Cryptocurrency scams: analysis and perspectives
Since the inception of Bitcoin in 2009, the market of cryptocurrencies has grown beyond the initial expectations, as witnessed by the thousands of tokenised assets available on the market, whose daily trades amount to dozens of USD billions. The pseudonymity features of these cryptocurrencies have attracted the attention of cybercriminals, who exploit them to carry out potentially untraceable scams. The wide range of cryptocurrency-based scams observed over the last ten years has fostered the research on the analysis of their effects, and the development of techniques to counter them. However, doing research in this field requires addressing several challenges: for instance, although a few data sources about cryptocurrency scams are publicly available, they often contain incomplete or misclassified data. Further, there is no standard taxonomy of scams, which leads to ambiguous and incoherent interpretations of their nature. Indeed, the unavailability of reliable datasets makes it difficult to train effective automatic classifiers that can detect and analyse cryptocurrency scams. In this paper, we perform an extensive review of the scientific literature on cryptocurrency scams, which we systematise according to a novel taxonomy. By collecting and homogenising data from different public sources, we build a uniform dataset of thousands of cryptocurrency scams. We devise an automatic tool that recognises scams and classifies them according to our taxonomy. We assess the effectiveness of our tool through standard performance metrics. We also give an in-depth analysis of the classification results, offering several insights into threat types, from their features to their connection with other types. Finally, we provide a set of guidelines that policymakers could follow to improve user protection against cryptocurrency scams

Differential Acquisition of m-Sequences using Recursive Soft Sequential Estimation
In this contribution a novel sequential estimation method is proposed for the acquisition of -sequences. This sequential estimation method exploits the principle of iterative soft-in-soft-out (SISO) decoding for enhancing the acquisition performance, and that of differential pre-processing for the sake of achieving an enhanced acquisition performance, when communicating over various communication environments. Hence the advocated acquisition arrangement is referred to as the Differential Recursive Soft Sequential Estimation (DRSSE) acquisition scheme. The DRSSE acquisition scheme exhibits a low complexity, which is similar to that of an -sequence generator, while achieving an acquisition time that is linearly dependent on the number of stages in the -sequence generator. A low acquisition time is achieved with the advent of the property that the proposed DRSSE scheme is capable of determining the real-time reliabilities associated with the decision concerning a set of, say , consecutive chips. This set of consecutive chips constitutes the sufficient initial condition for enabling the local -sequence generator to produce a synchronized local despreading -sequence replica. Owing to these attractive characteristics, the DRSSE acquisition scheme constitutes a promising initial synchronization scheme for acquisition of long -sequences, when communicating over various propagation environments
∑_(l+m=k,l,m≥0) ((α+l-1)¦l) ((β+m-1)¦m)=((α+β+k-1)¦k) and its application to negative binomial distribution
We prove here the following equation: ∑_(l+m=k,l,m≥0) ((α+l-1)¦l) ((β+m-1)¦m)=((α+β+k-1)¦k) and give its application to prove the reproductive property of the negative binomial distribution.
These finite sum equation involving binomial coefficients and proof of the reproductive property are not known as far as the author knows.論文(Article)departmental bulletin pape

Ribozymes as specific therapeutic agents against smooth muscle cell migration and proliferation: a new perspective in gene therapy
Purpose: Cell migration and proliferation are still an open issues concerning atherogenesis and restenosis. The exploitation of ribozyme for the inactivation of genes involved in the phenotype changes responsible for the pathological state, could be a promising and innovative technique. The Purpose of this study was to set up a method for the delivery and the validation of a ribozyme in Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells (VSM cells).
Methods: A minimal ribozyme was tailored on PDGFR-b mRNA target sequence by an "in silico" approach and synthesized with an oligonucleotide synthesizer apparatus. The delivery was accomplished with a new polyplexed vehicle. The complex vehicle-ribozyme was administered to porcine VSM cells in culture in the presence of serum. Cells were stimulated by PDGF-BB after 24 hours and their migration activity monitored according to an "in vitro wound model".
Results: A differential migratory activity was observed: cells stimulated with PDGF-BB, invaded extensively the scratched surface, whereas cells pre-treated with ribozyme (before growth factor stimulation) displayed a considerably reduction of this repair activity. A computational measure of repair demonstrated that the ribozyme reduced the cell migration of about 90%.
Conclusions: These results are very encouraging since the activity of ribozyme was demonstrated in a biological model. Moreover, the vehicle preserved the gene-drug from nucleases and it was highly effective also in the presence of serum, condition thatmimic the effective environment of vascular tissue. Such pilot experiments open actual perspectives for "in vivo" local gene knock-down treatments suggesting therapeutic strategies based on multiple ribozymes targeting different crucial pathological genes
Informetrics on M. N. Srinivas
M. N. Srinivas, the well known sociologist is widely recognised as architect of modern Indian sociology and social anthropology. His publications have been analysed by year, domain, authorship pattern, channels of communication used. Keywords, etc. The results indicate that the papers published by him are of a nature that qualify him to be a 'role model' for the younger generations to emulate.
By the end of 1995, Srinivas had to his credit 144 papers which, included 33 broad papers in sociology and anthropology; 18 papers in social change; 28 papers in village studies; 12 papers on religion; 17 papers on caste and 36 papers of general popular interest. The periods 1958-61 and 1974-77, when Srinivas was 38-41 and 58-61 years old. were his most productive periods with highest publication activity
