    The story

A short, warm, often painful, heartfelt human story from the pen of Dunja Frankental (née Kovačević). Her fate in life, probably unexpectedly, by some fateful threads and connections, brings her to Israel. In that story, which is simple in its title, and seemingly realistically small in scope, the life fate of her family is told, so easily recognizable even in the possible life circumstances of many of us! Whether the family 'circle of life' of the described destinies and events has 'closed' ... or not ... let those who read it judge that, and I believe that even the author herself cannot and will not give a 'final answer' to this

Systemization of work as a process

Systematization of work is a powerful source of information used for managing organizations. We see it as an essential tool for managing work processes and HCM (human capital management). It provides us with principle of equality and fairness at workload deployment and at evaluation of work effect. Parallel to the development of society and therefore organizations systematization of work is gaining its importance. Classical systemization of work is becoming useless in organizations where work is changing rapidly and overgrowing quantitative and routine determination. Organizations that use it can expect loss of main organizational and management tool which provides us to regulate work and business processes as well as HR (human resources). If we see modern organization as dynamic, flexible, led towards the progress and development, fearless and determined then systemization of work must be adjusted to be able to follow each step of change. Lack of expertise in (modern) systematization of work inhibits it to be changed or modified. Therefore many Slovenian organizations are lagging behind in this area. By modifying the organizations systemization of work and all of its intentions must be modified along. In this thesis, after a preliminary analysis of the 202 employees’ staff, we studied their perception of the problem state. We conducted an analysis based on HR experts opinions located in Slovenian companies which use systemization of work and determined the adequacy of the current classification of work in establishing the basic wage as well as at work organization. Our key idea is that the systemization of work must also become a process just as other organizational processes which are monitored by it. This idea was verified among HR specialists in their companies with following key results: - modern systematization of work should be derived from the properties of an employee instead of a system, - anyone can be a creator of its own systemization of work (under the supervision of the manager), - systematization of work must become a process rather than a static document, followed by late changes in structure and content of the work, - employee’s pay can be shaped on the basis of the product of effective work and complexity factor of activity while securing contractual salary. On this basis, we designed a model of systemization of work as a process by which we can shape an employee’s pay on the basis of effective work, difficulty and quality of done work as well as to organize work based on the competences of employees

Rituals of the enchanted world: Noh theater and religion in medieval Japan

    Get PDF
This study explores of the religious underpinnings of medieval Noh theater and its operating as a form of ritual. As a multifaceted performance art and genre of literature, Noh is understood as having rich and diverse religious influences, but is often studied as a predominantly artistic and literary form that moved away from its religious/ritual origin. This study aims to recapture some of the Noh’s religious aura and reclaim its religious efficacy, by exploring the ways in which the art and performance of Noh contributed to broader religious contexts of medieval Japan. Chapter One, the Introduction, provides the background necessary to establish the context for analyzing a selection of Noh plays which serve as case studies of Noh’s religious and ritual functioning. Historical and cultural context of Noh for this study is set up as a medieval Japanese world view, which is an enchanted world with blurred boundaries between the visible and invisible world, human and non-human, sentient and non-sentient, enlightened and conditioned. The introduction traces the religious and ritual origins of Noh theater, and establishes the characteristics of the genre that make it possible for Noh to be offered up as an alternative to the mainstream ritual, and proposes an analysis of this ritual through dynamic and evolving schemes of ritualization and mythmaking, rather than ritual as a superimposed structure. Chapters Two through Five are analyses of four Noh plays, Kanawa, Dōjōji, Yamamba, and Hyakuman. This selection reflects my argument that a particularly efficacious form of Noh ritual is one that best responds to the liminal quality of the medieval worldview, and this is expressed through a specific way in which the main protagonist of each play is constructed as a ritualist and an object of ritual, and symbolically embodied in various incarnations of the character of demon - oni.Submission published under a 24 month embargo labeled 'Closed Access', the embargo will last until 2018-12-01The student, Dunja Jelesijevic, accepted the attached license on 2016-08-11 at 12:00.The student, Dunja Jelesijevic, submitted this Dissertation for approval on 2016-08-11 at 12:13.This Dissertation was approved for publication on 2016-08-11 at 16:02.DSpace SAF Submission Ingestion Package generated from Vireo submission #10109 on 2017-02-28 at 14:40:43Made available in DSpace on 2017-03-01T17:00:49Z (GMT).

