    L-infinity structures on mapping cones

    No full text
We show that the mapping cone of a morphism of differential graded Lie algebras, chi : L -> M, can be canonically endowed with an L-infinity-algebra structure which at the same time lifts the Lie algebra structure on L and the usual differential on the mapping cone. Moreover, this structure is unique up to isomorphisms of L-infinity-algebras

    (a)-Topics and animacy

The aim of this paper is twofold: first, we intend to contribute to the debate on the identification of the features to which syntactic locality expressed in terms of the featural Relativized Minimality/ fRM principle appears to be sensitive (Rizzi 2004; Friedmann, Belletti & Rizzi 2009); second, we aim at providing a better characterization of the distributional and interpretive properties of the process of a-marking in the Topic position of the Italian left periphery identified by syntactic cartography, in relation to (in)animacy (Belletti & Manetti 2019). To these ends, we examined the role of animacy in a production experiment eliciting left dislocated topics with 5-year-old Italian-speaking children. To the extent that a-marking is related to a kind of affectedness of object topics (Belletti 2018a), we examined whether an inanimate left dislocated object could constitute a felicitous a-Topic. Furthermore, the question is directly addressed whether complexity effects in fRM configurations can be modulated in the animacy mismatch condition, with an inanimate left dislocated object and an intervening (animate) lexical subject in ClLDs. Our results show that, in the tested animacy mismatch condition, children seldom a-marked the pre-posed object. Instead, they appeared to creatively explore other solutions to overcome the production of the hard intervention structure, mainly using null subjects. As children are not ready to compute the intervention configuration with a lexical preverbal subject, but could not naturally adjust it through a-marking of the inanimate topic, they ended up opting for different types of productions in which intervention was eliminated. If the animacy feature seems to be implicated in the process of a-marking to some extent, it is not a feature to which the fRM principle is sensitive in building the object A’-dependency in ClLD: we conclude, in line with previous work, that animacy is not among the features implicated in triggering syntactic movement (in Italian). © 2021 The Author(s)

Connections and L∞ liftings of semiregularity maps

Let E⁎ be a finite complex of locally free sheaves on a complex manifold X. We prove that to every connection of type (1,0) on E⁎ it is canonically associated an L∞ morphism [Formula presented] that lifts the 1-component of the Buchweitz-Flenner semiregularity map. An application to deformations of coherent sheaves on projective manifolds is given

Giannozzo Manetti,"Historia Pistoriensis": edizione critica, introduzione e commento

    No full text

Climate variability, soil aridity, and growth rate of Pinus pinea L. in Castelporziano forest: an exploratory data analysis

Sensitivity to climate change and anthropogenic disturbance is a typical feature of Mediterranean forests growing under dynamic and manipulated environmental conditions. In the present study, a large sample of stone pines (Pinus pinea L.) was analyzed in five sites of Castelporziano and Castelfusano forests (Rome, central Italy) to assess tree-growth variability (1964–2009) with the aim to derive information on long-term climatic trends possibly reflected in the radial growth response. The multivariate exploratory analysis of tree ring widths, which were standardized to remove the age trend, showed a marked spatial variability among sites and a heterogeneous time pattern that allows for the classification of the investigated years into three homogeneous groups: 1964–1974, 1975–1997, and 1998–2009. The years 1975 and 1998 were identified as the candidate break points in the local climate regime. Coherence of the 1998 break point was verified by comparing two time intervals (1981–1997 and 1998–2011) of the meteorological time series of precipitation and temperatures available for Castelporziano station. Results indicate a significant shift toward aridity and warming in the area supporting the information obtained from the analysis of dendro-chronological time series. Implications of the spatio-temporal monitoring of climate variations through indirect sources are discussed in the light of conservation of the residual pristine forest of Castelporziano taken as a paradigmatic example for other Mediterranean coastal forests

On some formality criteria for DG-Lie algebras

    No full text
We give some formality criteria for a differential graded Lie algebra to be formal. For instance, we show that a DG-Lie algebra LL is formal if and only if the natural spectral sequence computing the Chevalley-Eilenberg cohomology HCE(L,L)H^*_{CE}(L,L) degenerates at $E_2

The Author criticises the practices adopted by Italian Chambers in the wake of the majoritarian turn. Besides, she higlights that the Court’s activism in this regard has been increasingly abandoned to protect the Assemblies from rising populism
