    Ricerca qualitativa e quantitativa in dialogo: spunti di riflessione

    Il sistema educativo è ambito chiave per la costruzione di consapevolezza individuale e collettiva, ma può incorrere nel rischio di perpetuare consuetudini e rincorrere (anziché precorrere) le richieste di cambiamento poste dal macroambiente. Quando si verifica questo stato di inerzia è auspicabile sostenere processi riflessivi che favoriscano un agire attivo e consapevole dei docenti. La ricerca educativa propone diverse strategie formative volte a costruire la crescita professionale di docenti ed educatori, ma questi approcci faticano ad uscire dal contesto in cui sono stati pensati. Un esempio di queste metodologie è la Ricerca-Formazione (R-F), i cui esiti presentano il limite di esiti “situati”. Questo contributo propone una iniziale riflessione sui possibili intrecci di un approccio quanti-qualitativo, interdisciplinare e co-progettato da ricercatori di settori affini, una riflessione teorica che usa la R-F come esempio paradigmatico. Infine, si presentano alcune osservazioni sulla ricerca quantitativa quale mezzo per tradurre il contenuto maturato in tale specifico contesto in indicatori validi e esportabili in ambiti diversi.The educational system is key sphere for building individual and collective awareness, but it may run the risk of perpetuating customs and chasing (rather than anticipating) the demands for change posed by the macroenvironment. When this state of inertia occurs, it is desirable to support reflective processes that foster active and conscious action by teachers. Educational research proposes several formative strategies aimed at building the professional growth of teachers and educators, but these approaches struggle to get out of the context in which they were conceived. One example of these methodologies is Research-Training (R-F), whose outcomes have the limitation of “situated” outcomes. This paper proposes an initial reflection on the possible entanglements of a quanti-qualitative, interdisciplinary approach co-designed by researchers from related fields, a theoretical reflection that uses R-F as a paradigmatic example. Finally, some observations are presented on quantitative research as a means of translating the content accrued in that specific context into valid indicators that can be exported to different fields

    Reading Mario Rigoni Stern at primary school. Historical analysis and new perspectives

    openI libri di lettura possono essere un utile strumento per valutare l’ampiezza e la consistenza dell’offerta formativa erogata nella scuola primaria. Al loro interno, talvolta, risulta carente l’attenzione che viene dedicata a scrittori di assoluto rilievo nel panorama letterario nazionale. È il caso, questo, di Mario Rigoni Stern. Nonostante il notevole successo di critica e pubblico riscosso in vita, l’opera dell’autore veneto non ha mai trovato piena affermazione nell’ambito delle proposte dedicate agli alunni del primo ciclo di istruzione. Se fino alla metà degli anni Novanta, infatti, soltanto il suo romanzo più noto, “Il sergente nella neve”, trovava collocazione nei testi scolastici, oggi il nome dello scrittore è scomparso quasi del tutto da questo scenario editoriale. Partendo dalla ricostruzione del quadro storico dell’ultimo mezzo secolo, che ha visto un progressivo abbandono dell’opera rigoniana nella scuola primaria, il presente lavoro si prefigge di conseguire un duplice scopo: da una parte, comprendere quale sia il grado di familiarità degli insegnanti di oggi con l’opera di Rigoni Stern; dall’altra, porre enfasi sulle specifiche peculiarità narrative che rendono questo autore adatto all’esperienza letteraria dei bambini. Nello specifico, la ricostruzione del quadro storico avverrà attraverso l’analisi dei più diffusi libri di lettura che, nel corso dei decenni, sono stati adottati nella scuola primaria italiana. La notorietà dello scrittore presso la vasta popolazione degli insegnanti di oggi, invece, sarà valutata ricorrendo alla somministrazione di opportuni questionari. Le caratteristiche che rendono le opere in questione fruibili da parte dei bambini, infine, verranno messe in luce con appropriati rimandi alla variegata produzione di Rigoni Stern. In conclusione, saranno presentate e discusse ipotetiche strategie di intervento che potrebbero, da un lato, favorire il potenziamento del patrimonio di conoscenze degli insegnanti in un’ottica di formazione continua e, dall’altro, stimolare negli alunni della scuola primaria la curiosità verso testimoni preziosi della nostra cultura.The reading books can be a useful tool for assessing the breadth and consistence of the educational offer provided at primary school. Sometimes, within them, very little attention is paid to authors of absolute prominence in the national literary landscape. That’s exactly what happened to Mario Rigoni Stern. Although he obtains critical and public success when he was alive, his work has never found full affirmation in the context of proposals aimed at primary school pupils. If until the mid-1990s only his best-known novel, “The Sergeant in the Snow”, found a place in the primary school textbooks, currently his name has almost completely disappeared from this specific publishing scenario. Starting from the reconstruction of the last half century historical framework concerning the gradual abandonment of the Rigoni Stern’s work, this dissertation is aimed to achieve a dual purpose. On one hand, the goal is to gain insight into how much primary school teachers are familiar with Mario Rigoni Stern’s work. On the other hand, the aim is to emphasize those narrative features that make this author suitable for being read by children. More precisely, the reconstruction of historical framework will take place through the analysis of the most popular reading books which, over the decades, have been adopted at Italian primary school. The degree of teachers’ familiarity with our author, instead, will be assessed through the administration of appropriate questionnaires. Lastly, in order to highlight the appropriateness of Rigoni Stern novels for reading at the primary school, a brief compendium of some significant excerpts from his work will be presented. Finally, the very last part of this thesis will be focused on some hypothetical strategies for improving the strength of teachers continuing education processes. These strategies, if properly designed, can stimulate pupils’ curiosity about valuable personalities of our culture

