Diepte-geïntegreerd model voor slib met toepassing voor de Amer
No full textAls gevolg van de gereduceerde getijbeweging op het Noordelijk Delta Bekken (NDB), veroorzaakt door het in werking treden van de Haringvlietsluizen in 1970, is onder andere op de Amer een aanzienlijke sedimentatie opgetreden. Uit bodemonderzoeken is afgeleid, dat de sedimentatie op de Amer voornamelijk uit slib bestaat. Er is een diepte-geïntegreerd, dynamisch netwerk model ontwikkeld voor het beschrijven van het transport van slib met een uitbreiding tot een morfologisch slibmodel. Het model is gebaseerd op de twee-dimensionale massabalansvergelijking met convectie en dispersie. Als op de randvoorwaarde is gebruik gemaakt van de sedimentatieformule van Krone en de erosieformulering volgens Partheniades. Ten einde een zo goed mogelijke slibparameters te verkrijgen is een beschikbare gegevens gemaakt. schatting van de uitgebreide analyse diverse van de Het ontwikkelde morfologische model is toegepast op de bodemontwikkeling van de Amer. Voor zover het sedimentatie betreft, geeft het model redelijk goede resultaten bij realistische waarden voor de slibparameters . Naast een gevoeligheidsanalyse naar de invloed van de verschillende slibparameters is ook getracht een voorspelling te doen naar de toekomstige evenwichtsligging van de bodem. Echter door de geringe bekendheid van de erosieparameters en de grote mogelijke spreiding is dit niet mogelijk gebleken. Amertak: Toetsing waterkeringen langs de Amer en de Amertak
No full textVanaf het Wilhelminakanaal naar de Amer wordt een kanaaltak gegraven, waardoor de bochtige Donge wordt afgesneden. In opdracht van de directie Noord-Brabant is door de Dienst Weg- en Waterbouwkunde bekeken, wat de hoogte van de kruin van de kanaaldijken en van de dijken langs de monding van het kanaal op de Amer moet zijn. Dit is berekend met behulp van het programma "dijkring". Voor dijken langs het kanaal bleek dat de kruin van de dijk gelijk moest zijn aan het maatgevende hoog water vermeerderd met een waakhoogte van 0,50 m; bij de monding van het kanaal dient een waakhoogte van 1,05 resp 1,65 m te worden aangehouden, het tweede deel van dit rapport is berekend wat de minimale veiligheidszones zijn en welke ruimtebeslag bij deze zones hoort. In het derde deel wordt aangegeven hoe de klei op het buitentalud aangebracht moet worden, waarbij ervan wordt uitgegaan dat de klei in den droge wordt verwerkt

Implied Author, Overall Consideration, and Subtext of "Desiree's Baby"
No full textThis essay explores how to infer from a text the image of the implied author. It examines Kate Chopin's "Desiree's Baby" (1893), which has been widely regarded as an indictment of racism but which an "overall consideration" of the implied author's choices will lead us to see as a racist text. Through the interaction of various details in the text, the implied author suggests three racist dichotomies: (1) white characters' nondiscrimination versus black characters' discrimination, (2) positive slavery under white masters versus negative slavery under a black master, and (3) superior whites versus inferior blacks. This implied racist stance reflects the historical context of Chopin's personal experiences, but it contrasts with the quite different racial stances of the implied authors of some other Chopin narratives with different thematic designs. The complexity of the narratives under the name "Kate Chopin" offers an opportunity not only to gain a better understanding of the concept of implied author but also to clarify the relations (connections as well as disparities) among textual, intertextual, and extratextual evidence in literary interpretation in general.LiteratureA&HCI4ARTICLE2285-3113
How can allocative inefficiency reveal risk preference? An empirical investigation on French wheat farms

