Multicultural communities have formed in Hungary alongside the border due to dynamic processes of the social-political-historical surroundings where the necessity of ethnic identification exists. The paper presents two dance events – Serbian and Romanian Balls, that took place within this context at two localities – Szeged and Elek (South-eastern Hungary). Specific ethnic identities are performed during these Balls and the participants tend to include diverse local inhabitants regarding status, gender, age, and ethnic determinations. Grounded in empirical knowledge, the author will comparatively examine critical features of the structure, symbolic presentation, cultural mediums, and multiple meanings of two case studies of Serbian and Romanian Balls in Hungar
Srbski in romunski plesi: paradoks etnično opredeljenih plesnih dogodkov kot medija socialne vključenosti na jugovzhodu Madžarske
Dynamic social, political, and historical processes in Hungary have resulted in multicultural communities along its current border areas. Ethnic identification is often emphasized due to identity politics which highlight majority-minority relations. These tendencies have often been initiated in the political spheres, while the local social context does not recognise them in the same way today. In this paper I present two dance events, located in Szeged and Elek in South-eastern Hungary, that have an initial role of performing specific ethnic identity through multiple symbolic presentations. Investigating the realisations of these balls further, the diversity of participants narrate the inclusion of diverse local inhabitants in terms of status, gender, age, and ethnic determination
Avtorica v prispevku analizira koreološke transformacije treh belokranjskih kol (Pobelelo kole, Lepa Anka in svatsko kolo), kakor so nastale v odrskih izvedbah belokranjskih folklornih skupin.

No longer dancing for their own pleasure, dancers of traditional dances are now organized in folk dance groups. The character of traditional dances has been transformed to fit the “others”, meaning the spectators, who usually watch dances performed on stage. This modified context has in turn affected the dance itself. In the changed circumstances, dances performed onstage have to be adapted to meet the requirements of stage performance for the public. Analyzed are choreological transformations of three circle dances from Bela krajina (Pobelelo pole, Lepa Anka, and svatsko kolo), performed by folk dance groups of Bela krajina

Until recently, 78 rpm gramophone records did not attract the interest of Slovenian folkdance researchers and were not used as research sources. When studying folkdance music, the researchers mainly focused on their own field sound recordings or similar material from their colleagues, but less on other resources. The aim of this paper is to examine whether the old gramophone records are a relevant resource for ethnochoreological research in Slovenia and why
Štajeriš. Podoba in kontekst slovenskega ljudskega plesa
The book's main goal is to present one of the Slovenian folk dances, štajeriš (Steierisch or Steirisch), from choreological and dance-anthropological perspective. The introductory chapter frames the topic geographically, temporally and theoretically and provides the basis for the following two extensive chapters. The first part of the book is focused on the dance itself. It presents morphological and structural analysis of dance, leading to a morphological-structural analysis of the Slovenian štajeriš, with the primary structure derived from the number of dancers. In the second part of the book, the focus shifts from a dance to men. It starts off by presenting the syncretism of a dance, music and song in the štajeriš, to later focus on the role and meaning in man’s life, with the last section discussing the relationship between the men and the dance, where the dance is treated as a medium trough which both verbal and nonverbal communications is made possible. The central chapters are rounded off by a short chapter on the state of the štajeriš today, where it actually no longer lives among the people, but appears only as the revival of the past. In appendix, the book presents three previously unpublished records (Kinetography Laban scores) of štajeriš. Začetno poglavje uokvirja tematiko z geografskega, časovnega in teoretskega vidika in daje osnovo dvema temeljnima sklopoma v nadaljevanju. Osrednja sklopa zaokrožuje krajše poglavje o odsevih nekdanje tradicije v sodobnosti, v novih okoliščinah, ko je t.i. ljudski ples doživel preobrazbo v folklorni ples. Poleg tega knjiga v dodatku prinaša zapise treh doslej še neobjavljenih štajerišev iz treh različnih krajev Slovenije, ki jih hrani arhiv Glasbenonarodopisnega inštituta
Snemanje in arhiviranje ljudske glasbe / Népzene rögzítése és archiválása. Strokovni priročnik / Szakmai kézikönyv
The publication focuses on the most important aspects of field research, documentation, archiving and preservation of folk music heritage: it contains elementary guidelines for fieldwork, provides the basics concepts of music and text transcriptions, and draws attention to the correct handling and preservation of unique field material, especially sound and written sources. It is intended to address those who are interested in the discovery and research of folk instrumental and vocal music, to support them with recommendations for their work, and thus to make them aware not only of the importance of discovering and collecting folk music in the field, but also of the importance of preserving documented field material. The bilingual Slovenian-Hungarian handbook Snemanje in arhiviranje ljudske glasbe / Népzene rögzítése és archiválása (Folk Music Recording and Archiving Handbook) is the result of the project "Folk Music Heritage: Exploration, study and dissemination of the common folk music heritage", carried out in the framework of the Interreg V-A Slovenia Hungary cross-border cooperation in the years 2018-2021.Publikacija se osredotoča na najpomembnejše vidike terenskega raziskovanja, dokumentiranja, arhiviranja in zaščite ljudskoglasbene dediščine: zajema temeljne napotke za terensko delo, nudi osnove glasbene in besedilne transkripcije ter opozarja na pravilno ravnanje in hranjenje unikatnega terenskega gradiva, predvsem zvočnega in pisnega. Dvojezični slovensko-madžarski strokovni priročnik Snemanje in arhiviranje ljudske glasbe / Népzene rögzítése és archiválása je rezultat projekta »Folk Music Heritage: Odkrivanje, obdelava in diseminacija skupne dediščine ljudske glasbe«, izveden v okviru čezmejnega sodelovanja Interreg V-A Slovenija Madžarska v letih 2018–2021
