Effect of dietary protein and amino acids on the performance, carcass composition and N-excretion of growing rabbits
No full textA total of 234 weanlings (32-day-old) were fed during 6 weeks ad libitum one of six diets, produced after progressively blending a high protein mixture with a low protein mixture, in order to obtain a series of six iso-energetic (10.4 MJ DE/kg) diets with linear decreasing protein content between 170.1 g and 137.5 g kg-1. Lysine, methionine + cystine and threonine were at 1.45 times their assumed requirement in the high protein mix to avoid deficiencies of these amino acids in the experimental diets. The significant interaction (P < 0.001) between type of diet and weekly weight gain demonstrated an age-dependent response to the dietary protein content. A protein level below 157 g kg-1 resulted in a significant lower growth rate and feed intake during the first 3 weeks post weaning. However, during the finishing period (last 2 weeks) weight gain on low protein diets (< 151 g kg-1) exceeded (P < 0.05) that of the high protein diets. Comparative slaughter techniques revealed a significant increased N-retention with increasing dietary protein dilution (from 33.9 to 41.3% of intake). N-excretion was reduced by 38% on the lowest protein diet compared to the rabbits fed the highest protein diet. However, their growth rate was 9% lower. Empty body composition showed a significant increased fat content as the protein content of the diet decreased related to the changed protein-energy ratio. Dressing out percentage was unaffected by the dietary treatment. The results suggest that dietary protein and amino acid levels of growing rabbits have to be considered into different age periods, in order to match them better with the requirements. An important reduction of the N-excretion could then be achieved without altering the performances

Student Academic Engagement and Success Survey - Pilot Data
No full textProject description: This two-year research project, funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences (funding number: IMLS LG-252338-OLS-22), develops assessment tools to capture the undergraduate students’ academic engagement including library use, psychological factors, and their own academic success. It explores how students define success, the library’s role in their achievement, and factors correlating with GPA.The Student Academic Engagement and Success (SAES) Survey was developed and tested during the Year 1 pilot phase at UIC in Spring 2023. The SAES survey, a one-time survey conducted in Jan–Feb with a 25% random undergraduate sample (N = 4,870), received 426 responses.Required software: SPSS or ExcelDownloads: Datasets (SPSS, and Excel), codebooks Note: The datasets are currently under embargo. Identifikasi Heritage Tree pada Jalur De Groote Postweg di Kota Bogor
No full textKota Bogor merupakan salah satu kota yang tergabung dalam Jaringan Kota Pusaka Indonesia (JKPI) dalam Program Penataan dan Pelestarian Kota Pusaka (P3KP) yang bertujuan mempertahankan aset pusaka dan karakter kota pusaka. Aset pusaka Kota Bogor tidak terlepas dari sejarah De Groote Postweg pada masa kolonial. Tidak hanya elemen fisik bentukan manusia dan tata guna lahanpada Jalur De Groote Postweg, tetapi juga elemen alami berupa pohon. Studi ini bertujuan untuk memetakan dan mengklasifikasikan pohon yang diduga sebagai heritage tree; mengidentifikasi pohon berdasarkan aspek fisik, aspek sejarah, dan aspek lanskap; dan menyusun rekomendasi dalam pelestarian heritage tree dan penguatan karakter lanskap pada Jalur De Groote Postwegdi Kota Bogor. Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa pohon yang diduga sebagai heritage tree sebanyak 281 pohon dari 17 spesies pohon serta termasuk 8 famili. Spesies pohon dengan jumlah terbanyak yang diduga sebagai heritage tree adalah pohon kenari (Canarium commune L.) sebanyak 220 pohon. Pendugaan umur pohon kenari (Canarium commune L.) dengan rentang 50-75 tahun sebanyak 80 pohon, rentang 75-100 tahun sebanyak 62 pohon, rentang 100-200 tahun sebanyak 71 pohon, dan rentang > 200 tahun sebanyak 7 pohon. Spesies pohon lainya dengan rentang umur > 200 tahun didominasi oleh famili Moraceae yang terdiri atas banyan (Ficus virens Aiton), beringin (Ficus benjamina L.), beringin karet (Ficus elastica Roxb.), dan Ficus crassipes (Ficus crassipes F.M. Bailey). Rekomendasi yang diusulkan dalam pelestarian heritage treedan penguatan karakter lanskap pada Jalur De Groote Postweg di Kota Bogor dibagi menjadi tiga bagian, yaitu pemeliharaan heritage tree, perbaikan lingkungan tumbuh, dan penguatan karakteristik lanskap. Dalam pemeliharaan heritage tree, seluruh pohon terutama pohon kenari (Canarium commune L.) harus dipelihara berdasarkan jenis dan tingkat kerusakannya. Perbaikan lingkungan tumbuh dapat dilakukan pada kondisi yang tidak menguntungkan terutama untuk struktur akar, ruang tumbuh akar, struktur jalan, dan dilanjutkan dengan penanaman pohon sejenis seperti pohon kenari (Canarium commune L.) pada ruang yang kosong. Penguatan karakterisik lanskap pada Jalur De Groote Postwegdi Kota Bogor dapat mengunakan papan interpretasi atau elemen lain yang dapat membantu mengenali pohon-pohon pusaka dan nuansa lanskap pusaka
