The Benefits of Being Economics Professor A (and not Z)
Alphabetic name ordering on multi-authored academic papers, which is the convention in the economics discipline and various other disciplines, is to the advantage of people whose last name initials are placed early in the alphabet. As it turns out, Professor A, who has been a first author more often than Professor Z, will have published more articles and experienced afaster growth rate over the course of her career as a result of reputation and visibility. Moreover, authors know that name ordering matters and indeed take ordering seriously: Several characteristics of an author group composition determine the decision to deviate from the default alphabetic name order to a significant extent.performance measurement, incentives, economists, name ordering
Final word on Jersey Dutch
In this article, William Z. Shetter compares and contrasts the dialects that developed between different Dutch colonies in the New World. He explores in-depth the nuances of Jersey Dutch, and provides theories to explain how Dutch and colonial languages blended. The article is reprinted from American Speech, December 1958, Volum XXXIII, No. 4
Dziennik z Grasse Galiny Kuzniecowej — autoportret pisarki
Grasse Diary (Грасский дневник, 1967), the most famous work by Galina Kuznetsova, for years has been treated mostly as the book about Ivan Bunin. It contains heraccount of fifteen years spent with Bunin in Grasse and Paris, wherefore it has beenattracted particular interest of Bunin’s researchers.Bunin is the central figure of Grasse Diary, yet Kuznetsova, according to Lejeune’s„autobiographical pact”, remains the author, the narrator of her story and characterwho is being talked about. Discrete entries include her experiences, thoughts, feelings, comment on current events. Kuznetsova creates the self-portrait, presentsa deeply subjective vision of the world. Some equal strategies can be found in hernarration: an observer strategy, participant strategy and introspection strategy. The aim of this paper is to analyse them and to interpretate Kuznetsova’s imagegiven in her daily entries
New aspects of the Z Z-graded 1D superspace: induced strings and 2D relativistic models
A novel feature of the -graded
supersymmetry which finds no counterpart in ordinary supersymmetry is the
presence of -graded exotic bosons (implied by the existence of two classes
of parafermions). Their interpretation, both physical and mathematical,
presents a challenge. The role of the "exotic bosonic coordinate" was not
considered by previous works on the one-dimensional -graded superspace (which was restricted to produce
point-particle models). By treating this coordinate at par with the other
graded superspace coordinates new consequences are obtained. The graded
superspace calculus of the -graded worldline
super-Poincar\'e algebra induces two-dimensional -graded relativistic models; they are invariant under a new -graded super-Poincar\'e algebra which differs
from the previous two -graded versions
of super-Poincar\'e introduced in the literature. In this new superalgebra the
second translation generator and the Lorentz boost are -graded.
Furthermore, if the exotic coordinate is compactified on a circle ,
a -graded closed string with periodic
boundary conditions is derived. The analysis of the irreducibility conditions
of the supermultiplet implies that a larger -deformed, where
is a real parameter) class of point-particle models than the ones
discussed so far in the literature (recovered at ) is obtained. While
the spectrum of the point-particle models is degenerate (due to its
relation with an supersymmetry), this is no longer the case for
the models.Comment: 28 page

Abstract
In the context of water - salt load with 0,5% NaCl the osmoregulatory renal function state in 28 patients with type 1 diabetes.
It is shown that as the GFR declines to 60 ml \ min the diuresis and % of the discharged liquid increases from 176 ml and 46.1% to 213 ml and 59.5%, while the relative density of urine and osmolality, conversely, decreases. A direct relationship was observed between diuresis and excretion of osmotically active substances (correlation coefficient 0.76 - 0.91), between excretion of osmotically active substances and % of the discharged liquid (0.8 - 0.91), between the relative density and urine osmolality (0.85 - 0.9), between excretion of osmotically active substances (OAS) and glycosuria: thus, maximum excretion of OAS of 224.1 and 345 mOsmol \ hour was combined with glycosuria of 210 and 220 mmol/l.
In most of cases (96.4%), glomerular filtration rate averagely increased 2-fold in patients with diabetes 1 type under water - salt stress, rising from 36.9 to 322.5 ml \ min, and renal functional reserve ranged from 36.9 to 439.6%. However, a direct relationship between the RFR and urine osmolality, as well as with an osmotically active substances excretion, was not found.