    No full text
In 1969 Philippe Jaccottet translated for the magazine Aquila the poem Dunja by Giuseppe Ungaretti. The study aims to highlight the singularity of this translation, shedding light on the genetics of its writing: that is to say to penetrate the invisible side of translating in which both the author and the translator participate. Starting from the terminological clarification of the notion of transparency, it applies itself to elucidate the translator’s strategies by highlighting the dialectic of hermetics and hermeneutics. The juxtaposition of the poem’s versions, elaborated by Jaccottet during the work in progress, provides information on the stages of transparent translation starting with the lexical work which concerns the search for equivalence. It reveals furthermore the hesitations and doubts of a wise translator, aware of the impossibility of understanding the poetic statement by neglecting its emotional, imaginal and prosodic aspects. In order to reach the conclusion that this is indeed a “relevant” translation, resulting from a meticulous work on the potentialities of the target language, which does not hesitate to transgress its grammatical norms with the purpose of preserving the foreignness of the source text.

In her survey of the book printed as an edition of the Complete Works of Marko Marulić, the author informs the reader that the Pisni razlike (Various Poems) contains all Marulić‚s Croatian verses for which his authorship has been proved, with exception of the poem Judita (printed as a separate volume) and his dialogic and dramatic verse, which will be accommodated in another volume of the same series. The present edition, edited by professor Josip Vončina, sticks to the oldest extant manuscript. In his work, the editor proceeds with great scrupulosity, checking every single attribution of his predecessors. Also, he never relies on linguistic and stylistic features of the allegedly authentic works of the poet, but only on Marulić‚s own annotations in, or accompanying, the text, in which the poet openly states his authorship. In this way he establishes a reliable canon of Marulić‚s Croatian poems. In his preface professor J. Vončina sets forth his methodological principles and explains the reasons for his choice in every single case. The author of the other preface to the same book is Tonko Maroević, who points out the literary-historical and cultural significance of Marulić‚s Croatian poems. The complete vocabulary of Marulić‚s texts in the book was compiled by Milan Moguš. The author of the survey points to the prevalently medieval character of Marulić‚s verse, drawing the conclusion that the author of the present poems is hardly Marulić we know from the Judita. Yet, this should not be seen as a drawback. On the contrary, the fact adds new quality to his personality, showing him not only as a Renaissance Humanist, but also as a writer who amply drew his ideals from the poetics and rich spiritual culture of the Croatian Middle Ages

Influence of the Dubrovnik classicism on the epic Poem Ljepos duše (Pulchritude of the soul) by Ivan Dražić

This paper analyses the epic Ljepos duše written by Ivan Dražić, a poet from Split (1655 - 1739). The epic was written amidst baroque epics of Dubrovnik, on the one hand and academic classicism of Dubrovnik, on the other hand. It was also influenced by certain new innovative religious and theological streams in Western Europe of the time. After describing the epic poem, its themes and viewpoints, the author determines some general characteristics of style and periodisation of classicism in European and Croatian literature, and discusses its poetic framework. Since Dražić`s epic synthesises elements of baroque Dubrovnik (religious epic) and academic classicism (rationally founded and systematically elaborated discussion on human soul), the author raises a question of possible coexistence of baroque and classicism in a single epic, since these two styles are usually deemed as antagonistic. The author also emphasises that Dražić was the first poet to wilfully implement the literary culture of Dubrovnik in his work, hence starting the process of establishing that literature as supraregional and canonical at the same time for all future literary works