    Il ciclo riflessivo di Gibbs e la Ricerca-formazione: una proposta di ricerca

    Nell’ambito della formazione il tema della riflessività ha dato origine a un variegato universo di pratiche. Dare valore alla riflessione sull’esperienza significa superare la tradizionale separazione tra teoria e pratica, che vede l’esperienza unicamente come il luogo in cui si applicano saperi e schemi d’azione appresi altrove. Non è semplice raccogliere evidenze di come questo processo riflessivo si inneschi, quali possano essere i livelli del suo sviluppo e che risultati, in termini di cambiamenti e nuove consapevolezze, provochi nei soggetti che vi partecipano. Gibbs (1988) con il suo schema di riflessione sulla pratica suggerisce sei dimensioni di riferimento, che spingono alla riflessione individuale o collettiva. Questo modello, di per sé situato e non generalizzabile a una famiglia di situazioni, presenta delle potenzialità non ancora esplorate. Il presente contributo propone un progetto di ricerca fondato sulla ricerca-formazione che, insieme a docenti di diversi ordini scolastici utilizzi questo modello per l’attivazione, l’analisi e la valutazione di processi riflessivi sul proprio lavoro. Presenteremo il quadro di ricerca, individuando le intenzionalità alla base delle scelte metodologiche. Si analizzerà l’utilizzo di strumenti quantitativi a sostegno del quadro di ricerca qualitativo. L’intreccio di strumenti quantitativi e qualitativi sarà funzionale a sostenere l’esportabilità del processo e supportare la capacità del cambiamento nel docente.In the field of education, the theme of reflexivity has given rise to a diverse universe of practices. To value reflection on experience is to overcome the traditional separation of theory and practice, which sees experience solely as the place where knowledge and patterns of action learned elsewhere are applied. It is not easy to gather evidence of how this reflective process is triggered, what the levels of its development might be, and what results, in terms of changes and new awareness, it causes in the subjects who participate in it. Gibbs (1988) with his schema of reflection on practice suggests six reference dimensions, which prompt individual or collective reflection. This model, itself situated and not generalizable to a family of situations, has potential that has not yet been explored. This paper proposes a research-training-based research project that, together with teachers from different grade levels, will apply this model for the activation, analysis and evaluation of reflective processes on teachers’ actions. We will present the research framework, identifying the intentionalities behind the methodological choices. We will explore the use of quantitative tools to support the qualitative research framework, functional for the exportability of the process and the triggering of changes in teachers

