Get PDFBorn in October 1949, Professor Olga Palagia has been one of the main experts in Ancient Greek Sculpture for almost half a century. Once she obtained her Degree in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, she moved to Oxford to write her PhD in Classical Archaeology in 1977. After a brief lapse of years working as research assistant in the Acropolis Museum of Athens, she became Lecturer in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where she developed her whole academic career. Author of a huge amount of research on Greek sculpture, from handbooks to papers, her voice has been one of the most respected and authoritative concerning this field. Likewise, she has made excellent and invaluable contributions to our knowledge of the Argead society, art and culture.Nacida en octubre de 1949, la profesora Olga Palagia ha sido una de las principales expertas en escultura griega antigua durante casi medio siglo. Tras obtener su licenciatura en la Universidad Nacional y Kapodistria de Atenas, se trasladó a Oxford para realizar su doctorado en Arqueología Clásica en 1977. Tras un breve periodo trabajando como asistente de investigación en el Museo de la Acrópolis de Atenas, se convirtió en profesora de la Universidad Nacional y Kapodistria de Atenas, donde desarrolló toda su carrera académica. Autora de una gran cantidad de investigaciones sobre la escultura griega, desde manuales hasta artículos, su obra ha sido una de las más respetadas y autorizadas en este campo. 'Botanical Confusion' and the Strangeness of Language in Two Works by Olga Grushin
No full textThis article considers translingual and transcultural aspects of two works by the Russian-American author Olga Grushin: the essay “In the Shade of a Cranberry Tree” (2004) and the novel The Line (2010). The analysis exam- ines ways in which Grushin’s writing moves between linguistic, literary and cultural contexts, mixing and ultimately transcending them in origi- nal ways. The article argues that translingual and transcultural elements in Grushin’s texts serve to highlight language as a creative medium, to debunk cultural stereotypes and to integrate literary traditions.</p
La poesía de Olga Orozco o la contemporánea conciencia de Job
Get PDFEl present article proposa una lectura de l'obra poètica d'una important autora hispanoamericana contemporània i, més concretament, argentina: Olga Orozco. Des d'una perspectiva nova, que imbrica poesia i coneixement a través del relat de Job ⎯es dir, des dels pollegueres de Déu i el Mal radical, i el controvertit dilema de l'justicia⎯, es planteja una lectura de la poètica orozquiana considerant la seva arrel surrealista, la seva utòpica pugna amb el llenguatge o l'establiment d'aquesta consciència de caiguda que es troba a la medul·la de la seva obra poètica. Per mitjà de diferents poemes on es realitza un continu balanç i un impossible equilibri, es mostra com la poesia d'Orozco està tan travessada per l'afany de l'analogia com pel pes de l'existència, el pas del temps o la consciència de mort.This article proposes a reading of the poetry of an important contemporary Latin American author and, more specifically, an Argentine author: Olga Orozco. From a new perspective, which interweaves poetry and knowledge through the story of Job—that is, from the threshold of God and radical Evil, and the controversial dilemma of justice—a reading of Orozco’s poetry arises by considering its surreal roots, its utopian struggle with language or establishing that awareness of a fall which is in the marrow of her poetic works. Through various poems where a continuous balance and an impossible equilibrium are achieved, it demonstrates how Orozco’s poetry is so penetrated by its thirst for analogy, by the weight of existence, the passage of time or the awareness of death.El presente artículo propone una lectura de la obra poética de una importante autora hispanoamericana contemporánea y, más concretamente, argentina: Olga Orozco. Desde una perspectiva novedosa, que imbrica poesía y conocimiento a través del relato de Job –es decir, desde los quicios de Dios y el Mal radical, y el controvertido dilema de la justicia-, se plantea una lectura de la poética orozquiana considerando su raíz surrealista, su utópica pugna con el lenguaje o el establecimiento de esa conciencia de caída que se halla en la médula de su obra poética. Por medio de distintos poemas donde se realiza un continuo balance y un imposible equilibrio, se muestra cómo la poesía de Orozco está tan atravesada por el afán de la analogía como por el peso de la existencia, el paso del tiempo o la conciencia de muerte.