More precisely, we establish a relationship between ex post output price level and allocative inefficiency that allows to characterize farmers’ risk preferences. Effectivness of inorganic concrete coating matrices and their self cleaning properties
No full textConcrete Coatings are becoming more popular to protect concrete surfaces for infrastructures. The coating improves the durability of concrete structures. Inorganic concrete coatings are better than organic coatings because they allow the release of vapor pressure. The results presented in this thesis deals with the behavior of the inorganic matrices which are based on silicates. The coating is compatible with concrete, brick and wooden surfaces.
The objective of the research presented in this thesis is to evaluate the matrices for workability, ease of application and self cleaning properties. Cracking characteristics were also evaluated using high magnification. The self cleaning properties of the coating matrices were studied using Rohdamine B dye to detect the degradation rate of the organic chemicals that represent the organic pollutants in the atmosphere.
Advanced technology such as X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Atomic force microscope was used to measure the curing period and its effect on the matrices self cleaning properties. The degradation of the organic chemicals represents a breakthrough in the development of the inorganic matrices because they can be used in manyapplications. ’Urbs, ’urb girls and Martine Delvaux’s Rose amer
Get PDFThis article considers representations of exurban spaces in Martine Delvaux’s Rose amer (2009), positioning it in relation to a broader take-up of “regional” spaces in Québec fiction. It argues that Delvaux’s novel is prescient in its blurring of distinct spatial categories. Examining how Rose amer parallels setting and characters, the article argues that it offers an intervention in the politics of memorialization. This is achieved through a focus on the standardized and reproducible, so that the vernacular domestic geographies featured within the novel become everyday monuments to the violence which is daily perpetrated against girls and women.Novelist, essayist, and public intellectual, Martine Delvaux is known for her literary and theoretical engagement with feminism. Not surprisingly, critics tend to focus on the identity politics within her work (Montpetit 2009; Tardif 2017). However, the author is an evocative place-writer. As Chantal Guy points out in a review of Les Cascadeurs de l’amour n’ont pas droit au doublage (Delvaux 2012a), “les lieux, dans les romans de Martine Delvaux […], sont importants” (Guy 2012). In this article, I shall examine how gender and literary geographies come together to particular effect in Delvaux’s Rose amer (Delvaux 2009a), translated into English by David Homel as Bitter Rose (2015a). The novel traces the social mores of white- and blue-collar Québec and Franco-Ontario during the 1970s and 1980s. Its taking up of themes like single-motherhood, domestic labor, and sexual violence is combined with a depiction of everyday middle- and lower-middle-class life in accommodation such as the bungalow and row house. Rose amer can be positioned in relation to broader trends in French-language fiction from Québec, in that, with the exception of the opening section, it is set outside Montréal. The city has tended to dominate Québec prose writing in both of the province’s majority languages since the 1940s, especially since the nationalist assertion of the 1960s known as the Quiet Revolution. However, the last 20 years have seen a growing body of new regional writing in French.In what follows, I propose that the settings of significant parts of Rose amer can be read as inscriptions of what I term “’urb-anization.” As outlined in the introduction to this dossier, ’urbanization is fostered by global communications technologies and the expansion of housing forms in locations which are not quite rural and not quite urban, but various combinations of both. In claiming that Delvaux’s novel mediates this phenomenon, I demonstrate how places within Rose amer have their parallels in fictional characters. Drawing on Delvaux’s concept of “les filles en série” (Delvaux 2013), I argue that the girls in the novel function as individuals and a collective: given identities of their own, they can nevertheless seem to merge into one. Similarly, the village and suburb are distinctive and everyplaces, offering a model of ’urban life which carries an affective charge like those found in other examples of Québec culture of the period, such as Arcade Fire’s smash nostalgia-fest, The Suburbs (2010). There is a tension in Rose amer, however, between affection and an unease at the gendered violence tacitly underlying everyday routines, which ensures that girls are out of place within the domestic landscapes they inhabit. As a consequence, these landscapes become not only emblems of particular moments in North American housing developments, but also monuments to girls’ and women’s unseen pain

d’elle, une étape de la planification urbaine de l’époque. Les années 1960 seront celles de l’utopie avec la naissance des
HLM, les années 1970 celles de l’abandon avec le changement des politiques sociales et, la décennie des 1980 celle de la
décadence condamnant ces grands ensembles de banlieues à une ghettoïsation progressive. Nous comprendrons que la
famille de Saïd et Naja, entraînée dans ce même déclin, est également victime des conséquences de ces politiques sociales et
de la fin de ce mirage d’insertion que représentèrent les cités HLM dans les années 1960. L’écrivaine pointera ainsi du doigt
les responsabilités politiques dans l’exclusion de ces zones périurbaines mais aussi, la plaie franco-algérienne encore ouverte
de nos jours.En Soleil amer, Lilia Hassaine retoma el tema de la inmigración argelina en el periodo poscolonial. Veremos
aquí que la autora opta por hacer evolucionar a sus personajes durante tres décadas, en la que cada una refleja
respectivamente una etapa del urbanismo de entonces. Los años sesenta fueron los de la utopía con el nacimiento de la
vivienda de protección oficial, los setenta, los del abandono con el cambio de las políticas sociales, y los ochenta, los de
la decadencia, que condenó a estos grandes conjuntos suburbanos a una progresiva guetización. Entendemos que la
familia de Saïd y Naja, arrastrada por esta misma decadencia, es también víctima de las consecuencias de estas políticas
sociales y del fin del espejismo de integración que representaban las urbanizaciones HLM en los sesenta. La escritora
apunta a la responsabilidad política de la exclusión de estas zonas suburbanas, pero también a la herida franco-argelina,
que todavía sigue abierta.In Soleil amer, Lilia Hassaine revisits Algerian immigration in the post-colonial period. This article shows how
the author chooses to make her characters evolve over three decades, each of which illustrates a stage in the urban
planning during that period. The sixties were the years of utopia with the birth of social housing, the seventies the years
of abandonment of social policies, and the eighties those of decadence, condemning these large suburban areas to
progressive ghettoization. We understand that Saïd and Naja’s family, dragged down by this same decadence, is also a
victim of the consequences of these social policies and of the end of the mirage of integration that the HLM housing
estates represented in the sixties. The writer points to the political responsibility for the exclusion of these suburban areas,
but also to the Franco-Algerian wound that is still open today.Filologí