Thus, in type 1 diabetes osmoregulatory renal disorders depend both on the reduction in GFR to 60 ml \ min and on changes in the functional capacity of nephron`s tubules.
Key words: diabetes mellitus type 1, osmoregulatory function state of kidneys, water- salt load, excretion of osmotically active substances, renal functional reserve.
Kuznetsova E. S., Kuznetsova E. Classification of minimal -graded Lie (super)algebras and some applications
This paper presents the classification, over the fields of real and complex numbers, of the minimal -graded Lie algebras and Lie superalgebras spanned by generators and with no empty graded sector. The inequivalent graded Lie (super)algebras are obtained by solving the constraints imposed by the respective graded Jacobi identities.\parA motivation for this mathematical result is to systematically investigate the properties of dynamical systems invariant undergraded (super)algebras. Recent works only paid attention to the special case of the one-dimensional -graded Poincar\'e superalgebra. \parAs applications, we are able to extend certain constructions originally introduced for this special superalgebra to other listed -graded (super)algebras. We mention, in particular, the notion of -graded superspace and of invariant dynamical systems (both classical worldline sigma models and a quantum Hamiltonian).\parAs a further byproduct we point out that, contrary to -graded superalgebras, a theory invariant under a -graded algebra implies the presence of ordinary bosons and three different types of exotic bosons, with exotic bosons of different types anticommuting among themselves
The Poetry of Galina Kuznetsova in the Context of Ivan Bunin’s Writing (the Thematic Aspect)
Galina Kuznetsova was a Russian writer, poet and memorialist who belonged to the younger generation of the Russian Emigration (the first wave). Her most famous work is the so-called “Grasse Diary”. Kuznetsova’s place in the literature of the Russian emigration was determined by her liaison with Ivan Bunin. The present paper brings an analysis of certain motifs in Kuznetsova’s poetry (homeland, death, love) precisely in the context of Bunin’s poetry.
Logarithmic variance profiles and the corresponding f-1 spectra of temperature fluctuations in turbulent Rayleigh-Bénard convection
We report experimental results for the temperature variance 2(z) and the corresponding frequency spectra P(f) in turbulent Rayleigh-Bénard convection (RBC) in a cylindrical sample of aspect ratioT= D/L = 1:00 (D = 1:12 m is the diameter and L = 1:12 m the height). The measurements were conducted in the Rayleigh-number range 1011 < Ra < 1:35 1014 and Pr ' 0:8. For Ra = 1:35x1014, 2(z) could be described well by a logarithmic dependence on the vertical position z in a range of z 1 < z < z 2 with z 1 ' 70 and z 2 = 0:1L. Here L=(2Nu) is the thickness of a thin thermal sublayer adjacent to the horizontal plate where the heat flux (denoted by the Nusselt number Nu) is carried mostly by thermal diffusion. In the log layer, we found that the temperature spectra had a significant frequency range over which P(f) f with close to 1. As Ra decreased, increased so that the log layer became thinner. At Ra = 2:05 1011, z 2 < z 1 and therefore there was no range for a log layer. Correspondingly, the temperature spectrum near the horizontal plate did not have the f1 scaling form either
Statistics of the subgrid scales after the shock-turbulence interaction
The interaction of a normal shock with isotropic turbulence (IT) represents a basic problem for studying some of the phenomena associated with high speed flows, such as hypersonic flight, supersonic combustion and Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF). In general, in practical applications, the shock width is much smaller than the turbulence scales and the upstream turbulent Mach number is modest. In this case, recent high resolution shock-resolved Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS) (Ryu and Livescu, J. Fluid Mech., 756, R1, 2014) show that the interaction can be described by the Linear Interaction Approximation (LIA). By using LIA to alleviate the need to solve the shock, DNS post-shock data can be generated at much higher Reynolds numbers than previously possible. Here, such results with Taylor Reynolds number around are used to investigate the properties of the subgrid scales (SGS). In particular, it is shown that the shock interaction decreases the asymmetry of the SGS dissipation PDF as the shock Mach number increases, with a significant enhancement in size of the regions and magnitude of backscatter
