Practical tracking via finite-valued control for uncertain SISO plants
In this paper we present a new technique for control design, with controllers characterized by control signals that may assume only a finite number of values, in order to force a SISO linear plant, subject to disturbances and parametric uncertainties, to track a given sufficiently regular reference trajectory.
The used approach is based on Lyapunov method and allows designing a control law, with prescribed levels of the control signal, which guarantees to follow the reference trajectory with specified values of the tracking error and of its derivatives until n-1 , where n is the order of the plant, and in particular with specified values of the error and of its first derivative.
The proposed control law is a generalization of the traditional relay control laws and of the sliding mode ones. It is quite robust, guarantees the convergence of the error in a prefixed time, generally has a relatively low switching frequency and it can be easily realized with a low cost microcontroller.
Moreover, we present a simple example that shows the advantages of the control law obtained with the proposed design methodology with respect to the ones obtained using sliding mode and classical relay approaches

Blocking the IL-4/IL-13 Axis versus the JAK/STAT Pathway in Atopic Dermatitis: How Can We Choose?
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is an immune-mediated skin disorder with a chronic-relapsing course and a multifactorial pathogenesis. In contrast to the traditional concept of AD as solely a type 2 immune-activated disease, new findings highlight the disease as highly heterogeneous, as it can be classified into variable phenotypes based on clinical/epidemiological or molecular parameters. For many years, the only therapeutic option for moderate-severe AD was traditional immunosuppressive drugs. Recently, the area of systemic therapy of AD has significantly flourished, and many new substances are now marketed, licensed, or in the last step of clinical development. Biological agents and small molecules have enriched the therapeutic armamentarium of moderate-to-severe AD, such as dupilumab, tralokinumab, lebrikizumab (monoclonal antibodies targeting the IL-4/13 pathway), abrocitinib, upadacitinib, and baricitinib (JAK inhibitors). Indeed, the AD treatment paradigm is now split into two main approaches: targeting the IL-4/13 axis or the JAK/STAT pathway. Both approaches are valid and have strong evidence of preclinical and clinical efficacy. Therefore, the choice between the two can often be difficult and represents a major challenge for dermatologists. Indeed, several important factors must be taken into account, such as the heterogeneity of AD and its classification in phenotypes, patients' comorbidities, age, and personal preferences. The aim of our review is to provide an overview of the clinical and molecular heterogeneities of AD and to explore the factors and parameters that, in clinical practice, may help inform clinical decision-making
Capillary thinning analysis
The data analysis package is composed of three distinct scripts designed to be run in Matlab with png image files. ContactAngle.m measures the contact angle of a liquid bridge and the spreading distance on the substrate for a series of images during liquid bridge thinning. Startpoint_Symmetry finds the minimum radius for a series of liquid bridge thinning images, identifies the start and end point of thinning, and gives information about the overall symmetry of the trials. EC_binning identifies the fitting region, fits and reports relaxation time for elastocapillary thinning fluids. For all three scripts, an example dataset is provided to demonstrate script functionality.This collection of scripts is a package for analyzing extensional rheology data of liquid bridges. While this was created with Dripping-onto-Substrate datasets, this data analysis package may be useful for other liquid bridge thinning applications such as CaBER. Readers, writers and new technologies: Kids, Facebook and Violetta
La relación de los niños y niñas con las nuevas tecnologías es compleja y asume diferentes formas y variantes que se modifican cotidianamente. En este artículo nos proponemos abordar la relación de los niños y niñas con las nuevas tecnologías de la información y de la comunicación a la luz de una dimensión que consideramos central: las interacciones a través de las plataformas y espacios 2.0, dado que la participación en las nuevas plataformas se organiza, en gran medida, a través de intervenciones, de construcciones conversacionales, que ficcionalizan el contacto. Los dispositivos alientan una forma de interacción entre las partes involucradas que desplaza el peso de la conexión hacia la conectividad (Van Dijck, 2013); así, el análisis mostrará que estar conectados no es equivalente a estar comunicados. La observación de los comentarios de los niños y niñas en la página Facebook de la serie televisiva Violetta confirma la hipótesis de una “participación simbólica” (Reich, 2011) o “ficcionalización de la participación” (Duek, 2013), especialmente en los dispositivos que se articulan alrededor de la producción de comentarios. Si el comentario sintetiza el vínculo entre lectores y escritores en las tecnologías participativas (Calabrese, 2016), este no deja de ser por momentos perfectamente monológico.Children are developing a complex relationship with new technologies, which forms and variables are constantly changing. In this paper, we address the relationship between children and new technologies through interactions, given that participation in social media lies to a great extent on a conversational behaviour that fictionalizes communication. Social media encourage a form of participation that focuses on connectivity over connectedness (Van Dijck, 2013); the analysis shows that being connected does not necessarily entail communication. The observation of children’s comments in the Facebook page of the TV series Violetta confirms the hypothesis of the “symbolic participation” (Reich, 2011: 99) or the “fictionalization of participation” (Duek, 2013), especially in those media that are organized around the production of on line comments. If comments synthesize the relationship between the readers and writers in collaborative technologies (Calabrese, 2016), it remains, generally, perfectly monologic.Fil: Calabrese, Laura.
