Hyun Kwon
Today I had the wonderful opportunity to discover more of the story of one of our faculty, Hyun Kwon, chair of the Department of Engineering & Computer Science. The conversation left me inspired, reminding me yet again of the amazing faculty who work at Andrews University.
Hyun was born as a second child among three siblings in South Korea. Her father was a police office, her mom a full-time mom. She was a high achiever academically and after attending an elite science track high school, she continued to the prestigious Korean Advanced Institute of Technology (KAIST) with a full governmental scholarship. She chose engineering to study because in that area math and science are applied to bring positive change to society.
It was while pursuing her PhD at KAIST that Hyun visited the U.S. and it so impressed her that she decided she wanted to come and live here at some point. It happened sooner than she expected; Hyun transferred and was soon on her way to complete her PhD at the University of Louisville.
Up to that time in her life Hyun had been focused on academic and professional success. She never had many Christian friends in her circle in Korea and still thinks that if she had stayed in Korea her ego would have become so big she would not have needed God! And so started her Exodus experience: Leaving her country, crossing the ocean and facing difficulties that come with that kind of transition.

Multi-sensor Fault Detection and Isolation for EMB System Based on Unknown Input Observer
Electro-mechanical brake (EMB) systems generate the braking force with electric motors and use several sensors for feedback control. This paper presents a model-based sensor fault diagnostic approach that employs an Unknown Input Observer (UIO) technique to classify sensors as being healthy or unhealthy and even simultaneously occurred faults in two different sensors. The proposed scheme is organized by UIO logic and a decision-making unit. UIO logic estimates sensor values using the inputs and outputs of EMB system and a decision-making unit identifies the faulty sensor based on a deterministic rule and the estimated ones from UIO logic. Unlike other model-based fault detection and isolation schemes, the proposed one needs only one UIO instead of a bank of observers and UIOI is sufficient for detecting and isolating faults simultaneously occurred. Simulation results are presented to verify the effectiveness of this proposed diagnostic approach.1

학위논문(석사)--아주대학교 IT융합대학원 :IT융합공학과,2014. 8이동통신 시스템에서 데이터 트래픽 증가는 입력 신호의 PAPR(Peak to Average Power Ratio) 값의 증가를 가져왔다. 시스템 전력 소모의 70%를 차지하는 전력 증폭기의 효율 개선은 매우 중요한 핵심 기술이다. 전력 증폭기의 선형 특성 개선을 위해 디지털 전치왜곡 기술을 사용하였으며, 전력 증폭기의 효율 개선을 위해 Asymmetric Doherty 방식을 사용하였다. 본 논문에서는 기존 Asymmetric Doherty 구조와 다른 새로운 구조의 Asymmetric Doherty 구조를 제안한다. 전력 증폭기 drive 단을 main path와 peak path로 분리하였으며, phase shifter를 이용하여 Doherty 증폭기의 전력 결합 특성을 개선하였다. 또한 drive 단 peak 증폭기 gate bais에 대한 envelope tracking 기술을 적용하여 효율을 개선하였다.제 1 장 서 론 1

학위논문(석사)--아주대학교 공학대학원 :기계공학과,2015. 2발전소 폐수 이송계통은 소내 모든 건물에서 발생한 폐수를 폐수처리시설로 이송하는 계통이며, 환경법에 따른 폐수 발생량 측정을 위해 모든 집수조 펌프로부터 유량계가 설치된 1개의 공통배관을 통과하도록 설계되어 있다.
펌프의 양정설계시 펌프로부터 목표지점까지 필요유량을 이송하는 과정에서의 수두손실을 고려하여 펌프의 양정(TDH)을 설계하지만, 불규칙적인 유량의 변화에 따라 수두손실 역시 변경되므로 적정 펌프 사양 설계가 어려운 문제점이 있다.
본 논문에서는 불규칙적인 유량 변화에 의해 펌프의 운전점이 과도하게 변화되는 문제점을 해결하기 위해 압력조정밸브를 설치하여 펌프에 일정 이상의 압력이 작용하도록 하였다.
AFT Fathom 프로그램을 이용한 분석 결과 압력조정밸브 설치를 통해 가정할 수 있는 모든 운전범위에서 거의 동일한 운전점으로 펌프가 기동됨을 확인하였다.1. 서 론 1

It seeks to explicate how a cultural policy project can stimulate the emergence of social groups, which challenge existing policy provisions and laws and lead to the (re)institutionalisation of "Hong-dae culture". Design and Implementation for the Electronic Parking Brake System Based on Operating System
Electronic Parking Brake(EPB) system is operated by Electronic Control unit(ECU). EPB system has been by replaced a traditional parking brake system, which is a mechanical device to be driven by a parking brake lever or foot pedal. EPB system is more convenient for the women and elderly. Interior design as well as space utilization has also been important recently. By using EPB system, it is possible to ensure more space in a vehicle. Also, EPB system provides better convenience and safety than the traditional system through the cooperative control of Electric Stability Program(ESP) or alone.
