STRUCTURAL NMR AND AB INITIO STUDY OF SALICYLHYDROXAMIC AND P-HYDROXAMIC ACIDS: EVIDENCE FOR AN EXTENDED AGGREGATION
BIOMASS AND NUTRIENT IN AN Hovenia dulcis Thunb. STAND AT FEPAGRO FLORESTAS, SANTA MARIA, RS
This study had as objective to estimate the above ground biomass production and the percentage distribution of its components and nutritious amount in an 18-year-old-Hovenia dulcis stand planted in Foundation of Agricultural Research (FEPAGRO), Santa Maria, RS. Through the sampling of four randomized plots, trees were distributed in four diametric classes, with size of 5,75 cm, in which the upper and the lower limit trees were cut down, as well at the medium limit trees. Considering the model lny = b0+b1.ln DAP+b2.ln h, and using 12 trees, the biomass from different components of the trees was estimated. The estimated biomass was 181.6 Mg ha-1, being distributed in the following order: wood 68.6%, branches 15.5%, bark 11.2% and leaf 4.7%. The leaves showed higher contents of N, Ca and Mg (23.0; 29.7 e 5.4 g kg-1, respectively) and the wood showed the lower contents (2,0; 1,3 e 0,6 g kg-1, respectively). The bark (0,5 e 3,6 g kg-1) got higher indexes of P and K, and the leaves (0,18 e 0,70 g kg-1, respectively) the lower indexes. The amount of N, P, K and Mg was higher in the wood due to its huge biomass. The bark showed a higher amount of Ca, 500.8 kg ha-1. Based on this, the wood harvest should be prioritized, considering the other fractions being in the system and cycling its nutrients for later rotations.</p
Cultural Branding in the Early Modern Period: The Literary Author
The early modern commercial book market was the cradle of authorial branding. Authors and publishers increasingly explored the construction of authorial brands: a set of recurring and recognizable characteristics associated with authorial images. This chapter looks at branding in the context of the media landscape of the early modern Dutch Republic. Authorial branding developed over time in conjunction with new conceptions of the individual, technological innovations, and the changing role of – amongst others – patrons and publishers. Analyses of the branding of Jan Jansz. Starter (1593-1626) and Sara Maria van der Wilp (1716-1803) illustrate how the non-formalized, dynamic constellation of the literary f ield inspired various agents to create a range of (multifaceted) author brands on the spectrum ‘economic-symbolic’
Design and Assessment of Random Access Procedures Supporting Massive Connectivity and Low-Delay and High-Reliability Services in 5G
5G networks are expected to be used in many markets, one of which is the Factories of the Future (FoF). In the FoF, applications like regular monitoring and controlling of components (e.g. temperature) are introducing the need of massive deployment of sensors and actuators. Additionally, sensors which are monitoring time-critical components of the factory (e.g. pressure in power plants) should experience low delays with a high reliability. The current LTE-based technology for machine-type communications, namely Cat-M1, imposes limitations in supporting massive connectivity and application with low delay and high reliability requirements, primarily due to the so-called ‘Random Access’ (RA) procedure which is used by the devices to establish a connection with the base station, before the actual transmission of their data. The key objectives of this study are to assess the RA procedure currently used in Cat-M1 networks as a baseline, and furthermore design and evaluate a new RA procedure for 5G networks, which targets typical FoF applications and their requirements. Based on the simulation assessment of the procedures studied, it was found that the so-called ‘Two-Step RA procedure’ is performing the best regarding end-to-end delay. Specifically, it was found that e.g. in a FoF network with 3000 devices an end-to-end delay of 16 ms can be achieved with 99.99% reliability, introducing a gain of 64 ms compared to the end-to-end delay in Cat-M1 networks

This study investigated the use of non-commercial peroxidases extracted from by-products of agro-industrial activities (rice and soy bran) in the discoloration of a
synthetic effluent, which used a textile dye in its composition. To this, the enzymes
were subjected to contact with the effluent in an orbital shaker using different
conditions in order to evaluate the optimum concentration of hydrogen peroxide
(H2O2) and the optimum volume of enzymatic extract for the discoloration reaction, by
the use of experimental design methodology. It was necessary to add H2O2 to start
the discoloration reaction because the enzyme peroxidase depends on H2O2 to
become active. The use of peroxidase enzyme extracted from rice bran (AT: 27.25
U/mL) when in contact with the synthetic effluent resulted in approximately 46% color
removal when larger volumes of enzyme extract (15 mL) in smaller concentrations of
H2O2 (20 and 40 mg/L) were used in 5h reaction. For the peroxidase extracted from
soybean bran, satisfactory results were not obtained for the discoloration of the
synthetic effluent. From the obtained results, other parameters of the synthetic
effluent were also analyzed in order to investigate the changes that occurred in it due
to the enzymatic treatment. It was possible to observe at the end of the process, that
besides color removal, the temperature was in the environment range (25?C), pH of
around 7, the turbidity was reduced by approximately 36%, total and fixed solids
were found in lesser amounts and the residual H2O2 concentration was only 0.5
mg/L. The data from this study suggest that the peroxidase enzyme obtained from a
non-commercial source (rice bran) has potential in effluents discoloration, since its
obtaining process is easy and economically viable when compared to its commercial
source. In this context, the study is extremely relevant, since due to the high cost of
commercial enzymes, more and more it is necessary to discover other cheaper
enzyme sources, which might be promising alternatives to conventional wastewater
do efluente sint?tico.