    Il Sergente by Marco Paolini as a theatre adaptation of a novel by Mario Rigoni Stern This paper is an analysis of a monodrama by Paolini, Il Sergente, which is an adaptation of a novel by Mario Rigoni Stern published in 1953. Comparing a fragment of the novel with a fragment of the monodrama text, and on the basis of other source materials for example the film about Paolini’s interview with Rigoni Stern, we can prove that the adaptation was a synthesis of the author of the novel’s original message. This synthesis is partly characterised by detaching the main character’s personal experience from the historical context of World War II, in this case the Italian Fascist attack on the Soviet Union.     Prevalence of perennial severe allergic asthma in Italy and effectiveness of omalizumab in its management: PROXIMA – an observational, 2 phase, patient reported outcomes study

    Background: We designed the PROXIMA study (Patient-Reported Outcomes and Xolair® In the Management of Asthma) to determine the proportion of patients with severe asthma sensitive to perennial allergens, and to evaluate asthma control and treatment adherence up to 12 months in patients treated with omalizumab in Italian population. In addition, an ancillary study was designed to explore protein biomarkers and characterize them in relation to severe allergic asthma and treatment effects by proteomic approach. Methods: PROXIMA is an observational, multicenter, cross-sectional and prospective cohort study conducted at 25 centers in Italy, in outpatient settings. The study consists of two phases: 1) a cross-sectional phase plans to enroll 600 patients with severe allergic asthma, in step 4 therapy as per GINA guidelines, aged ≥18 years, needing a step up in therapy, and 2) a longitudinal phase on patients who will start omalizumab add-on therapy per clinician's judgment at baseline visit (approximately 180-240 patients). The primary variable of the cross-sectional phase is the proportion of patients with severe asthma presenting with perennial form of allergy (skin prick test or in vitro test). The primary variable of longitudinal phase is proportion of patients who achieve disease control (assessed by Asthma Control Questionnaire [ACQ]) with omalizumab at 6 months, and maintain it at 12 months. Secondary variables are patient compliance to omalizumab, patient-reported perception of cognitive and emotional impact of the illness, assessed by Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire (Brief IPQ) and the health related quality of life evaluated by the EuroQoL 5D-3 L (EQ-5D-3 L). Safety endpoints will be recorded during the course of the study. Patients participating in the longitudinal phase will be enrolled for ancillary study if they provide additional informed consent. Protein species in complex mixtures will be identified using innovative MudPIT (Multidimensional Protein Identification Technology) method. Conclusions: The results of this observational study will provide estimate of patient population allergic to perennial allergens in Italy and information on patient-reported outcomes with omalizumab therapy in a real-world setting. The exploratory proteomic analysis on asthma biomarkers could eventually provide new data to identify responder patients to anti IgE therapy

Estos tanto dan cuenta de una visión particular acerca de algunos hitos de la historia reciente y reflejan las grandes transformaciones sociales y culturales de fines del siglo XX y comienzos del XXI, como muestran las formas en que se han visto y se ven afectados los individuos por aquellos y por estas. La tesis tiene dos partes: la primera, cuyos capítulos se dividen por ciudades, se enfoca en los textos donde es particularmente relevante la representación de estas urbes. La segunda parte se centra en temas o aspectos vinculados a lo urbano: los espacios y su transformación en la posmodernidad, la memoria y la ciudad, ciertos trasvases entre periodismo y literatura, la configuración del ethos autoral, el posicionamiento del escritor español respecto a la construcción de ciudadanía y otros pronunciamientos de carácter político.     Partial derivatives in the nonsmooth setting

    We study partial derivatives on the product of two metric measure structures, in particular in connection with calculus via modules as proposed by the first named author in [13]. Our main results are: i) The extension to this non-smooth framework of Schwarz's theorem about symmetry of mixed second derivatives ii) A quite complete set of results relating the property f∈W2,2(X×Y) on one side with that of f(⋅,y)∈W2,2(X) and f(x,⋅)∈W2,2(Y) for a.e. y,x respectively on the other. Here X,Y are RCD spaces so that second order Sobolev spaces are well defined. These results are in turn based upon the study of Sobolev regularity, and of the underlying notion of differential, for a map with values in a Hilbert module: we mainly apply this notion to the map x↦dyf(x,⋅) in order to build, under the appropriate regularity requirements, its differential dxdyf
