No full textIn this paper a high-resolution extension of CLEAN-SC is proposed: HR-CLEAN-SC. Where CLEAN-SC uses peak sources in “dirty maps” to define so-called source components, HR-CLEAN-SC takes advantage of the fact that source components can likewise be derived from points at some distance from the peak, as long as these “source markers” are on the main lobe of the Point Spread Function (PSF). This is very useful when sources are closely spaced together, such that their PSFs interfere. Then, alternative markers can be sought in which the relative influence by PSFs of other source positions is minimised. For those markers the source components better agree with the actual sources, which allows for better estimation of their locations and strengths. This paper outlines the theory needed to understand this approach and discusses applications to 2D and 3D microphone array simulations with closely spaced sources

Programa de Pós-Graduação em Engenharia Civil.No presente trabalho efetuou-se a análise temporal das transformações do uso da terra do Parque Municipal da Lagoa do Peri gerando uma base de dados temáticos, obtidas pela interpretação de fotografias aéreas dos anos de 1938, 1978 e 1998. A área de estudo compreende uma das unidades de Conservação da Ilha de Santa Catarina que apresenta expressiva área coberta pela vegetação secundária em estágios avançados de regeneração, enquanto que a lagoa do Peri destaca-se como um importante manancial de água doce utilizada para o abastecimento de comunidades locais. Os dados interpretados nas aerofotos foram georreferenciados em uma base cartográfica e posteriormente preparados para a entrada em sistema de informações geográficas - SIG visando compor mapas temáticos de cada ano e efetuar a análise das transformações temporais. Os resultados da análise temporal no SIG mostraram como ocorreram as alterações de uso e cobertura da terra, considerando os aspectos antrópicos , processos de regeneração da vegetação, evolução da agropecuária, reflorestamentos, origem e expansão da área urbana. Os dados cartográficos temáticos em SIG, originaram uma base de dados em meio digital estruturada de maneira a possibilitar a atualização periódica, constituindo assim, um instrumento para a gestão, monitoramento e conservação da área do Parque

Effects of High Flavanol Dark Chocolate on Cardiovascular Function and Platelet Aggregation.
No full textRegular consumption of chocolate and cocoa products has been linked to reduced cardiovascular mortality. This study compared the effects of high flavanol dark chocolate (HFDC; 1064mg flavanols/day for 6 weeks) and low flavanol dark chocolate (LFDC; 88mg flavanols/day for 6 weeks) on blood pressure, heart rate, vascular function and platelet aggregation in men with pre-hypertension or mild hypertension. Vascular function was assessed by pulse wave analysis using radial artery applanation tonometry in combination with inhaled salbutamol (0.4 mg) to assess changes due to endothelium-dependent vasodilatation. HFDC did not significantly reduce blood pressure compared to baseline or LFDC. Heart rate was increased by LFDC compared to baseline, but not by HFDC. Vascular responses to salbutamol tended to be greater after HFDC. Platelet aggregation induced by collagen or the thromboxane analogue U46619 was unchanged after LFDC or HFDC, whereas both chocolates reduced responses to ADP and the thrombin receptor activator peptide, SFLLRNamide (TRAP6), relative to baseline. Pre-incubation of platelets with theobromine also attenuated platelet aggregation induced by ADP or TRAP6. We conclude that consumption of HFDC confers modest improvements in cardiovascular function. Platelet aggregation is modulated by a flavanol-independent mechanism that is likely due to theobromine.This study was supported by a grant (to R. Corder) from Barry Callebaut Belgium N
Ca-modified Al–Mg–Sc alloy with high strength at elevated temperatures due to a hierarchical microstructure
No full textAl-Mg alloys are normally prone to lose part of their yield and tensile strength at high temperatures due to insufficient thermal stability of the microstructure. Here, we present a Ca-modified Al–Mg–Sc alloy demonstrating high strength at elevated temperatures. The microstructure contains Al4Ca phases distributed as a network along the grain boundary and Al3(Sc,Zr) nano-particles dispersed within the grains. The microstructure evolution and age-hardening analysis indicate that the combination of an Al4Ca network and Sc-rich nano-particles leads to excellent thermal stability even upon aging at 300 °C. The tensile strength of the alloy for temperatures up to 250 °C is significantly improved by an aging treatment and is comparable with the commercial heat-resistant aluminum alloys, i.e., A356 and A319. At a high temperature of 300 °C, the tensile strength is superior to the above-mentioned commercial alloys, even more so when expressed as the specific strength due to the low density of Ca-modified Al–Mg–Sc alloy. Uma proposta de cadastro técnico multifinalitário rural único

Programa de Pós-Graduação em Engenharia Civil.Esta pesquisa constitui-se no levantamento e analise de cadastros de áreas rurais existentes no País, na esfera do Governo Federal, tais como o do Conselho de Segurança Nacional, Departamento Nacional da Produção Mineral # DNPM, Fundação Nacional do Índio - FUNAI, Instituto Brasileiro de Meio Ambiente - IBAMA, Instituto Nacional de Colonização e Reforma Agrária - INCRA, Secretária da Receita Federal e outros. Um dos fatores que levou a realização da pesquisa foi o desconhecimento da realidade cadastral rural brasileira, bem como identificar caminhos que possam estruturar a ferramenta, que é o Cadastro Técnico Multifinalitário, para auxiliar nas definições dos rumos do desenvolvimento sustentável de qualquer país. A metodologia da pesquisa constou do levantamento das informações contidas nos cadastros dos organismos citados, com respeito à: dados coletados _ como são coletados, onde são coletados, seus tratamentos, periodicidade de atualizações, onde e como são armazenados, quando, como e por quem são utilizados; estrutura do cadastro_ tipo de banco de dados, equipamentos e aplicativos utilizados e gerência; aspectos legais_ legislações pertinentes, normas e outros. Com base nessas informações obtidas analisou-se as demandas das Instituições pesquisadas, quanto aos dados necessários às definições de políticas de desenvolvimento, planejamentos, estratégias, elaborações de programas e planos, execuções, acompanhamentos e monitoramentos relativos as suas funções legais. Constatou-se que existem áreas de interseções entre esses cadastros, fato que demonstra a duplicidade de informações, dos cadastros rurais executados no país. A partir dessas analises propõe-se caminhos para a montagem de um sistema de Cadastro Técnico Multifinalitário Rural Único para o país, bem como estratégias para a sua disseminação, como ferramenta indispensável para conduzir um desenvolvimento sustentável
