    Tiktok, Instagram and Presidential Election: A Study to Understand How Politainment in Indonesian Political Campaigns 2024

    The development of technology has brought about various transformations in the lines of people's lives, one of which is in political contestation. A political contestation in Indonesia has just passed namely the 2024 General Election. The Indonesian people elected 4 Legislative Members and 1 Pair of Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates in that election. There were three candidate pairs in the 2024 presidential election. Candidate Pair Prabowo-Gibran, Candidate Pair Anies-Muhaimin and Candidate Pair Ganjar-Mahfud. In the campaign process, something was interesting, namely that the discourse battle had shifted to a non-discourse battle. One is politainment, which the candidate pairs presents to the public on social media. Politainment itself refers to the equivalent of the words politics and entertainment. This is interesting because political contestation is very close to the battle of ideas and discourse in the campaign process. However, in the 2024 presidential election, this has shifted. Therefore, this is interesting to examine further. This study uses a qualitative approach to dig deeper into politainment in the 2024 Presidential Election political campaign. The data will be selected using purposive sampling techniques, and then the data that has been obtained will be analyzed using qualitative thematic analysis techniques. This study found that politainment is used by presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs to wrap messages in political campaign

Fajar di wilayah hukum Kota\ud Makassar. Data yang diperoleh dengan metode wawancara, kemudian \ud dijadikan bahan kajian dari sudut pandang hukum masyarakat dan\ud pembangunan sesuai dengan fokus penulis. \ud Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk pendidikan hukum yang\ud ideal melalui media massa cetak di Kota Makassar adalah dengan\ud menyediakan rubrik konsultasi hukum dan penginformasian keberadaan\ud dan isi dari suatu aturan hukum tertentu. Rubrik konsultasi hukum\ud berfungsi untuk memberikan solusi hukum (legal solving) mengenai\ud permasalahan hukum yang dimiliki oleh anggota masyarakat. Selain itu\ud penginformasian mengenai keberadaan dan isi dari suatu aturan tertentu\ud juga merupakan bagian dari pendidikan hukum yang dapat dilakukan oleh\ud media massa cetak di Kota Makassar. Kemudian peningkatan kesadaran\ud hukum masyarakat melalui pemberitaan media massa cetak di Kota\ud Makassar belum maksimal. Selama ini media massa cetak hanya\ud memberikan wadah konsultasi hukum bagi masyarakat. Media massa\ud cetak di Kota Makassar belum melakukan penginformasian keberadaan\ud maupun isi dari suatu aturan hukum tertentu. Kurangnya informasi\ud masyarakat mengenai suatu aturan hukum menyebabkan rendahnya\ud kesadaran hukum (pola perilaku hukum) di kalangan masyarakat. Masih\ud diperlukan penerapan dari bentuk pendidikan hukum yang ideal melalui\ud media massa cetak di Kota Makassar. Data obtained by the interview method, then used as\ud study materials from the standpoint of public law and development in\ud accordance with the focus of the author. \ud The results showed that the ideal form of legal education through\ud print media in Makassar is to provide legal consulting and informing the\ud rubric of the existence and content of a particular rule of law. Legal\ud consultation section serves to provide legal solutions regarding legal\ud issues that are owned by members of the public.     The COVID-19 pandemic disturbed the local film industry heavily since most of the film projects were delayed or cancelled. Despite the fragile situation, local filmmakers adopted flexible and adaptive strategies to survive. The flexible strategies related to fighting (the alternative jobs, project switch) and freezing (work from home). After three months, all film practitioners decided to fight for the new normal as they found job opportunities in social media content, corporate and government service, streaming platforms and film production. The screen industries supported the local filmmakers to survive. During the emergency period, the closed network was beneficial; nonetheless, they should expand their open network to adapt to a new normality. Apart from the resistance, filmmakers are continuously under precariousness, particularly about health threats and underpaid work. © 2022 Intellect Ltd Article

    Penelitian ini menganalisis gerakan deinfluencing di media sosial TikTok di Indonesia sebagai sebuah bentuk counter wacana terhadap budaya konsumerisme digital. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengidentifikasi dan memetakan kecenderungan naratif yang berkembang dalam gerakan tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah observasi digital dengan pendekatan analisis tematik terhadap konten deinfluencing. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa gerakan deinfluensing bukanlah fenomena yang counter wacana saja, melainkan dapat dibedah kedalam tiga tema besar. Pertama, resistance, yang merepresentasikan perlawanan otentik melalui dekonstruksi narasi konsumerisme. Kedua, consumerist reappropriation, yaitu kooptasi kritik menjadi strategi pemasaran baru untuk produk alternatif. Ketiga, trend-surfing, dimana wacana deinfluensing dimanfaatkan semata untuk meningkatkan visibilitas dan membangun personal brand. Temuan ini menyimpulkan bahwa deinfluensing di Indonesia merupakan medan pertarungan wacana yang kompleks, yang menampilkan dialektika terus-menerus antara aktivisme otentik dan komodifikasi dalam ekosistem platform digital

    Engaging in Twitter thematic content analysis to understand the political messages of the Jokowi-Amin and Prabowo-Sandi success teams in the 2019 Indonesian presidential election

    This article discusses religious and religious symbols narrated as political commodities in the 2019 presidential election on the twitter platform. The battle for narratives in the 2019 Indonesian presidential election was colored by the use of these issues on social media, this has led to increased sensitivity between religions and increasing issues of intolerance. For this reason this research has been conducted to investigate the categories of political messages narrated in tweets during the seven months of the 2019 presidential election campaign. Twitter, which was published on 23 September 2018 to 13 April 2019. based on the findings of this study, it shows that the success team of the two candidate pairs in narrating religious symbols and religious symbols is divided into 6 message categories. The message categories are Commodification of Religious Greetings, Clothing as a Religious Symbol, Title as a Religious Symbol, Salat and Nyekar as Political Commodities, An Expression of Gratitude as Political Commodities, House of Worship as a Place for Political Campaign

Local filmmakers are trying to find alternative channels to show their short films via YouTube. Using the media industries studies perspective, this research offers two cases, Tilik and Loz Jogjakartoz, to study the role of YouTube for local film the promotion and distribution. Based on in-depth interviews, Ravacana Films and Kebon Ijo Studio implement specific strategies such as film upload timing, social media promotion and audience attention management so that their films trend on YouTube. This research reveals that YouTube can play an important role in connecting local filmmakers with audiences and the national film industry