Where are you? Father? Who are you? Amongst power and desire relations, daughters and sons search for the father. Based on the epistolary form and using as reference Letter to his father (1919) by Franz Kafka, I wrote a series of four letters to think about the father and the fatherhood. And about my own father. These letters are written from my perspective as a daughter-author-researcher in dialogue with other daughters and other sons. For a genealogy of fatherhood elaborated by the children. Besides Kafka, there is a dialogue with Sibylle Lacan, Jacques Lacan?s daughter. From Foucault?s analytics of power comes the foundation for the first part of the letters, that is focused on the power relations - in the binomial presences-absences. Therefore I appeal to a research about the history of western fatherhood and the social and cultural history of family in Brazil, in order to delimitate where the father is (not) and what is his social function within the family. For the second part, I ask myself who is the father?, among desire relations, and for that I call on the psychoanalytical theories of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan. The investigation on the father, since Oedipus complex, the father Urvater, from Totem and Taboo (1913), and the guide-father from Moses and monotheism (1939), passes through all of Freud?s body of work, once the original parricide presents itself as fundamental in the constitution of subjectivity. The return to freudian psychoanalysis made by Jacques Lacan transcends the Oedipus complex, rewrites the theory and reaches a pluralization of Names-of-the-father. In the third part are the theoretic-critic analysis of six contemporary brazilian novels. The dialogue among the autodiegetic son(s) narrator(s) in Lavoura Arcaica (1975), by Raduan Nassar, Reuni?o de Fam?lia (1982), by Lya Luft, and Ribamar (2010), by Jos? Castello, happens as in Kafka?s sons: through power relations. The dialogue among the daughters, the autodiegetic narrators in Mar Azul (2012), by Paloma Vidal and Enquanto Deus n?o est? olhando (2014), by D?bora Ferraz, happens as for Sibylle Lacan: through desire relations. In the space between power and desire relations, between presences and absences, are other affective subjectivities for other fathers and other families, as seen in the novel Azul-corvo (2010), by Adriana Lisboa. The last letter is a letter to my father. In this space of between are also the Notes to [my] father and the gathering of my lost letters. Father? Receive my letters. The letters are for you, father. From your daughter.Le P?re? O? Pai? Receba as minhas cartas. As cartas s?o para voc?, pai. Previous issue date: 2012-12-20The country needs a Judicial Branch that makes its decisions effective. That is the main concern and the ground from which this doctoral thesis stems, which thesis studied some of the major cases heard by the Supreme Court of the United States of America and the reason why, in one of the most controversial decisions in the Court s history, said court resolved to, via a series of measures, carry out a decision which apparently lacked the grounds to be actualized. It is the case Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, in which the Court, by breaking the hundred year-old cultural paradigm of a doctrine called separate but equal, authorized a black girl to attend a public school for whites as their equal. The decision by itself would have languished on the shelves of court files had not the Supreme Court, in this case, designed a more activist system in which the judge is authorized to carry out a court decision. From that standpoint and to design a potential Brazilian system, this thesis brings the ideas of Yale University professor Owen Fiss, who first used the term structural reform to refer to that type of judicial activism. It then becomes clear that this thesis turns to comparative law for a solution, and takes from the North-American doctrine a concept we believe can be implemented in Brazil. Next, the author discusses a few Brazilian Federal Supreme Court decisions which should resort to the doctrine addressed herein. In addition to that, the author states that structural reform cannot be carried out regarding every single case but solely with respect to those decisions whose elements somehow break the cultural paradigm existing in society, and it may step into legislative and even executive roles as there is a democratic foundation for such purpose, as is also advocated in laborO pa?s precisa de um Poder Judici?rio que efetive suas decis?es.
This paper focuses on the analysis of the literary work Meu pé de laranja lima, in which the author José Mauro de Vasconcelos relates his own childhood through a child character. In the plot, however, there is the author’s alleviation and seeking for the recognition of readers, which according to autobiography theorist Philippe Lejeune (2008) configures the autobiographical pact that is given by the relationship between author, narrator and character. The confessional literature holds confessions and secrets of the authors; Maria Luíza Remédios (1997) explains that the public is interested in confessional literature because we have the tendency to identify ourselves with what is close to our reality, thereby establishing a pact with the reading public. During the work, the author may assume identities or self-sense, and in José Mauro’s case it is supposed he saw writing as an option for alleviation, by recalling his childhood and freeing himself from the past. Therefore, we confirm that this literary work is an autobiographical writing, and understand what the autobiographer looks for in writing about himself, and that this newest genre of writing is widely accepted by the public.
