Full text linkPartigiana, internata nel campo di Bolzano, impegnata nel PCI, eletta nel Consiglio Provinciale, Regionale e in Parlamento, Laura Conti (Udine 1921 - Milano 1993) fu tra i promotori della Lega per l’Ambiente e successivamente Presidente del Comitato scientifico di Legambiente. Dopo l’incidente di Seveso, l’ecologia e la difesa della salute e del diritto di sapere della gente furono il cuore del suo lavoro politico nell’Associazione, nel Partito, nelle Istituzioni. Parlava e scriveva di scienza in modo rigoroso e chiaro a tutti, adulti e bambini. Grande divulgatrice, ma non solo; rielaborava le tematiche biologiche ed ecologiche, con un suo contributo originale, accompagnando i saggi politici o scientifici con i romanzi, dove elaborava le emozioni della sua ricchezza percettiva di donna.Partisan, interned in the Bolzano lager, engaged in the PCI, elected in the Provincial, and Regional Council and member of Parliament, Laura Conti (Udine 1921-Milan 1993) was among the promoters of the Lega per l’Ambiente and later President of the Scientific Committee of Legambiente. After the accident in Seveso, the ecology and the defense of the health and the right to know of the people were the heart of its political work in the Association, in the Party, in the Institutions. She spoke and wrote about science in a rigorous and clear way to all, adults and children. Great populator, but not only; she reworked the biological and ecological themes, with an original contribution, accompanying the political or scientific essays with the novels, where she elaborated the emotions of her perceptive richness as a woman

No full textCon il presente contributo inauguriamo una nuova sezione della Rivista dedicata al «recupero» del pensiero di autori «del passato» che possiamo considerare dei precursori per la loro attenzione a temi e a questioni che continuano ad essere di attualità nel campo della pedagogia e della didattica. A partire dal nostro pre-sente, segnato dalla pandemia Covid-19, vogliamo dedicare l’articolo a Laura Conti, il cui pensiero e la cui opera sono quanto mai oggi di attualità. Recuperare nel centenario della sua nascita la figura di questa stra-ordinaria donna, partigiana, medico, ambientalista, politica, divulgatrice scientifica e scrittrice è non solo un atto dovuto ma un’azione (politica) che si lega indissolubilmente a una visione inclusiva della nostra società, al desiderio di un cambio di paradigma (quale dovrebbe essere l’inclusione se non la vogliamo rendere una formula bella ma vuota)With this paper, we are launching a new section of the journal dedicated to «returning» to the thoughts of «past» authors, whom we can consider pioneers for their attention to topics and issues that continue to be relevant in the fields of pedagogy and didactics. Starting with our current situation, marred by the Covid-19 pandemic, we would like to dedicate this article to Laura Conti, whose thoughts and work are as topical as ever. Returning to the figure of this extraordinary woman, partisan, doctor, environmentalist, politician, scientific journalist and writer in the centenary of her birth is not only an obligation but a (political) act that is inextricably linked to an inclusive vision of our society, to the desire for a change of paradigm (which should be inclusion if we do not wish to reduce it simply to an elegant yet empty formula)

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Full text linkWhat is a narrative agent and what are the political effects of a material narrative? This essay addresses such issues by considering the case of Italy’s first big ecological disaster, occurred in Seveso in 1976. A cloud of dioxin burst out from an industrial site, poisoning people and territory, killing livestock and domestic animals, causing miscarriages and fetal malformations, and producing strong political and ideological polemics over women, their bodies, and their right to self-determination. Laura Conti, scientist, writer, and environmental activist, witnessed and narrated the catastrophe in both its ecological and political dimensions. Analyzing her works, and focusing on dioxin as a "posthuman narrative agent," namely, as a revealing agent that interlaces both materiality and its discursive reverberations, I reflect on how feminist ecocriticism may act as an epistemological tool for an ethics and politics of liberation. This study situates itself in the broader horizon of a feminist theory of material ecocriticism, one that investigates the representations of the body, of inter- and trans-corporeality, multiple causality, complexity and agentic entanglements of matter and discourse
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
