No full textA pesquisa resgata a relevância de Jaime Lerner como Arquiteto e Urbanista em um momento não investigado de sua carreira. Trata do período anterior à participação política de Jaime Lerner como prefeito e governador, quando ele se debruçou amplamente sobre a prática arquitetônica, entre 1962 e 1971. Documentar e investigar criticamente sua produção nesses períodos teve o fim de traçar paralelos com a própria obra de Lerner, com a arquitetura brasileira e internacional, produzida no momento, além de mapear seus colaboradores. Foi utilizado, principalmente, o acervo de projetos, desenhos, livros e entrevistas que pertencem ao Instituto Jaime Lerner e seus sócios como fonte primária.This research stands for the relevance of Jaime Lerner as an Architect and a Urbanist in an unexplored moment of his career. This study digs the period right before Jaime Lerner\'s political participation as mayor and as governor; when he dealt extensively with the architectural practice, between the period concerning 1962 up to 1971. In fact, the proposal of such an investigation is to document and to critically study his production during these periods of time, by tracing not only parallels with Lerner\'s own work, with the Brazilian and international architecture produced at that time, but also to map his collaborators. Collection of projects, drawings, books and interviews that belong to the Jaime Lerner Institute and his partners as primary source were used to give support to this work

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Does market concentration of downstream buyers squeeze upstream suppliers’ market power?
Full text linkUsing a theoretical model, we examine both the relationship between a downstream dominant firm’s market share and an upstream monopoly’s Lerner index and the relationship between upstream and downstream price elasticities of demand, in a regulated industry context. We undertake an empirical study that confirms our theoretical predictions, namely that the market share of a leader downstream firm is significant in explaining the upstream producers’ Lerner indexes. Also in accordance with the results of the theoretical model, the Lerner index is negatively influenced by the competition that suppliers face and by the level of economies of density, amongst other variables.vertical relations, buyers’ market power
RELAÇÃO DO FLUXO DE CAIXA LIVRE COM O DESEMPENHO ECONÔMICO E OS CUSTOS DE AGÊNCIA
No full textQuando os interesses dos gerentes e dos acionistas estão em conflito, os Custos de Agência (CA) tornam-se mais severos. Isso pode levar ao uso de Fluxo de Caixa Livre (FCL) em investimentos com resultados líquidos negativos ou dispêndios indiscriminados não diretamente relacionadas às operações da empresa, tendo, portanto, um impacto negativo no desempenho. Esse estudo visa investigar a relação do FCL com os CA e com o desempenho econômico das companhias abertas listadas na Brasil, Bolsa, Balcão (B3). Para tanto, verificou-se a influência do FCL nos CA e nos Indicares de Desempenho Econômico (IDE) destas companhias sendo utilizadas duas medidas para essa varíavel [FCL(1) e FCL(2)]. Trata-se de uma pesquisa quantitativa, descritiva e documental. O período analisado foi de 2009 a 2017, com dados trimestrais, coletados na base Economática, totalizando uma amostra de 5.292 observações empresa-ano e 147 companhias. Para responder ao problema de pesquisa foram realizadas estimações por Mínimos Quadrados Ordinários (MQO) e via regressão quantílica com dados em painel balanceado. Com base nas evidências encontradas não foi possível rejeitar a hipótese de que o FCL relaciona-se positivamente com os CA, também não foi possível rejeitar a hipótese de que o FCL relaciona-se negativamente com os IDE. Os achados das regressões quantílicas apontam problemas de agência nas companhias listadas na B3, pois têm maior sensibilidade nos quantis superiores. Sendo assim, a Teoria do Free Cash Flow não pode ser rejeitada no mercado brasileiro
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
Full text linkWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
