible ways for collaboration. It was essential through the submitted abstracts to highlight how the conducted work or research with EO data could support either in total or partly the SDG’s mentioned above

Among the Greek scholars who lived during the 19th century in the north-eastern Balkans, and also in Central Europe, and by their work contributed to the spiritual development of the Balkan Slavs, pride of place must be given to Georgios Zachariadis. Unfortunately, however, no detailed monograph on Zachariadis exists. On this account the problems that arise concerning the life and activities of this Greek scholar are still many and varied. In his study the author tries to fill one part of this lacuna. At the beginning of the work the following are examined, on the basis of new historical evidence: the date and place of Georgios Zachariadis’ birth, his studies and tenure as teacher in the Greek school at Zemun, the Serbian school at Šabac, and the Greek school in Vienna. The author continues his study by analyzing the various works of Zachariadis, which are written on Old Church^Slavonic, and the translations this Greek scholar made from Greek into Old Church Slavonic. Finally, the extent of Georgios Zachariadis’ contribution to Slavonic letters is made clear
